I am a Software Development Manager at Vitality. Discovery is the holding company and I originally work for them in South Africa and also worked with Glucode in South Africa.

For what projects/services did your company hire Glucode, and what were your goals?

Create a bespoke mobile app for our members and build on it by adding iterative releases to include new initiatives.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Although the contract was already in place when I joined I was delighted to be able to work with this company again. They have an excellent record for delivering top quality software development in line with the Company deadlines. As mentioned I worked with them in South Africa on a bespoke product for HealthCare Professional which revolutionized the industry.

I came in at the tail end of the drive project. The build completed in my 2nd Month as per the date selected. The initial build was an alpha launch. Then a Staff Launch followed by a Public launch. It was a very complex project with several integrations and an SDK. Glucode did everything possible to make sure this was a success including doing a Google submission for their Android build and a 2 week process was approved in days.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I don't have access to the app rating data but I can say that there are several drive policies that have now been bought.

PM is primarily handled by Vitality and we do liaise with the team for estimates and work with them to make sure that the scope is understood and communicated.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are professional in their approach. Even though we work with them remotely and they are contractors they do everything to integrate with their teams. Every person in the team is highly skilled and professional. They also freely offer advise on design and integration.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I haven't worked with this team long enough to say that there is something that they could have done differently. In South Africa I feel that there was a period of transition with a new product owner and the replacement did not seem to be able to integrate as well with the team.
