Game Ace provided consulting, technical planning, and documentation for the development of our game project, FAME. During the initial phase, their team walked us through multiple development options and platform strategies before helping us determine that launching the game on Roblox would be the best approach for scalability and audience reach.

Over the course of several months, Game Ace worked with our team to define the core gameplay structure, player systems, and technical framework for the project. They also produced a comprehensive Game Design Document (GDD), outlining the mechanics, progression systems, and overall structure required to develop the game.

Their work included evaluating multiplayer systems, advising on the technical architecture for the platform, and helping translate our vision into a structured development plan that can be executed by a game development team.

The engagement resulted in several key deliverables that moved the project forward significantly. Game Ace helped us finalize the decision to launch the game on Roblox, which provided clarity around the technical direction and target platform for development.

One of the most important outcomes was the creation of a comprehensive Game Design Document (GDD). This document clearly outlines the gameplay systems, player progression, core mechanics, and overall structure of the game, giving us a detailed blueprint for development.

In addition, their team helped establish the technical roadmap and development framework needed to move into production. As a result, we now have a structured plan, documented systems, and a defined platform strategy that allows us to confidently proceed into the next phase of development.

Several key individuals from Game Ace were involved in making this engagement successful.

Julia (Senior Business Development Manager) played an important role in aligning the business vision of the project and helping ensure the opportunity for the game continues to move forward. She has been very hands-on in facilitating conversations, connecting the right people, and helping guide the path from the Game Design Document (GDD) phase toward the proof-of-concept and eventual launch. It genuinely feels like we have someone on our side helping move the project forward.

Dmytro (Project Manager) and Serhii (Delivery Manager & PMO) worked closely together to ensure the project progressed smoothly. They were highly involved in coordinating meetings, managing timelines, and making sure our team understood each phase of the planning and design process.

Both Dmytro and Serhii were extremely hands-on during the development of the Game Design Document, helping guide discussions around game systems and ensuring that the design process stayed organized and productive. They also worked with us during the period when we were assembling funding to complete the GDD, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative approach throughout the engagement.

What impressed me most about Game Ace was how hands-on their team was throughout the entire process. This was not just a transactional engagement where a document was produced and delivered. Their team took the time to truly understand the vision of the project and worked closely with us to translate that vision into a structured development plan.

They were very collaborative during the design phase, helping guide conversations around gameplay systems, platform strategy, and development structure. They also demonstrated a high level of professionalism and flexibility while we were finalizing funding for the Game Design Document, continuing to work with us and ensuring the project stayed on track.

Another unique aspect was their ability to bridge both the technical and strategic sides of game development. They helped us evaluate different development paths before ultimately structuring the project for launch on Roblox, and their team remained engaged in helping move the project toward the next phases, including proof-of-concept and production planning.

Fast response times; low-ego responses to feedback (negative or positive) with prompt correction of identified issues; high visual fidelity; well put together game assets that were easy to integrate.

Items were delivered within the agreed to time frame, with many of the assets shown and adjusted along the way; their PM did a good job of keeping things moving and prompting us for feedback and approval to ensure things kept moving.  When issues were brought up, they were very quick to fix and adjust, whether by iterating on the asset, asking clarifying questions, or trying to hone in on the specifics in reference materials that we were responding to most positively.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their overall flexibility was impressive. Their PM matched our working cadence pretty closely, so from our perspective, there was very little down-time.  Likewise, the promptness with which they moved to correct any problem was surprising - there weren't really delays from their side, we were usually the delay vector, heh.

Probably, but I'm struggling to come up with specifics.

The purpose of this project was to create concept art for two characters for an in-development computer/video game. Both characters required a number of different variants. The idea is that the concept art could serve as the basis for the 3D character models that would be used in the final game.

Deliverables:

1. Character portraits (head and shoulders) for the characters, including all variants (seven in total).
2. Full-body character art for three character variants.
