What challenge were you trying to address with GreenMellen?

Our initial purpose was to do a review and analysis of our digital marketing and social media.

After GreenMellen made suggestions about our digital marketing, we hired them to manage our social media postings on Facebook and LinkedIn.

GreenMellen created original content based on the questions they asked us. Some of that original content was information we’d gathered from photos, customer testimonies, and more information from the field. We’d send them that, and GreenMellen would create the posts from there.

Additionally, they shared and reposted some of our manufacturer’s content.

How did you come to work with GreenMellen?

One of my sales representatives knew one of the GreenMellen principles from the Rotary Club, so it was a referral.

How much have you invested with them?

We initially spent $3,500 for the consultation and analysis. Once we entered into the monthly social media management contract, we paid $2,250 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our initial analysis started in March 2022, and the social media campaign began in May 2022. GreenMellen completed the social media campaign in March 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We definitely saw more interaction with our posts and followers on our social media channels. GreenMellen had some metrics on the increase in followers, click-through rates, and interaction with our posts. In the last quarterly report we got, we saw our followers on LinkedIn quadrupled, and our followers on Facebook increased five times since we began our campaign with GreenMellen. In general, they raised awareness of our brand and company.

We were a bit disappointed that we couldn’t convert those interactions to client appointments. However, we have to be fair and say that we didn’t do what they recommended in order to capitalize on that. GreenMellen wanted to overhaul the website to track the interaction between the social media channels and the site. They advised us to do that so we could drive the clients once they interacted on the social media pages and see more conversions, but we weren’t ready to undertake that.

How did GreenMellen perform from a project management standpoint?

They met deadlines and stayed on budget. We didn’t spend a lot of time looking after them.

We communicated through a portal where we could upload the content or assets, and they used the same portal for scheduling and planning out the posts. We could approve or edit the content through the portal, and GreenMellen would make the adjustments. When it was finally approved, they queued it up to be posted. Additionally, we had quarterly teleconferences to share the results and the quarterly report.

What did you find most impressive about them?

First, we liked the fact that they were local, so we could meet in person. Secondly, GreenMellen gave us gentle nudges if we ran behind on content. They stayed on top of the calendar and looked ahead. Overall, they were very organized and professional.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It was our first time using an outside firm, so I don’t really have an answer on what we’d wish they had done.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Hiring an outside company to handle your marketing is an expensive proposition, but it’s also a commitment. You must be willing to let it run its course for a year and then look back and determine if the investment had a return or benefited your business.

Our goals were to establish an aesthetic that was consistent with our values and market position.

The process began with a discovery call to talk through our assessment of our existing brand identity and messaging and answer questions about who we are and what our core work is about. After that process, the GreenMellen team developed a messaging strategy that captured our key messages and overall value propositions. This document became the foundation for the visual branding work that followed.

From there, we worked with their design team to think through and develop a new logo and color palette. Through a series of conversations, rounds of designs and revisions, we landed on our final deliverables, which were the new logo, color palette, font types, brand guide, and a number of pre-designed print items (e.g. business cards, letterhead, thank you cards, homepage for website, etc.)

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They do ongoing Google Analytics work and look at the hits on our website, how they’ve increased, and where they’re coming from. They monitor all the activity and let us customize what we want to see. We meet quarterly, and they show us the metrics and redesign the dashboard regularly. Overall, they’ve raised our hit rate and guided us to put content that keeps people on the website longer.

How did GreenMellen perform from a project management standpoint?

They stay right on budget; there aren’t unexpected charges. Also, they’re great on deadlines. Since we’re a small office, sometimes we don’t have the people to get the content we need to provide them. However, they’re wonderfully patient when we’re behind. Moreover, GreenMellen is good at adjusting the schedule to meet our needs. They never hold us up.

They have a content collector and an interactive dashboard where we can put things in. Our regular communication is by email. When we need something or have meetings to assess something, we do it through video meetings on Zoom or Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a structured, professional, and interactive design process. Other people are much more informal at interacting and defining everything during the creative phase. Also, they’ve done a great job. GreenMellen has people specializing in each area, so they have knowledgeable staff who are excellent guidance. When we ask for something, they give us feedback on how it might impact our results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’re excellent. I’d highly recommend them to anybody.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have ideas or starting points so they can understand what you’re looking for. If you don’t have any ideas, they have their own and are great at those. Nonetheless, you can get some visual examples or ask them for graphic options when you start to have a good idea of the finished look you want.

Since we’ve transferred to WordPress, we’ve been able to monitor the website’s performance through Google Analytics. With that, the GreenMellen team has been able to give us quarterly reports on the activity of our site. Overall, knowing our website performance helps us with our marketing endeavors, specifically on our digital marketing spending.

They do an excellent job from a project management standpoint, and they follow up regularly. They keep us on track, and they keep the ball moving. We communicate via email and virtual meetings.

We knew the look we were after and we wanted to use the "StoryBrand" methodology for creating content, etc. GreenMellen did an excellent job of meeting the StoryBrand criteria for a great website.

While we don't track the number of web visitors, clicks, etc. we can say that everyone who saw our previous website and now see our new website have given us Rave Reviews about how professional our new website looks.

GreenMellen staff are very professional and actually got me out of my own "lax" comfort zone by having me meet scheduled timelines for work to be done and me to provide some content for the website. They were very flexible and always made me feel like they are here to serve me on my schedule and tolerant of my delays.

From my own Christian faith and spirit, I could immediately sense the joy and peace in all of the people I worked with at GreenMellen. Again, they were willing and ready to provide whatever I needed and they gave excellent expert guidance along the way when I didn't know what I wanted or how to word things, etc.

We needed to rebrand and reignite our web presence. Our old website hadn’t been updated in many years, and it didn’t reflect the new nature of our business.

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, GreenMellen met with us to inquire about what we did as a business. They also asked us to describe how we envisioned ourselves as a firm and what we envisioned ourselves providing to our clients. Additionally, they asked us to direct them to some of our regular clients to ask them the same questions, trying to understand how we branded ourselves and compare it to how our clients felt about us.

After this exercise, GreenMellen gathered the information to build an updated and more accurate brand identity for us, which we’ve implemented into our marketing materials and online presence.

GreenMellen has also helped us redesign our website, building a new framework to represent our brand accurately. This is an ongoing process, and we keep making progress. So far, they’ve added different features to our site, like a blog and a portfolio. Recently, we also added a staff and careers page.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to GreenMellen’s work and the consultation they’ve given us, we’ve expanded our online presence to LinkedIn. We’re also gaining new business and getting messages on our site about new projects, which didn’t happen before. Their impact on our business has been easily measurable, and we can clearly see what they’re doing for us.

The fact that we can see analytics on our website is also great — I’m not sure we were able to do that before. This information helps us see what people are doing on our site to find out what is interesting to them and make appropriate changes to improve and make it more functional. We’re also posting so regularly that GreenMellen has taken over some of those posts as we continue to work together.

How did GreenMellen perform from a project management standpoint?

GreenMellen’s project management is great. They follow up on everything, and they’re very flexible. Brooke has pushed the project along, following every step and facilitating our interactions with the rest of the team. I’ve been nothing but impressed with how easy it is to follow up on the project from our end; we’ve just provided them with the information they need, and they’ve made everything else happen.

We have quarterly meetings to address what we’ve done and look into our site’s analytics, which helps us figure out the next steps to continue growing our web presence. Additionally, most of our communications are via email, and we’ve talked over the phone a couple of times. They usually send drafts or content pieces that they’re going to add to the site via email, which is great.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Although many people can build a website, GreenMellen offers the complete package. They’ve not only created our website, but they’re building our brand identity. From the start, they were very willing to dig deep into who we were and who our clients thought we were to provide us with that identity.

Now, we can build on this identity. GreenMellen didn’t provide us with a final product; it is just the beginning of our journey. We see them as a partner, and they’re looking at this partnership as a long-term investment, which is a huge differentiator of theirs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. They’ve understood our particular needs and challenges, and they’ve been very flexible.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t call GreenMellen if you’re unwilling to do your project right; they’re not the cheap solution nor the short answer. You need to trust that they’ll help you grow and build something bigger and better for the long term, so you shouldn’t look at them as an expense but rather as an investment.

GreenMellen’s services are not economical, but what they charge is in line with the quality of service they offer. Expect a partner who will do things right and bring big ideas to the table. They’re big thinkers, and they do great, detailed, and thorough work.

I’m the president of Global Servant Leaders, a mentoring organization. I’ve worked for about 15 years in ministry missions, so this is somewhat an extension of that work. We help leaders in difficult places around the world.

We wanted to do a number of things both in-person and digitally to help leaders in various countries. With that in mind, I reached out to GreenMellen to create a simple website that was cross-cultural and eye-catching. We also planned to adapt and expand the website to other things we wanted to do in the future.

What was the scope of their involvement?

GreenMellen built the website from scratch. We underwent a discovery process over several months; I sat down with them to share my vision and how I’d word it. Then, we had a brainstorming session where we talked about their ideas on how to use that verbiage and how to reach our audience. In other words, they didn’t only work on developing my website; they also helped me keep my vision succinct and draw people to it. 

What is the team composition?

I initially worked with three people, including Micky (Partner & Technical Director) and Ali (Partner & Creative Operations Director). Another person worked with us to make sure the whole process went through. Afterward, I worked with a person who helped me with the verbiage and listened to my stories about the ministries I worked in — he was a wordsmith. 

Once we had everything together, a fourth person worked with me and guided the advertising part of the engagement. A couple of other people sat in during our meetings.

How much have you invested with them?

The website cost $5,000. We also paid $80 per month for ensuring the website was virus-free and up to date. 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement lasted from August–November 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I spent a lot of time meeting with people and connections to tell them about my business. I gave them my business card and asked them to check out the website and let me know what they thought. I’ve received a lot of positive feedback; they said that the business looked truly professional and they could see my vision. All of these were the result of spending more time working on the website.

Apart from receiving positive feedback, I also received donations through the people that went to the website. There were three different buttons that would help visitors donate in some way. Overall, GreenMellen turned out to be effective in what I was trying to achieve. 

How did GreenMellen perform from a project management standpoint?

GreenMellen was great in this area. Their project manager was on top of everything; they worked with me and always told me what we’d do next — they were truly intentional about doing things right with the right attitude. I could be picky, and I never sensed any frustrations on their part. In other words, they truly wanted to make me happy with their product. They even spent some extra time working with me beyond the allotted schedule to make sure everything was right.

The team used a specific project management tool, and they were one of the most organized groups I’d ever seen. They not only knew what they were going to do; they also knew how to do it. There might have been things they could’ve done better, but my experience was so positive that it was hard to notice such things — everything went smoothly. 

To communicate, our initial meeting was done in person. After that, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the rest of our meetings were done via Zoom. Micky also set up a few phone calls to discuss the project. He sent me his available time slots, and I could pick one of those to schedule a call. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

GreenMellen worked well as a team, and everybody knew what their role was. On top of that, they seemed to genuinely love their job, and they loved working with other people. They were excited about my vision and in helping me develop it. Moreover, they emphasized the relationship aspect of the engagement as much as they did with the business aspect. Other teams usually went only one way. 

In fact, Micky regularly published articles on Twitter and LinkedIn about how people could manage their teams efficiently, creating a smorgasbord of ways to help people in business. Overall, I was truly impressed that they were business-minded and relationship-focused at the same time. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Occasionally, I had to ask them what we were doing and what I needed to do next. To be fair, this was as much caused by my ignorance as their not communicating well. In any case, they did an excellent job overall. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t try to rush through the process. Let GreenMellen take their time. They’ll ask you about everything you think and want to do. At the same time, they’ll be truly intentional about giving their opinions, so listen to them and ask them why they have that kind of opinion. 

Overall, the relationship must be a give-and-take process. Tell them exactly what you think, and listen carefully to what they’re saying. Be sure to interact as much as you can because they like that. In other words, be fully engaged with them and don’t rush anything. You’ll get a much better product when you’re done.

I'm the founder and co-owner of CEU Creations - a unique education company that provides required CE trainings to helping professionals.

As a small business with a unique niche in educational trainings - we are constantly searching for ways to improve our website to drive sales for our different services. When we founded our business 10 years ago - we used Green Mellen's services to create our first website.

We interviewed several website developers - but using Green Mellen 10 years ago solidified that they were a good match for our website revamp.

In Feb, 2020, we had a kick-off meeting with Green Mellen to begin work on revamping our logo and website. COVID literally hit less than a month later. Being an educational training company (with most of our trainings previously in-person), COVID forced us to change our business model overnight.

The excellent team at Green Mellen worked with us during this challenging time - helping us to navigate these unexpected changes and create a clean, efficient, beautifully designed website. In addition, they created an updated logo that makes us smile everytime we look at it and has received rave reviews from our customers.

After launching our site - we have received many comments about "how clean" the site looks and how "easy it is to navigate". As mentioned previously, our new logo makes us all smile and receives rave reviews from our customers.

We had close communication with Brooke, our project manager throughout the project. With the changes we needed to make due to COVID - pushed back our timeline and changed some of our original services.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They provided a beautiful, updated website that is easy and efficient for our customers to navigate. In addition, they are very "hands-on" - you can tell each member of the team genuinely cares about their work, the client and the end goal.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There were some minor issues when the site launched with some complicated "bundle" packages we were offering. The team worked closely with us to find solutions that were efficient, cost-effective and solved the problem.
