Our partnership with Hunter began by bringing them on for digital creative services.   Hunter helped develop and test creative assets, and make recommendations on best performers. They did this in partnership with our paid marketing agency.  Recently we have conscolidated all marketing to Hunter, so they are now in the early days of running our paid digital advertising campaigns for us, in addition to creative.

They are small and agile, vs past partners who are larger and have different teams handling various pieces of the project/campaign. As a result of the team focus they are able to act quickly and make decisions and recommendations, vs needing to confer with a "different team" whenever a question is asked about some aspect of the campaign.

Creatively small details about font type and placement were not adhered to as strictly as possible, but were always caught and fixed with feedback.

I’m the founder and CMO of Postscript Marketing, an e-commerce consultancy that focuses on branding, staffing, agency management, growth marketing, and performance marketing.

What challenge were you trying to address with Hunter Digital?
I often rely on third-party resources to help with tasks that I don't do on my own. Particularly, I needed help managing a particular client’s paid search, social media, and Amazon marketing needs. I also needed support in improving another client’s SEO and conversion rate optimization (CRO) activities.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?
I’ve hired Hunter Digital as an extension of my marketing consultancy. They primarily do migration work for my clients. Additionally, Hunter Digital handles my clients’ paid search marketing and paid advertising efforts within Facebook and Instagram.

For the last 6–7 months, Hunter Digital has been working on two of my clients’ projects. For the first client, a bakery, Hunter Digital has been managing their paid search marketing within the Google environment and paid social advertising within Facebook and Instagram through Meta. They also help with their SEO, Amazon listing optimization, CRO, and other promotional campaigns across various digital channels.

For the other client, Hunter Digital is also focused on paid search marketing to scale their profitability. They’re also working within the Meta platform to help retarget the client’s existing customers through paid advertising. Additionally, Hunter Digital manages their Google Ads and LinkedIn corporate outreach to try to identify corporate gift givers for the holiday season.

What is the team composition?
I work with 5–6 people simultaneously, including Eric (Founder & Principal), a project manager, a paid social expert, a paid search expert, and an Amazon listings and advertising expert.

How did you come to work with Hunter Digital?
I was networking with friends and colleagues to see what boutique digital agencies were available to help me with specific marketing problems. A colleague who had worked with Hunter Digital before recommended them to me.

I chose them because they had the right set of capabilities for my requirements and a fair price. I interviewed several other agencies, and Hunter Digital had the best combination of skills to supplement what I do.

What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in April 2024, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Over the last six months, we've made our active campaigns more profitable and invested more in all the platforms Hunter Digital has been working on. Specifically, in two different cases, Hunter Digital has turned either flat or negative ROAS to positive across two different PPC campaigns.

For the bakery, Hunter Digital has been able to accelerate their sales on Amazon, implement a prospecting platform, and reach out to thousands of potential B2B prospects for the holiday season. We then follow up on prospects to generate leads. So far, we’ve been able to generate a good number of leads for this season and improve the bakery's Amazon sales. The team has also launched their first effort in Meta paid advertising for B2C for the bakery.

For the other client, a personal hygine products company, Hunter Digital has turned a negative PPC campaign into a positive one with around 2–3x ROAS. I can't give specific numbers but they were able to take them from a flat advertising cost of sale to a profitable advertising cost of sale.

How did Hunter Digital perform from a project management standpoint?
Hunter Digital has performed well in terms of project management. They’ve created monday.com portals for us, which is the central hub of our communications. Their project management lead is very strong and always on top of all the tasks and deadlines. They’re able to remind us when we’re causing delays and do a good job of keeping us on track.

Aside from Monday.com, we typically communicate through email, phone calls, Slack, Google Meet, and weekly live Zoom status meetings.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?
I’d like to give a shout-out Eric, who is always available to take my calls. He has been very flexible and accomodating in his approach to business contracts and willing to shift ways of working based on my changing needs. He’s always open to feedback and react to them well, offering suggestions in terms of how they could do things better and improve my clients’ businesses.

What did you find most impressive about them?
We’re most impressed with Hunter Digital’s ability to turn negative or neutral search campaigns that we’ve had in the market for a long time into profitable campaigns.

Are there any areas they could improve?
I hope Hunter Digital can grow even larger than they already are today so they can take on more work.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure you have the appropriate resources on your side to be a good agency partner. A lot of my clients don’t have enough dedicated support to react to Hunter Digital as quickly as they need to. The most effective way to leverage your relationship is to ensure that you are properly staffed to react in a timely manner and give proper feedback, coaching, and input.

Since we are new, we are working to establish our customers and our online awareness. This is challenging as most of our customers are first time buyers and therefore a bit more difficult to capture than repeat buyers.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We tried another marketing company first and struggled to make progress. Hunter is putting more effort in and I am seeing results.

First we focused on Social Media and really worked to understand who and how to target our customers. Next, we added Google into the strategy and are focused on key words and campaigns. Hunter has helped us comb through our site and we are currently optimizing it for better results.

We have worked with many of their team members, though we have one account manager who is our main contact. It is not unusual to have four Hunter employees on a video call.

It is a bit early to share results as we are still in discovery, however we are seeing progress.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We meet at a minimum once per month, however I generally request more meetings without any pushback. We have constant email communication as well.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I like the people who work at Hunter. They are relatable, friendly, and professional. Since it is a bit on the early side to report results, that is so far the most impressive part of working with Hunter. That said, I do like the speed and effort put into a task, I never have to wonder if they are working on our brand.

HUNTER handles all of our clients’ PPC campaigns, including Google Ads. When a client wants to produce more leads, I give HUNTER their new site and tell them what market the client wants to reach. They review the content and launch a campaign to meet our clients’ goals. They also do tracking and analytics, optimizing the copy they create for the ads. Most of their work is done on Facebook and Google, although some larger clients also request Bing.

I mainly interface with the head of their company, and they have one person assigned to each of my clients’ accounts.

We talk once a day, if not more. They have quick and efficient project management, mainly using phone and email to communicate.

Their customer service and responsiveness are outstanding. Excellent service is paramount because the work is attached to my name, and they don’t disappoint.

Ask questions and be an educated consumer. Figure out your average sale price and what you’d be willing to pay to acquire the next sale; they’ll let you know if it’s possible.
