I’m one of the founders of a craft gin company.

What challenge were you trying to address with JMdesigns?

We needed help upgrading our site because we’re going into new markets.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We pointed to a few websites that we liked that were also on Wix. We saw that e-commerce would be a bigger channel for us, especially because of COVID-19.

What is the team composition?

We worked with six people from their team.

How did you come to work with JMdesigns?

We looked at 28 vendors from around the world. I found a lot of partners on Wix and Upwork.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent less than $5,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2020, and our work is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Up until now, our website had really been about branding. Now, with these changes, we feel like we’ll really be able to function as a store. They’re the right type of partners to help us achieve our goal.

How did JMdesigns  perform from a project management standpoint?

When I had a technical requirement that they couldn’t answer right away, they went back to Wix to get the answer. I really appreciated the transparency. In one case, in particular, they really went to bat for me with Wix.

They’re also some of the calmest people I’ve ever dealt with. When we started to move on things like scope, they were very calm about it and conducted themselves in a professional way.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I asked them to work with an external brand designer, and they played very well in the sandpit. They were great with customer service and fulfilling technical requirements.

Are there any areas they could improve?

At the beginning of the program, they were very responsive. As we got closer to the end, they weren’t as responsive. It wasn’t’ a huge issue but instead of getting a response at the end of the day, they would respond the following day.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to be really clear in your SOW. I didn’t do that properly, especially with COVID-19, and we had to change our scope priorities. They reacted really well to that, but it’s best to map out a contingency plan.
