fishbat first had a phone call and wanted to hear what we are looking for.

We then sent them the deck we had.

fishbat then showed us a few slides of their proposed template (along with some copy). We made a few tweaks and they took our feedback, made the tweaks and eventually sent us the entire investor deck.

Once we all went over the investor deck, we made some small copy changes, they changed them and the final product was an investor deck that we love.

The team has developed strategies for how and where to market, including social media, platforms, keywords, and more. The team has also provided recommendations for content marketing. For example, after we settle a case, they put out a press release.

They have yielded results at an astronomical level. The team has done a very strategic campaign that has yielded results at a macro level. The better cases come through the website, not the call center. They have shifted the guidance toward the website intake, and our call center bill has lowered to $300–$400 a month.
I say with full conviction that they will be our marketing agency as long as I'm in this business.

How did fishbat Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They have stayed on budget and met deadlines. When there’s something that needs to be done quickly, the team is on a meeting with me via Zoom to discuss the project. By the next day, the team is already working on the project and releasing it. We use Microsoft Teams for meetings.

I'm impressed with the team that Scott and Clay have built. Michelle and Rena are an integral part of our practice’s success. They're always available and provide solutions to problems. If there's a problem, they identify it and call me with options to fix it.

They did exactly what they said they would. The team came up with the idea of creating a monthly newsletter that highlighted our products and spotlighted a new restaurant every month, which was a great idea.

They met deadlines and stayed on budget. We communicated mostly through phone calls, and the team came into the office when needed, because they were local. They pretty much grant things on their own.

Their work was centered around SEO services, primarily through content syndication and promotion. Our internal team continues to conduct research and analysis on certain topics before producing content in-house. That ensures that we’re getting experts writing individual pieces of content. 

fishbat Media assists with broader search intent for our content. We’ll provide a handful of terms we want to target, and they’ve been skilled at broadening our goals while promoting it across channels. They also create supplementary content that can go hand-in-hand with what we produce. This process brings visibility to our existing content while capturing long-tail terms that the original piece couldn’t do on its own.

We met them several years ago through a mutual contact while we were headquartered in New York. We’ve been agency partners since 2016. What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our traffic from organic search is up 25% and sales from organic search increased by 9%. We anticipate these numbers to rise because their SEO results seem to be compounding over time.

Their promotions release schedule has been accurate. The days they say content is being published, it is. I’m comfortable with our partnership and no longer feel the need to check up on their progress too often. Instead, I can rely on their ability to stick to the schedule. 

On the content production end, they’ve exceeded expectations in coming up with creative ways to turn our concepts into unique pieces of content. They’ve done a great job with that.  

How did fishbat Media perform from a project management standpoint?

First and foremost, their organization and handling of their projects is first-class. They assigned a project manager to our account, and together we laid out a schedule composed of deadlines. They’ve adhered to them very closely, which hasn’t been common in my experiences with other companies. We have weekly meetings where we recap what’s planned for the next week and discuss concerns.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They offer a very clear methodology with a unique, creative spin compared to other SEO companies. Unlike their competitors, they strive to get a deep understanding of our business and how to make the most of the engagement. Additionally, having contact with the owner has been very helpful throughout. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only thing that could use some improvement is content editing. We have writers and resources here, so we were able to give their content a second look. However, some of the editing and phrasing could’ve been a bit more precise. That’s my only critique. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Regardless of your background in digital marketing and SEO, listen to their suggestions. While I have a decent background in the field, there were concepts that they touched on that I wasn’t sure about at first. Staying open-minded allowed me to be proved wrong, benefitting our company as a result. Use them as a resource to guide your solutions.

I am the Senior Vice President of Property Operations and Maintenance Services for development and property management company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Fishbat Media?

Fishbat is our marketing vendor, helping with our website, internal marketing with tenants, and external marketing through the web. We didn’t have a marketing team prior to hiring Fishbat. Initially, we wanted to gain public awareness and drive traffic, both from our initial contact lists and through Google and Facebook. We wanted to create buzz for our property and asked Fishbat to assist with closing leads through the internet and our Constant Contact lists. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired Fishbat to market our recently opened luxury apartment complex in Greenwich. They have helped us with our contact list, updated our blogs, and provided general SEO content for Google based on our requirements. Fishbat has also created, sent, and managed most of our newsletters.

They manage our Facebook page and all its posts, creating the content and determining when it should be posted. They’ve also bought ads on the platform.

Upon commencement of our contract with Fishbat, we worked with 2 to 3 of their employees on a weekly basis. After the first year, we've realized our goal for the percentage of the property we wanted to be leased. In less than 12 months, we were 100% occupied, so we scaled back the big push. While creating wait lists for our residential units we still wanted to create a buzz; however, we were not going full-throttle because of the number of people requesting units but unable to lease due to availability. 

We currently have a one person from Fishbat who we deal with on a regular basis. We meet monthly and have phone calls every 2 weeks.

Fishbat was hired prior to my arrival at the company, but I believe that they were referred to us. The owner of our company met with them, listened to their pitch, and took it from there.

The initial cost of services was $4,000 per month, but we have since dialed it back after the first year. Our current annual spend is now $30,000 - $35,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Fishbat in June 2016, and the project is ongoing. We’re planning to continue the relationship.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

We receive monthly reporting, so we do have metrics for what we’ve called impressions and engagement, including Facebook likes and overall traffic. We’ve broken down searches into paid and organic clicks. Fishbat has detailed who is visiting our pages and for how long, what devices they’re using, as well as what areas we could improve. If people are not clicking through, we can determine what has been working and what hasn’t. We can use these metrics to set the direction we want to take.

We definitely feel that Fishbat has assisted in directing traffic to us. I can’t quantify a number, as we’ve done many different types of advertising and marketing. We’ve cut everything back since then; even though we’re continuing to use Fishbat, we’re not present in print media.

How did Fishbat Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re well-organized and give constant updates through the project manager who is assigned to our account. They’re always looking for feedback and stay on top of our requirements, whether it’s a deadline or an answer. Fishbat molded to the direction we wanted to take. We've never had any budget or timeline issues. 

What did you find most impressive about Fishbat Media?

They offer a number of ideas and suggestions. Fishbat has been leading us down the right path, and we trust their judgment. We’re happy with them, and I feel that the overall management and direction have been positive.

Are there any areas Fishbat Media could improve?

There’s room for improvement with anyone. I know that coming up with new content can be difficult, especially for a niche area, but Fishbat could improve on this slightly. We are focusing on a unique audience for our apartment complex, which is a limitation. Fishbat Media has been doing a good job, but they could expand.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Fishbat Media?

I wasn’t here while hiring them, but I would make sure that, for any service being contracted, a large pool of candidates is available to vet.

Our company is a leading provider of portable, prefabricated custom modular buildings, mobile office trailers, ground-level storage and office containers, and storage trailers on wheels for rent or for sale. We started in 1976. I am the Manager of HR and Safety.

We needed to launch a brand new website that would be a better sales and information tool. We had an existing website but were only getting a couple leads per day through it. Also, our website wasn't easy to use or attractive like it is currently.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We let them take over our full online strategy.

fishbat made a full custom website. We just launched the new site in June. fishbat provides a monthly digital marketing report which includes our website analytics and traffic figures. For the SEO work, they optimize via Google and do PPC management on Google Adwords.

They also provide overall social media marketing. We use Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn among others for social media purposes. They give us daily Facebook monitoring, competitor research, and content and video posting. They look at what other companies are doing and adjust our strategies accordingly. They have come to our factories to make videos about our products for marketing purposes.

They were recommended by a local radio station. Our president decided to use them for a new website and associated marketing campaign.

We paid $18,000 as a start up for a new website. Our monthly charges are about $6,500 for the other marketing work.

We used to get 2­–3 leads per day. Through our new website, we get much more leads per day, 15–20 new customers per day. Most of our customers call or come to the office. Many clients come to the office and book products.

We also have received some feedback verbally from customers and through our website comment form. It is overwhelmingly strong design and usability feedback.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Fishbat worked on SEO, social media campaigns, and a couple of other efforts. They’ve managed our presence on LinkedIn and Facebook and connected with 100 different people in our target market, specifically insurance brokers, in order to generate leads.

Fishbat also wrote several SEO articles in collaboration with us, which are meant to increase our rankings for specific search terms, boost website leads, and improve our inbound marketing efforts. They manage our advertisements on Google AdWords; we left the list of targeted keywords up to them. They also handle our newsletter campaign.

About a year ago, they also made some handout marketing collateral, which definitely helped our business. This wasn’t a part of our ongoing services, though. They’ve stepped up in several capacities for different marketing efforts, whenever we needed to put something together for an event or opportunity, but their strengths are SEO and social media.

The collaboration has been an incremental effort. We have monthly calls to stay on top of the work. We started with the simple but large goals of improving our digital presence and increasing the number of inbound leads and opportunities. Every month, Fishbat has offered new ideas about where we should focus, what types of firms we should target, and where ad spending is most effective. Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

We’ve gone from having 1–2 web leads per month to around 25, and we’ve moved from having a minimal social media presence to thousands of connections with our leadership.

Our monthly newsletter went from only reaching our clients to an audience of over 2,000. We are performing above average with clicks and opens for that campaign. With AdWords, we’re seeing above-average performance, with 2%–2.5% return.

We’ve been able to transform ourselves from a fairly traditional company with an old-fashioned website and minimal web presence to an innovator that’s being talked about on the web and within networking groups like the National Association of Health Underwriters. We have visibility within different areas, which is nice.

We’ve gotten good traction through SEO, LinkedIn, and our newsletter. We’ve had challenges, but Fishbat always collaborates with us and remains open in their communication strategies, instead of trying to force us into a particular route. They’re the experts, so we really appreciate their insight.

We communicate regularly through email and have bi-weekly calls. Most of our projects are based on monthly deliverables, so at the end of each month, we review past performance and make content plans for distribution. Generally, the work is on time and fairly organized.

They’re good at their core competency and transparent about their abilities. Fishbat is really customer-service oriented, placing a lot of emphasis on our relationship and making sure that things are going smoothly. They’re also affordable, which means their services are usable by a smaller or mid-sized company.

Fishbat should get better writers, as the copywriting could definitely be improved. This has been a challenge for us because we have many industry-specific communications being published.

We’re a manufacturer of large format outdoor graphics. Our primary business is vehicle wraps. We service all across the nation. When requested, we do supply graphics to Canada, but it’s not our primary focal point. I'm one of the owners of the company.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Even though we don't have any hard numbers on return on investment, we still feel the value of today's day and age: you need to be high on the SEO market, putting out PR, and posting and communicating through social media. To us, that's our value, and I have a sense that it's working and can attribute some of the sales to them, which is the bottom line. If we didn't feel it was worth it to us, we certainly wouldn't be continuing their services.

We have definitely generated leads and converted the leads to sales. Through the awareness we've had from our PR and blogs, where it would be tough before to get into larger companies, we have now easy access because they can see that we're legit. Sometimes, the larger companies want to deal with a certain sized company. By seeing our PR, SEO, and brand awareness out there, they realize we’re one of the forerunners in our industry.

They’re very responsive. They also offer suggestions, with services being tweaked as time goes on.

What did you find most impressive about Fishbat?

They're top-notch people. They execute properly and take really good care of their customers. Again, we take care of our own customers as a company. How we handle our customers is how we like to be handled, and they handle us in a professional, well-mannered turnaround.

I haven't really thought about that, because they're the experts. For me to really give them some sort of improvement, I don't have anything. To me, they do everything fairly well.
