I’m an executive at a company that offers a social platform for pickleball players. On our platform, users can talk to other players, learn tips, find courts, and do other things related to the game.

What challenge were you trying to address with Growthmill?

We needed to develop a mobile application.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Growthmill designed and developed our iOS and Android mobile app from scratch. In the beginning, we provided sketches for the app’s design and had an idea of how we wanted the app to look. Growthmill created the UI/UX design based on those sketches and developed the app’s code using React Native.

Growthmill also designed our website, although we didn’t launch it due to our internal budget.  

What is the team composition?

We worked with Andy (Founder & CEO) and Nikola (CTO). We also worked with Dejan (React Developer), who was one of the leading developers, Milica (Project Manager), Ilija (Software Engineer), Miodrag (React & React Native Developer), and a UI/UX designer who no longer works at Growthmill. 

How did you come to work with Growthmill?

We found Growthmill through a referral. One of our investors already had a relationship with Growthmill and recommended them for this project.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested around $88,000 with Growthmill.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Growthmill from August 2021–December 2022.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Although we haven’t done the app’s marketing, we gathered some quantitative metrics. Our mobile app had 19 five-star reviews on the App Store and 1,400 downloads between the App Store and Google Play. 

The app has had some bugs and crashes, but we understand the reason behind them, and it’s not due to Growthmill’s work. The bugs go back to our backend server, and if we want fewer issues, we need to invest in a better server. However, we didn’t find it necessary due to the current state of our business. 

Moreover, we had a great experience with Growthmill’s designer. The final app’s design made us feel very confident, and the team did a great job elevating the sketches we presented and bringing them to life.

Overall, we had a good process with Growthmill and were happy with the app they developed. The final result is exactly what we had envisioned when we started the project.

How did Growthmill perform from a project management standpoint?

Growthmill was good at project management. I mainly communicated with Andy through Slack, and he kept us up to date throughout the whole process. We also had weekly or biweekly Zoom meetings as needed.

We didn’t use any project management software to collaborate with Growthmill, although I’m unsure if their team used any tool to organize internally. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was most impressed with Growthmill’s relationship management. They were a caring team and went the extra mile for us. Growthmill’s team was flexible with their working hours since most teammates were in Serbia. Sometimes they worked at hours I wouldn’t expect them to work, going above and beyond — they were outstanding.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything for Growthmill to improve. I was really happy with the engagement.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend working with Growthmill because they go the extra mile, which sets them apart. Relationship management is really important for me when I look for a business partner; I look for human interaction and honest feedback and found that working with Growthmill.

I was the CTO of a startup company building a platform for manufacturing companies to source each other.

For what projects/services did your company hire Growthmill, and what were your goals?

We wanted to bring in an experienced team to integrate Stripe into the platform for our first paid product.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We were referred by Stripe to Growthmill. After our initial conversations with their team, I felt very confident they would be able to build out the necessary functionality. I also felt they could do this with minimal disruption to our team. Also, they were reasonably priced.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Create a new microservice that acts as the layer between our platform and Stripe. This included listening to the appropriate webhooks as well as custom integration to the existing platform microservices to enable business logic. In addition, they were to help us in integrating the front end and setting up Stripe account.

We communicated mostly with two individuals, Andy (CEO) and Nikola (CTO).

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

They were able to deliver the Stripe integration in the expected timeline. We were able to have a fully functional subscription payment that integrated well with our own systems.

They were timely in their responses to our questions. They communicated well on where they were . They made sure to make their work iterative so we could view results as we went along.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They went beyond to ensure our overall experience with Stripe went well. This included taking the initiative to spot webhook failures as well as help us work with the Stripe portal. The teams work together very seamlessly.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There's nothing they need to improve on.

We were looking for a solution that will enable us to set tax rates during Stripe check out. We were turned to several companies and chose to work with Nikola and the team at Growthmill as their response time was the best. We had several ittarations with them and have delivered us the information that we needed as well as a complete spec of the solution within 24h which was outstanding!

I'm the owner of a company that provides web applications to the legal industry. The applications provide time and billing functionality.

For what projects/services did your company hire Growthmill?

I needed help integrating Stripe Payments to provide the needed functionality to manage subscriptions for the web app. Users pay a fixed amount per user/ per month. Stripe Payments completely automates that.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Growthmill was on the Stripe website as one of their implementation partners. Andy, from Growthmill, responded to my inquiry and was interested in helping me.

Andy, with his deep knowledge of Stripe functionality, assisted me in integrating Stripe into my web app. He was able to help me understand how Stripe worked at a high level and then to help me with the low level details of the implementation.

Andy was my front line contact, but he was able to tap into other Growthmill resources as needed.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I'm in final testing of the implementation and things are looking very good.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Excellent workflow. It was a pleasure working with Andy.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They still knew how to roll up their sleeves and did some work for the customer. That's becoming less common as we roll through the 21st century.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No, it was all good. I count myself lucky that I found Andy and Growthmill. I hope we can do some more work in the future.
