I am the Founder of a start-up called UNTAGGED which is a new fashion resale platform.

Fishfinger helped us to develop the brand: we needed a new name, a visual identity, tone of voice and brand guidelines.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to create a brand that would appeal to an 18-24 yr old fashion-loving audience. It needed to have unisex appeal so that it could extend from the initial female target to men, and not alienate older consumers. It needed to feel fresh and fun, vs. the number one resale platform, ebay.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We spoke to a number of branding agencies, but liked fishfinger's portfolio. They had created some really striking brands that we felt would appeal to our target audience. Other agencies we spoke to wanted to play things too safe: we wanted to act as a real challenger and disrupt the market.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

The agency started by clarifying the brief. They then send us some naming options, and we were immediately drawn to UNTAGGED. We went through a number of rounds of concept development, where the fishfinger team were very flexible and patient as the brief evolved and our expectations changed.

We finally landed on a creative direction, and then very quickly, the design route came together to become the brand that we are now using.

What was the team composition?

I worked with 3 members of the team, at different stages of the process. Unfortunately COVID hit as we were in the middle of the development, but the team didn't let this slow them down and we still managed to complete the project within our timeframe.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are very happy with the creative direction the team developed. It has made it very easy for us to develop our website and social media, and we have had lots of very positive feedback on how fresh, fun and professional everything looks.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The team worked very efficiently. All the work, apart from the initial briefing was done remotely, but this did not hinder the project in any way.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Very flexible, very enthusiastic about the project, and despite the changes to the brief, they came up with a fabulous creative solution.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We were very happy with the service.

I’m now a project manager of a trade association group. However, during this engagement, I was the head of communications.

What challenge were you trying to address with Fishfinger Creative Agency?

We wanted to create a campaign that’d communicate some simple messages about the way insurance works to a general audience. Our team wanted to create some engaging digital content that looked and felt different from what had gone before it. Consequently, we engaged Fishfinger in order to create that content.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Fishfinger created a new website and a set of 15–20-second digital animations using creative concepts to communicate things like home insurance, motor insurance, and travel insurance.

We gave Fishfinger a lot of creative freedom, and they created the concepts. They came up with the idea we eventually chose. The animations were created to live on the website, and we also share them on social media. Fishfinger was responsible for creating and hosting the content, in addition to making sure the content was right.

Our team helped with the accuracy and wording of the animations because obviously, their understanding of our industry isn’t as strong as ours. However, all the creative elements of it were theirs, and we worked collaboratively on it.

They also created a website from scratch and it was separate from our existing one. It goes alongside our website; however, we wanted a completely different look and feel for this campaign. Our corporate-looking website wasn’t the right fit for the objectives we wanted to achieve.

What is the team composition?

We worked with two people regularly, and they brought in others when needed. Richard (Director) was the main point of contact for me and he even came and saw us in-person. He’s an engaging guy.

How did you come to work with Fishfinger Creative Agency?

I don’t remember exactly how we found Fishfinger, but it might’ve been one of my team members who discovered them. We were talking to various agencies, and they were the ones that came in and impressed us the most.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent about £200,000 (approximately $247,000 USD) in total, but not all of that money went to Fishfinger because we had a buying agency as well.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement started around January 2017 and is ongoing. However, relations are currently more ad-hoc than systematic. The work is based on when we have the capacity to think about it and the resources to pay.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

An analysis of the social media campaign found that it really resonated with individuals between the ages of 18–45. We got a good reach and hit all of our targets for the campaign. What’s more, we also received positive feedback from our members as well as from regulators, MPs, and so on. The positive feedback wasn’t just from the hard evaluation and metrics, but we also received it from stakeholders.

We initially wanted to test it with all demographics to see how it went down, and then later we targeted towards that group. It was an important group for us to reach. Just with the way we ran the campaign, we didn’t have an initial age demographic and we learned as we went along.

How did Fishfinger Creative Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Fishfinger delivered things on time and was very clear in the way they both pitched and priced the idea. Also, they stuck to the budget we agreed upon. We have no complaints at all.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The thing that most impressed me was their creativity. Fishfinger created an idea that was innovative and something we wouldn’t have thought of; and then they executed it really well. Just in terms of pure concepts and content creation, they were fantastic.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wouldn’t consider this criticism at all because it isn’t really what they do but a vital part of campaigns is how the content reaches the audiences. This isn’t something that Fishfinger has an offering in because it’s not their technical expertise. What they did for us was more focused on the creative aspects of the campaign. They were good at juicing the ideas, and it was our role to then work out how to get those ideas in front of people.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice would be to go to them if you want something creative and unusual. Don’t go to them if you want some humdrum corporate job. They’re great at doing things that’ll surprise you.

I have the co-founder of Cyclo Technology. We are a start-up developing products that make sustainable urban transport simpler and safer for everyone. Our launch product is a 'packable' helmet for users of bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters which is made from recycled ocean plastic.

We asked Fishfinger to develop an entirely new visual identity for our company. We needed a full set of assets and brand guidelines.

What were your goals for this project?

To have a brand 'look and feel' for business and the products we develop.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We wrote a brief and shared it with four different creative agencies. Fishfinger's response to this was the most compelling and priced very competitively.

The headlines deliverable for the visual ID work:

• Re-work/overhaul our logo
• Confirm an extended colour palette
• Review and confirm our typography/font
• Create a series of other graphical assets
• Confirm a final set of brand guidelines

We also asked Fishfinger to quote for additional website and packaging design work that we hope to carry out later this year.

What was the team composition?

Across the project we worked with Richard S. (founder and MD), John W. (Head Designer) and Kimmy L. (Designer). All were excellent to work with and kept us informed of progress and developments throughout.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have an entirely new brand that we are very happy with. This hasn't yet been rolled out publicly. However everyone has seen it so far (our board and several potential investors) have been hugely complimentary.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

This worked very well. A blend of email and phone calls worked well. Their team was always clear about how best to get clear, workable feedback from us that could be put into action. We also know how many rounds of feedback we have for each phase of the project.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

At every stage, their team went above and beyond what was expected of them to create really high-quality design work. This means we now have a brand identity that matches our ambitions and will enable our business to grow.

Are there any areas for improvement?

It is hard to fault the team. We got excellent results and really good value for money.

I’m the finance director of Delphi Food Products, a food manufacturer. We make dips, salads, olives, and tapas products and distribute them throughout the EMEA region.

What challenge were you trying to address with Fishfinger Creative Agency?

Our packaging at the time didn’t reflect the brand values of our business. We needed to modernize the brand while reflecting our family business nature. We also wanted to create a website or digital platform that tied with our brand and that we could use as an effective B2B marketing tool.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

It was a 360-degree offering, including branding, packaging, and a digital platform. Fishfinger completely scrapped the old website and built a brand-new one. As far as our budget extended, it included digital marketing. For us, it was mainly SEO, focused on Google searches. We’re a B2B business, so we generally don’t go directly to the customer. Our marketing was more restricted on that side. 

We gave Fishfinger a fair amount of leeway on the creative process. We set objectives as to what we wanted the brand and our website to reflect, and we also set up budgetary limitations. We had initial brainstorming sessions with Fishfinger, whereby we tackled all the objectives we wanted to meet in this process. There was a fair amount of back-and-forth until we settled on a strategy and brand strategy that we were happy with.

What is the team composition?

There were three people from Fishfinger working on our project. Most of the people inside our organization were engaged at a certain level.

How much have you invested with them?

The project was about £30,000–£35,000 (approximately $37,000–$43,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

I believe the project started in December 2018. The website was already done by January or February 2019, and most of the packaging designs arrived in March the same year. We went live with the new packaging around May 2019. We’ve been working with Fishfinger on an ongoing basis since then.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are seeing a year-on-year uplift in sales volume of 20%–30%. I’m imagining that the branding has contributed a fair amount to that. 

We weren’t necessarily concerned over website visits and whether they convert into more sales. It was important to have a strong, robust website because the initial communication with supermarket buyers and other businesses would be through the website. Having a very good B2B-geared website has helped with engagement.

We’re pleased with the look of the site. It was quite a change to what we were doing initially. I think that everyone’s pleased with the branding as well. We’re constantly doing work on it, and I think that we all view it as necessary. 

How did Fishfinger Creative Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

They are very responsive and available. We know when we can get a hold of them, and they are quite flexible. Some of us here can tend to be a bit pushy: when we want answers, we want them now, and Fishfinger is quite reactive to that. 

It’s also well-managed. They hit their deadlines and objectives, and they manage us quite well. If they think there’ll be some slippage, we know about it well in advance. They don’t really make promises they can’t keep.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I think that their ideas are quite creative, which is pretty much what we’re looking for from a creative agency. Fishfinger has been quite brave in their choices. It hasn’t been cookie-cutter at all, considering that we were the first food manufacturer they worked with. I think they’ve found the project enjoyable. Any truly creative person will relish the challenge of doing something different. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I think there’s a fair amount of reliance placed on Richard (Director), who I believe generates quite a lot of the creative content. Other than that, they’re quite a good agency. They’d probably struggle to cater for a very large corporation, but for an organization up to the £100 million mark, I think they’d be really good.  

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Be straightforward, bold, and concise in presenting whatever the objectives are, and trust them a bit in the creative process. Fishfinger’s ideas can be a bit out there, but I think they’re good.

We work in a fun an interactive environment and wanted our Health & Safety E-learning videos to carry on that same trend to separate them from the normal ‘off the shelf’ style that you can purchase.

We wanted to turn the normal H&S training that is required for employees into a fun and interactive E-learning video that matched our creative workplaces

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Fish Finger was chosen as there presentation and style really suited our business approach to the workplace and they where able to bring very creative and unique ideas to the project. They took on-board what we where after and turned it into reality

Once selected we provided a basic script of the key information that was required and any key points/visual that we wanted to be included. Fish Finger then turned this into a visual script. Fish Finger provided different voice over examples for us to listen to and then hosted the voiceover sessions whilst we where apart of this session Fish Finger ran them and really took control to ensure the delivery of the message was inline to the creative E-learning Fish Finger set up the appropriate meetings to discuss their progress and share their approach and ideas, this allowed each step of the process to be checked and vetted to ensure it was in-line with our ideas whilst allowing Fish Finger to be creative and take the idea to the next level

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Fish Finger provided one key account manager who was our main point of contact throughout the process to ensure consistency across the project, it also allowed them to spend time with us and get to know the business, a team of animators worked on the project and through the account manager any edits where made

The E-learning videos where well received and our employees appreciated a different approach towards the normal H&S E-learnings.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The process and set up of the E-learning creating was very simple, Fish Finger use easy to use narrative story boards and allow for each stage of the process to be captured. Regular updates where received and shared with the team

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They have a great ability to see beyond the basic requirement and want of the customer and come back with a brilliant and creative idea that can be explored and expanded on during the process as they are flexible and willing to ensure they meet the clients requirements, no job is to small they really care.

Haven’t come across anything during the time I have worked with them.

We had an old logo that needed to be refreshed. We also needed help with packaging design.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They did our logo design and packaging design. I wanted to get the vintage feel across, which the old logo did, but the new logo highlighted the gelato part as well.

I met with three people. In the end, I communicated with the main person responsible for the logo design.

Originally, I found them through a Google search. I initially approached them for web design. I didn’t think we’d work with them on the packaging and the logo. We didn’t end up using them for web design because it was too expensive. They do really high-end, high-tech work that was way out of our budget.

We started working together in January-December 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They did a good job. They understood what we were after. They picked up on the whole vibe of the old logo and refreshed it in a good way. They got the gist of it quickly. The packaging was spot on. It looks fantastic. I’m very impressed. It’d be hard to ask for a better job.

They would have finished earlier, but we took some time on our side. It allows me to launch and start selling my packaged products. They were 30% more expensive in terms of the packaging and the logo design compared to a similar firm with a whole lot of experience in food. We were their first or second food-related project. They’re on the expensive side.

How did Fishfinger Creative Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

I have no complaints. It went very smoothly. They would reply to emails within 2-3 days, which was quite good. I told them what flavors we would have and they took charge of everything else. We are planning to hire them again as we go forward.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The packaging is really impressive. They got the color combinations and designs on the packaging really well. Everything they created for us really stands out.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could be slightly less expensive, but it was a very good investment overall.

Have a clear idea of what you want. If you’re clear, things move much easier.

For what projects/services did your company hire Fishfinger Creative Agency?

We used Fishfinger for two design projects. Firstly we used them for a branding project, which included a logo, some animated illustrations and a website. Secondly, we used them for an app UX/UI design project, which included extensive screen designs, a clickable prototype and animation/microinteraction design.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a fun brand and app design, that didn't make us look and feel like other proptech companies, so that we could stand out.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We found Fishfinger online, contacted them and went to see them at their offices to discuss our branding project. We liked their design work and felt they understood what we were after, and that combined with their price point meant we were happy to move forward with them.

We started the UX/UI project a bit further down the line, but were keen to go with them for this too, after having worked with them on the branding for a while.

Describe the project in detail.

For both projects, we had multiple catch ups and discussions in person at their offices, via email and on the phone. The process for the branding project consisted of a mood board, and various concepts for the logo, colour scheme, illustration style and illustration content.

The process for the UX/UI project included wireframes and designed screens, with multiple iterations for each. Throughout the process for both projects, we found that Fishfinger had very useful suggestions and advice and were happy to work together with us to produce outputs that were to a high quality and that we were really happy with.

We had one person who was the main point of contact for the branding project and another person who was the main point of contact for the UX/UI project. We had interactions with a few other team members too throughout the process though, and our understanding is that our projects were worked on by multiple members of the Fishfinger team.

We are still in the early stages of our startup and product launch, but we are really happy with the design work we have received!

We liked how Fishfinger came up with lots of interesting and fun ideas. They were very patient with us as we worked through different options and iterations.

It would have been great to finish the projects faster than we did, but the length of time it took was largely related to the number of iterations we went through with them, which they were happy to do for us.
