Our business scope was to deliver an e-commerce platform that allowed customers to place their orders in their account and that order would then sync to our Dynamics 365 F&O platform. It was imperative that all details of the order including, shipping address and contact, customer credit limit, and warehousing, all came over from F&O.

Since the introduction of the online ecommerce store, those customers that have been onboarded, we have seen an increase in ordering velocity by at least 10%.

We're not at 100% yet, but if i had to measure, i would say before i95 took on the project we were at 60% and they now have us running at around 80%

Unlike other developers, they don't just agree with you and do what you say, and that's a good thing. we're paying because we're not the experts in this field, so its good to hear the pros and cons of our wacky ideas.

very minimal improvement would be having support in my timezone. However, the team does a fantastic job by accommodating me if there are urgent issues.

i95 offered an out of the box connector for these two platforms that was well reviewed, and they were additionally able to offer us customizations to their out of box solution that fit our business needs.

We began our project by auditing all aspects of our business so that the i95 team could understand our key business requirements and scope out the project. When we were satisfied with the project scope, we began working in phases to ensure that every step was complete and finalized each step with UA testing.

Our core team was 4 individuals including a project manager, a Magento programmer, and a NAV programmer. We also worked with a project closing team and a sales coordinator.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were able to install our new connector right before our busiest season of the year, and have been extremely happy with the performance overall. The i95 team was on hand to help ensure smooth operations of the new tool for the first several weeks and helped us tweak anything that wasn't working perfectly along the way. Many of our day to day operations have been streamlined, allowing us to ship orders faster and quickly identify and fix any communication issues between systems as they arise.

The i95 team's communication is very quick and thorough. They were always on time in meeting deadlines and were patient with us when changes needed to be made.

The range of specialties of individuals we worked with was very impressive. Our team included people who were highly trained and and had expertise in each of the systems we work with, giving us confidence that our business requirements would be met.

i95Dev took over our website to further develop it; the platform is a Magento e-commerce, and they’ve worked on integrating our order entry and accounting systems. In terms of design, they come up with suggestions that work with our existing brand guidelines.

Regarding the site’s features, we focus on a shopping experience; users can log in with their franchise ID and password and go through a customized checkout page integrated with our inventory system.

They’re a fast team; whenever we have a weekly call and give them tasks, they’ll complete 95% by the following week’s meeting. Also, we have another website development project for a customer of ours, and they’ll probably wrap up in 30 days. Overall, I’m 100% satisfied with their work, and they’ve exceeded my expectations.

How did i95Dev perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been very good with project management. In terms of tools and communication, we use Microsoft Teams and video chats, which have been working perfectly for me. 

What did you find most impressive about them? 

Their customer service and response time are outstanding. Also, their knowledge and expertise in building custom codes are amazing as well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — I feel like they’re doing great and that they have competitive rates.

I recommend following the recommendations they provide in terms of support packages; we had no idea that we needed more support from our last company to this one, and it’s been amazing. Listen to them regarding how many hours and people to involve in the program.

We prepared all the required environment for development, testing and production. After the implementation, testing and UAT, we moved the code to production at the time of the ERP switch.

After switching to the new ERP, all the flows started working as expected and we didn't have any disruption of our service. The workload for all the teams involved in this project got drastically reduced.

We had weekly meetings to check the project plan and deliverables. We managed a list of open points and their status in order to progress with all the activities.

They have a strong knowledge of integrations and a structured approach in terms of project management, all the steps were clear and well documented.

After go live, we had to find the right way to manage priorities using their support ticketing portal: even though their internal handover from development team to support were done in full, a different team needs some time to get aligned with the customer needs. This is quite normal for a structured company though, we were able to overcome this little glitch together

I’m the owner of Qhousekids, a distribution company. We sell children’s products across Canada and we hold the stock here. We are mainly B2B and we do a little bit of B2C. We’ve been in business for 20 years.

What challenge were you trying to address with i95Dev?

We were already using a Magento platform. We are also using the Microsoft Dynamics GPS and ERP [enterprise resource planning] system with all the updates online. We didn’t have a way to connect Magento and Dynamics GP [global positioning], which meant that we did any stock update, new price, or price change manually.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

When they started, the project was to put a connector in place between the two platforms. Every company has their workflow and specific requirements. Ours were currency and other issues. They managed to put everything in place for us.

As we upgraded the GP, they had to adapt the connector. At one point, we had an issue here with the server, and they stepped in to put the connector back in place.

When we decided to upgrade from Magento to Magento 2, it was really like a new website. We gave them the whole project, including not only adapting the connector but also doing the web development and design. They involved their design team and installed different extensions that we found and did testing.

We also had some small requirements that don’t come with the Magento 2 community version. For example, I wanted to be able to see my customers’ carts, which I was able to do in the original Magento platform. By default in Magento 2, that’s not an option. They customized that for me. We bought an extension for Newsletter to automatically see what was left in people’s carts. In addition, we needed to sync with the database.

There are certain languages our customers use since we are in Montreal. Some speak French and some English. We assigned language categories to customers in GP so that Magento would know which language they speak, which in turn goes into the extension for newsletters. They are also working on a new menu and banner system because I didn’t like the other one.

What is the team dynamic?

For the first year, there were 2, with 1 being the project leader. He was my main point of contact. Sometimes he would add a developer and move another person to a different function. The project leader got promoted, so now it’s another set of people.

How did you come to work with i95Dev?

We heard of i95Dev through our GP reseller here in Montreal, who said they had a connector. We had looked at different companies that offered this, but the prices weren’t within our reach. What i95Dev offered was within our reach.

We started working together in February 2015, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

This engagement has changed everything—it’s been an amazing success. Our customers, who are store owners, love the fact that everything is integrated. They can place the orders at whatever time of day and on weekends and know that whatever we show in stock is actually there. If it’s not, it shows which date it’s coming in based on our ERP system and the connector. i95Dev did that seamlessly.

Now that we’ve moved to Magento 2, we’ve received some feedback on things customers don’t like. We’re now making little changes based on feedback from super-users, who are about 20–30 customers that place orders every single week or 2 times a week. I really listen to them.

How did i95Dev perform from a project management standpoint?

They are excellent, always available, and very knowledgeable. They work hard to be in sync with us and work on a schedule similar to our time zone, even though they are 10–11 hours ahead. When we communicate by voice or Skype, it’s always during our time as well.

We use a team portal that sends me updates during the day that I can reply to. That’s how I can tell they are working at the same time as we are. I like the way that their progress reports are web-based and organized by ticket. I can look at all the different parts of the projects easily just by logging onto the portal.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very polite and their level of English is excellent. They have a lot of expertise and can troubleshooting any issue, like extension conflicts in both GP and Magento. That’s great, because often a vendor is an expert in 1 and not both.

Some companies out west charge for every extra hour. With i95Dev, I don’t know how they keep track of the hours, but we define a scope ahead of time and agree on a certain amount of hours for a certain price. I’ve never had to pay extra. They’re fair in their quotes.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have nothing bad to say. It’s been great. They’ve helped our business significantly.

After we created a new website and web store for our business, we wanted to redevelop the backend system to integrate our Magento e-commerce platform with Microsoft Dynamic GP.

What was the scope of their involvement?

For the first couple of weeks, they documented what the process would look like for us and came up with a detailed project plan we could follow. Then, using their own software, they programmed our backend so that all of the customer orders that went through our Magento web store would go through Dynamic GP. Inventory and pricing were also synced between Magento and Dynamic GP, so when we created products on the web store, they were automatically created on our backend.

Processing orders is much more instantaneous and hands-off since the integration. As soon as an order is place, our customer service representatives get a notification. We’re also able to process credit card orders as one transaction. We don’t have to take any separate steps, which would be the case if we didn’t have the integration.

How did i95Dev perform from a project management standpoint?

We had a great project manager who was very organized and very familiar with Dynamic GP. Some of their developers were offshore and communication could be a bit difficult, but the project manager bridged that gap and kept us up-to-date on their progress.

We had weekly conference calls to summarize where we were at each week and make decisions for the upcoming weeks. During busier times in the project, we spoke twice a week. We also discussed the project via email when necessary.

Although integration is a complicated process, the product they provided is stable and gets the job done.

Completing a major website upgrade is almost always a stressful undertaking, but I95 made the process as pain free as possible. Their team did a fantastic job communicating every step of the process including timelines and detailed walk throughs of what would happen and when. After the upgrades were moved to production there were a few bumps, but the team was responsive, quick, and diligent about fixing issues as soon as they popped up.

With the few issues our development team couldn’t figure out, our account rep had seen the errors with other clients and was able to provide examples of how to complete fixes. Overall, we have been very satisfied with the process and our experience with our I95 team.
