I saved valuable time by not having to create the website by myself. I also saved money by not needing to hire someone.

Email, video tutorials, & Google forms made the process smooth. I received emails following up with me if I didn't respond, which was very helpful also.

I was impressed by how easy the process was...the video tutorials were very helpful in simplifying everything.

I’ve wanted a website since my business opened a couple of years ago. I knew that without a website, my business lacked a certain level of credibility. Although important, with such a busy schedule, I kept pushing it to the backburner so that I could manage my team and focus on my business’ clients.

I resolved that I would need to invest my time and finances into finding a website designer. I was so happy and almost in disbelief when I was referred to The Free Website Guys! I applied, and was happy to get approved. The process was EXTREMELY smooth and easy. Sven, Lead Developer, and the entire team, was incredibly helpful, patient in answering my questions, and thorough with the detailed and easy to follow instructions through email and video tutorials.

To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect from a website that offers to build websites for free, but they exceeded my expectations and I look forward to working with Sven and the guys on some bigger projects as my business expands!

I appreciated the guidance about the available upgrades, without pressure, and being able to weigh the pros and cons with the different decisions available throughout the process.

One of the most impressive things was active communication - I knew every step of the way what was happening, was engaged in the process, and trusted the product would turn out nicely because of the feedback I was able to provide.

Additonally, they gave me a professional website at minimal cost (I chose some upgrades) that will be easy for me to maintain

Not only did they make the process incredibly easy and fun, but they also made sure to include my input every step of the way. It’s one thing having someone build you a practical site (which alone would’ve been helpful), but it’s another thing watching someone work diligently to transform your vision into reality. I am so appreciative of their patience, help, and ability to make magic happen.

Not that I can think of. They met all of my requirements.

Our quilt guild began the process of changing websites.  When Free Website Guys offered their service on Facebook, I applied on the guild's behalf.

We did not qualify for their free service because we were already hosted by their preferred hosing service.  We paid the requested $150 and began the process.

This was on October 26, 2025.

Fast forward to December 1st......

I have been awaiting a response from 4 separate emails (dating back to Dec 1st from S***) regarding the completion of our All Star Quilters.org website.     I would appreciate a response.    

As far ask I know, there have been no cross words spoken, but to be honest, non-response is not acceptable.                       

This is the body of the last email that sent 2 days ago: Dear S***,

I am writing to request a clear update on the status of the website handover we previously agreed upon.

I have been patient, understanding of delays, and accommodating while waiting for this project to be completed. At this point, it is imperative that we establish a clear, mutual understanding of where the project currently stands and what the remaining timeline looks like.

Our initial conversation began on September 28, 2025. On October 4, you stated:

“In terms of the hand-over process, we set up the website for you (including the back-end and front-end, configuring security and SEO plugins, theme installation and customization, etc.), and then all you have to do is edit the content to your needs — in other words, editing the text, uploading photos, etc. We’ll send you a very detailed instructional video showing you how to do this. It’s quite easy.”

On December 1, after I followed up again, you responded:

“I’m so sorry about the delay here. Let me speak with the developer working on your site so that we get things back on track, and I’ll get back to you on what happened. I’ll make sure to prioritize things moving forward so there are no more delays… I’ll get back to you shortly with a timeline and a bit more detail on why there was such a delay.”

Since then, I have emailed you on December 10, December 18, and December 22. I have not received a response to any of those messages, nor have I received the instructional video that was promised.

Due to the importance of this website to my group (and nonrenewal of the original WIX website), I had to move forward independently by selecting the theme, setting up pages, and adding content. This is not what was originally promised. In the process, I also unknowingly launched the website. While it appears to be functioning, I have several questions and need guidance to ensure everything has been set up correctly.

At this point, I would appreciate clarification on the following:

Where the project currently stands

When I can expect the handover materials, including the instructional video

What support is still included so we can bring this project to a proper close

Please provide a timely response with clear next steps and a defined timeline.

As of now, our website is working and we are finally receiving emails - all with no thanks to the Free Website Guys.  I have seen the last month and a half figuring out (on my own) how to complete this project on my own.

At the end of it all, I would still like the promised videos but realize that will likely not happen.

The Free Website Guys was supposed to design our website, and we would upload the content. The team offered to build our new website at no charge, but the catch was that we had to use their partner Bluehost to host the new site, to which we agreed.

We don't know how many teammates from The Free Website Guys were assigned to our project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with The Free Website Guys at the end of June 2025, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven't seen any evidence that The Free Website Guys is building our website. We were hoping to see tangible proof in the form of the professional template we purchased per their recommendation uploaded to our WordPress site, ready for us to begin uploading content.

How did The Free Website Guys perform from a project management standpoint?

The Free Website Guys has been vague and slow to reply to our emails after reading them. We don't hear from our contact person until a week has passed. The team hasn't followed through or addressed our concerns in a timely manner or at all.

Communication has been a major issue. Our email feature shows that our messages to our contact have been opened, yet they often go without a response for over a week, even when marked urgent. The responses we do receive are frequently vague and fail to address all of our questions. This lack of transparency and the constant runaround is unacceptable.

What did you find most impressive or unique about them?

So far, we're not impressed with The Free Website Guys. They're uniquely consistent with not following through with their promises.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The Free Website Guys could actually follow through with what they promise and be more proactive when it comes to responding to emails. The team could also respond to customers' direct concerns without being so vague in their responses or replies.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

We strongly advise others to be aware of this before engaging with The Free Website Guys. So far, our experience has been one of unfulfilled promises and a serious lack of communication and transparency.

Working with The Free Website Guys has been such a good experience. I never thought I’d have a proper, fully functioning website built for my business this easily. The only thing I had to pay for was the hosting, and although there were lots of lovely free layouts, I ended up choosing a premium one in the end. Even with that, everything I spent was still under £100, which is amazing considering how much it normally costs to get a full site up and running.

Yes, they were prompt with responses and communiction and instructions were clear.

As someone with no IT knowledge at all, I expected more help with placing photos and text on the selected layout. I didn’t realise I’d have to do so much myself, and I had no idea how restrictive web design can be - even with a premium layout, I’ve really struggled to put it together. If it weren’t for ChatGPT helping me every step of the way, I probably would have given up. It’s not that they didn’t help, but I think it would have been helpful if they’d clearly explained upfront what they do and don’t assist with, especially for someone who’s a complete beginner.
