We have been working with Gempool to source and shortlist candidates for some key roles in ERS. ERS shares a verbal and written brief with GemPool who then identify suitable candidates for us. This removes the need for us to do extensive searches for candidates. At times they have also helped create job specs and suggested recruitment and hiring processes. We also look to GemPool to do some industry benchmarks and share reports with us.

They are eager to meet the brief at all times. I appreciate we are dealing with people in identifying candidates and confirming their availability so it is a difficult role but for the most part GemPool deliver CVs and candidates on time. They are keen to solicit feedback and ensure that they are delivering to the brief which is appreciated.

I’m the HR director of an e-learning company for clinical trials.

We needed to recruit people for our development team.

GemPool has been recruiting Ruby on Rails software developers for us; they’ve helped with several placements. We explain to their team what we offer and what we need from a potential collaborator, such as salary and experience, and then they provide the CVs to us.

We mainly work with Sarah (Recruiter).

How did you come to work with GemPool?

They were referred to us by a colleague of ours. We decided to work with them because they provided us top CVs from the beginning, so we knew their work was quality.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2017, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Most of our software development team has come from GemPool’s recruitment team, which is important and a good sign for us — top-quality candidates come through them.

How did GemPool perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m delighted with them in that area; we communicate daily by email and phone calls. They’re efficient and always reply.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their attitude and attention to detail distinguish them; Sarah knows what we’re looking for and what we expect from them. We have a solid working relationship that has built up over the years.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re finding it difficult to find developers at the moment, but that’s due to the COVID-19 pandemic we’re facing, and I know that’s not their fault at all.

I am the CTO of a large beauty and Aesthetic business with 1,000+ employees.

For what projects/services did your company hire GemPool?

While the company itself is established, the company wanted to head in a more technology lead direction. This required the creation of a new technology division and aggressively hiring out a talented team across product management, design, data and a diverse set of engineering roles. For this, we needed Gempools help as a partner to source the right type of talent for us.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

There were two stages to the selection of the vendor. Initially it was a track record we had seen in the industry and in other companies that created the initial engagement. Once this was in place we assigned some roles directly to Gempool to source as a form of a trial.

During this period Gempool consistently sourced candidates of high quality. This reduced our overhead in terms of sourcing, it also reduced wasted early-stage interviews with people who wouldn't be a fit as Gempool only sent us good candidates. As a result of this, we had built up a lot of trust, so we assigned a set of dedicated roles only to Gempool which allowed them to focus on Therapie.

They initially helped us to set up the story for our project. Helping us shape the story that we went to market with, honing it over time. They then handled all of the sourcing and outreach to potential candidates, including screening initial prospects. Following on from this they then ran outbound advertising and took on a dedicated partner roll filling our team.

Their director was the main point of contact and depending on the role we had specialist recruiters assigned to work with us to find the fit we needed.

Now with a team of 30, almost half of our entire team came through Gempool which is a huge success.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Each hiring manager has dedicated conversations with the specialist recruiter on the Gempool side, we then also had regular monthly catch ups at each level up the chain.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

When it comes to hiring it's all about the quality of the people you find. Gempool has consistently delivered high value and so above all else this is the most impressive part.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I think we should have gone for the dedicated partner approach with roles fenced off for Gempool earlier

GemPool provides permanent recruitment for us. This includes executive-level headhunting and placements across design, software development, software testing, web, sales, and admin. They handle all roles and deliver complete solutions that are tailored to our needs to help us grow. All the staff that they’ve onboarded are put through some KPIs and personal development analysis.

I work with 5–6 people, including Michael (Director), whom I work with very closely. I also work with his other senior recruiters.

How did you come to work with GemPool?

Dublin is a small place, but there are many known recruiters across the industry. I went with GemPool because of Michael, who was very genuine, kind, and trustworthy.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project began in May 2017, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Most of the teammates that GemPool has recruited for me have been assigned to full-time positions. For me, that speaks for itself.

How did GemPool perform from a project management standpoint?

GemPool conducts their services at a speedy turnaround, and they’re always on the other end of the phone. Hence, we feel highly supported by the team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re always satisfied and happy with their work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Overall, I can’t fault them for anything. However, like every recruiter out there, they could screen candidates a bit better before onboarding them into the agency. It’s only minor feedback, though.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Start the engagement off with Michael, and he will assign his senior people accordingly. Additionally, always keep Michael in the loop.
