I was able to create a mockup what I wanted for a MVP. We looking into low/no-code options and ways to make sure that the platform was protected by HIPAA.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were able to set up Asana and Slack which helps to streamline communications. I never saw the need for a product manager but the project would not have been as successful without one honestly.

Yes, the items were delivered on time and we spent a lot of time organizing the flow. The response time of the team was always top tier and more than communicative.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

One of the things that I liked about the company was that they genuinely care about the product that they are developing for us. They want to make sure that I had everything I needed in the MVP and were genuinely invested in my success. Whenever I needed something, they were more than willing to go above and beyond to handle it for me.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Fraction could have done differently?

None at this time. I ended up coming up with a product before the time frame that I originally planned and under budget. I felt like they were apart of my team and not just a contracted company.

I’m the COO and co-founder of Rikor, an insurance brokerage.

Fraction provided us with resources to augment our development team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we underwent a discovery process where Fraction learned about our baseline needs and checked if their services were a good fit. I had a few calls with their team to see how things might turn out. We first used their talent as a product manager, but we realized we’d move in the right direction if we also had a developer.

At present, we continue to collaborate with the team. We have our own internal team, but as we grow, more maintenance is required for them to do. As a result, we still need our team to be augmented to bolster our innovation while maintaining what we already have.

We started the partnership in March 2023, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They’re excellent at finding and vetting talent. Fraction has successfully augmented our team and helped us integrate with third-party vendors and carriers. We’ve also had many successful code deployments. 

How did Fraction perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is great, and their members have excellent organizational skills while providing us with great value. I’m truly happy with their quality project and talent management. We use the standard tools for project management and communication, such as Asana, Trello, phone calls, emails, and Zoom.

Their CPO is impressive.

No, there aren’t any.

Have a clear product roadmap and define your technical goals clearly. From there, let Fraction consult and find the right talent for your needs.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

The project started with an investment proposal and analytics solution. This initially required a lot of backend development work, from creating the API endpoints to developing the calculation engine. From there, we need to create the frontend UI in order to create and run the investment proposals. Once the plan was laid out, we quickly realized that we could take this much further and decided to bolt on numerous applications, including new account opening and servicing.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

with each stage Fraction was great at making sure we got to a minimum viable product as fast as possible. This was vital to make sure the developers didn't waste time spinning their wheels. They laid out a great plan to get something done and then go back to test/improve.

They provided a project manager who organized our work and laid out deliverables with timelines. Development requires projects and timelines to be shifted based on priorities; however they were able to consistently hit deadlines.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

• Project 1: Web App Rewrite: 
  • Rewrite our web app in updated languages, using only two languages. 
  • During rewrite ensure that we have increased security and implement several improvements that have not been feasible previously. 
  • Add the ability for us to support multiple transaction processor options for customers. 
  • Make changes in order to manage data storage costs. 
  • Begin in January by researching current app and database. 
  • Be ready for Alpha 1 testing in May (ended up in July/August), with a Beta release to customers in the summer (pushed to fall). 
• Project 2: Mobile App Rewrite: We want to build a simplified event guest check-in app that sends and receives data online, removes the need for a hub/server, router or network, can be downloaded on both iOS and Android devices, and works in tandem with a mobile-optimized web app. Early in project determined we would include “Guest Management” features such as viewing groups, moving guests, seeing vacant seats, etc. Timeline: Begin in June to be ready with Web app Beta Release.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our new web app is in a local staging environment, but the Fraction team has provided regular demos during virtual meetings to show progress. They have rebuilt it feature by feature, product by product. Will be ready for Alpha 1 testing by staff in a week or so. The mobile app project has just begun.

Project Management has been something for all of us to work together to figure out. We have staff turn over after contracting with Fraction and had to change our point person for them. They've been very understanding and flexible. 

The team increased their level of project management for us and the project, overall, has been running quite smooth since that change. Plus, as we have had to figure out some points of the project along the way, the team has been a God-send as they've provided insight and recommendations.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Praveen, one of the founders, has been so willing to jump in, as needed, to meetings and offer his expertise. His insight truly is invaluable. The team has the development skills, but trusts us to know our customers. They've been very flexible as our needs have grown and changed, and could easily find an additional developer with just the skill set we needed. They've also been able to onboard new developers very quickly.

Nothing comes to mind.
