Our work with Happen has evolved from temporarily using a single developer to consistently working with four developers and a project manager who have become de facto teammates in our web services department. Together, we've designed and developed over 60 websites in the last 12 months. The simplest were 12-20 page sites with a variety of CRM, marketing automation, and digital campaign integrations. The most complex were compliance-driven sites for regulatory documents and customer resources in a clear, accessible, and scalable structure. These sites prioritized stability, templated content workflows, and straightforward UI/UX over complex interactivity, supporting frequent updates across many utilities with minimal friction.

happen technologies is providing staff augmentation services for us. We’ve had an initial call with Adam (VP of Business Development) to discuss their pipeline of candidates and technologies they’re working with to assess their talents and potentially hire them. Consequently, they interview and bring us the candidates with an in-depth assessment to let us know the different skills of every person — we’re looking for engineers with a technical skill set for Python.

I’ve been only working with Adam.

I knew Adam from a previous engagement, and he reached out to me when happen technologies started their business. We decided to work with them on this project because they seemed the best option.

We invest $100,000–$120,000 with them every year.

We started working together in January 2022, and the engagement is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have a very high success rate with happen technologies' work. We've hired one of the three candidates that they've recommended to us. That candidate has integrated seamlessly into our team and is doing a great job with our organization's technical engineering and cultural needs.

We use Slack, Zoom, and Google Meet to communicate with happen technologies' team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

happen technologies' honest approach is their biggest strength. Their team always lets us know if they have candidates that can add value to our tasks, and if they don't, they don't lie and give us nonsense.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think there's anything they can improve on; happen technologies has taken upon the challenge of finding resources that can adapt to our processes and also does a great job understanding our needs. Other providers submit 20 candidates that no one will ever hire, but happen technologies focuses on bringing the right persons on board.

Be clear with your requirements and let them do their thing. In addition, it's important that every side is honest and upfront with communication.

We were looking for resources to improve our custom software development efforts.

happen technologies is providing us with staff augmentation services to supplement the development of our micro web apps. At the time, we were looking to source for REACT and JSON developers for both the front- and backend, as well as UI/UX designers.

They then continued to look for people to onboard into our ecosystem, and our lead developers would work with them for short and long-term projects and API integrations.

Working with them has been a positive experience. The developers enjoy working with their team and our product and project managers were particularly fond of the UI/UX designers.

How did happen technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They worked very well from a project management perspective, so I have no complaints. The team was consistently present at all the meetings, and they always delivered the project within the given timeframe.

We typically used the standard Google Suite for Google chats and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was very impressed with how they consistently delivered what you ask of them with agility.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve their communication skills.

I would suggest keeping open communications at all times, but avoid micromanaging their team. Stay on top of the project to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Also, their great QA team has helped our organization in the coding work that we’ve been doing. Overall, they’re doing an excellent job running an agile sprint mode to deliver.

Their project management is great, which differentiates them from their competition. They’ve got a strong local presence and excellent offshore coordination. Additionally, their team has met every deadline.

Their access to qualified senior developers is outstanding; that enables them to provide a more effective and straightforward process than other providers.

We had an issue with short-notice personnel turnover, and I think that transition could’ve been handled better.

Invest time upfront to build good and regular lines of communication with them.

The earlier you can bring them into the project, the better. That way, they can help set expectations properly in the sales prospect of the cycle, even when your potential client is only a possibility.

Throughout the first 2 weeks, we meet approximately twice a week to thoroughly go through the desired features for bringing the app to the market. Work flows, functionality and UX all began during this process and was reviewed for confirmation at the beginning of each call. The key deliverable was a fully functioning UX prototype and a limited functioning UI prototype which we are beyond confident to take and present to our investors.

I personally never set time frames on any work, however, when they said something would be ready to present to me, it was always ready when they said it would be. Communication and responses were almost immediately.i never waited more than 12 to 24 hours for a response. Typically less than 12 hours for a response.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their feedback on my thoughts and ideas, and their ability to share ideas and thoughts in a collaborative fashion was excellent. The only thing possibly equally impressive was how amazingly they were able to understand my thought processes, even if they didn't necessarily agree with the implementation of my ideas. This enabled them to understand what I was wanting, and offer a solution in a way we could better implement my wants and needs.

At the time, I truly don't have any criticisms.
