I'm the director of public relations for Assisi Animal Health, and I handle interior and exterior communications. Assisi Animal Health offers a targeted pulsed electromagnetic field device for controlling pain and inflammation in all animals. It's an FDA-cleared human device, and we're in 5 sets of clinical studies about the product itself.

What challenge were you trying to address with fishbat Media?

We wanted to gain recognition for our firm and growing product line. We focus on different areas like canines, felines, and equines. We've also done some work with exotics like tortoises and lion cubs.

fishbat advances the awareness of our product. We believe we’re developing a circle of care that starts with the veterinarian and the pet owner and ends with our product. fishbat acts as the head of that awareness campaign.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They designed our website, assisianimalhealth.com, and do a lot of SEO. They’re focused on social media and are very good at it. They’re not our public relations firm.

What is the status of this engagement?

We have been working together since we decided to move from human to animal medicine in January 2014. We’re still a team, and we have weekly formal follow-ups.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

fishbat is successful in the areas we’re targeting. When we track analytics, we’re looking for how many people are reading about us and converting to a sale or action. We’re seeing strong sales metrics in line with our growth.

Often, we’re in the top 3—even number 1—for hundreds of categories of SEO words. That's due to their guidance in showing us what to emphasize in searches.

Certainly, we have measured ROI from this work. We have a finance team—which has nothing to do with fishbat—that tracks the results of the work we're doing. We know where sales come from. We go to conferences. We’re avid writers. But, when it comes to SEO and web, we know the results are driven by fishbat’s work.

How did fishbat Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They're a small, highly organized team with strong creative skills. We look to them for ideas. Of course, we don't always agree, but they're not driven by what we ask for. They’re driven by what works.

We work several weeks in advance, so in our weekly meetings, we’re updating and advancing what's coming next. For example, this week we're talking about what we're expecting in the middle of July—everything from Facebook advertising to blogging and posting.

They’re quite inventive. They don't just do what we ask; they share ideas of what should happen.

Sometimes, when they're explaining analytics, they could probably whittle their descriptions down to make them understandable.

Come organized and prepare questions in advance. The client needs to explain their goals, but getting there is fishbat’s job.

We’re a corporate relations department for the New York region of an insurance agency. We handle all the media inquiries for anything external. We also handle all internal communications from the New York region. We do newsletters, press releases, social media, and video. I’m the communications consultant. Our sales leaders need to meet a quota of a number of agents they need to hire each year. We wanted to make it easy for them to do so by providing materials for them to do it via social media.

What was the scope of their involvement?

fishbat helped us create a LinkedIn video. The video was about how to recruit via LinkedIn. We used the video as a tool for our field sales leaders so they could post to their LinkedIn different recruiting things. We worked with fishbat on a script and then they provided us with the voiceover and created all of the graphics. They got our approval through the whole process, which kept us involved for the whole project.

They are local to us. When we saw their work, we were impressed.

We started with them in April 2015, and the project was completed in August 2015.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We were very satisfied with the product. A lot of our sales leaders didn’t have any LinkedIn experience, so this was a great foundation for them to have going into recruiting via LinkedIn. The video was extremely professional. All of our leaders in New York were very happy with it. There are 30 sales leaders in New York which are the bosses of the agency. They have to recruit new agents. It helped to increase all of the sales leaders’ presence and help them make new connections, which is the first step in recruiting via LinkedIn.

It was great to be involved in the whole process. fishbat went above and beyond with the creativity element. We’re a creative team, and fishbat took time to understand us and personalize what we were doing.

No. Everything went really well.

Providing a good profile of your company can be really helpful for them. They individualize every project they do. Getting a better feel for who you are as a company and brand is huge.

What challenge were you trying to address with Fishbat?

My company doesn’t provide SEO or Google AdWords work, so we’ve used Fishbat in the past to run those sectors for us. We bring them on board whenever a client has SEO or PPC needs that we can’t handle.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They have done web design and development for us. I’ve set up e-commerce platforms on Magento with them for clients, which has always been successful. They’re very organized and good at doing large-scale e-commerce buildouts. So far, we’ve done the projects as white label. If we need them to speak to the clients, they can do that. We’ve also worked with non-white label before. It depends on the project.

How did you come to work with Fishbat?

Three or four years ago, one of my clients was looking for web design and e-commerce design that we couldn’t provide because the project was too big. We researched all the top firms and options that we had for launching an e-commerce website. We had five or six firms picked out, but Fishbat stood out because of their price and organization. They understood the scope of work needed. I’ve stayed with them through the years. They’re my favorite firm if a client has those needs.

How much have you invested with Fishbat?

The price for the e-commerce site was between $20,000 and $30,000. This was a large-scale e-commerce project with 1,000 products. For SEO, the cost is $5,000 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in 2014. The last major project we closed out with them was a year and a half or two years ago.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

When you bring someone on as a partner, they’re a representation of your company as well. The great thing about Fishbat is they’re always super responsive. My clients have always loved them. I feel like they understand clients’ needs when they’re first given a project. They’re able to quickly figure out the best way to handle them. They’re definitely my top source for what they specialize in. They’re good at providing insight into analytics. We can see a clear indication of who was targeted and how many people were transferred to the website through their campaign. There’s definitely a measurable return and you can see especially when they’re working on it.

How did Fishbat perform from a project management standpoint?

Their responsiveness is huge for me. I have my own agency and it’s great to have someone I can contact quickly. They put together proposals really fast for me that’s really solid.

They’re really friendly and approachable. They make great partners.

Are there any areas Fishbat could improve?

No. I’ve always been really happy working with them. I think other companies of similar size take longer to respond than Fishbat.

I try to give my clients realistic expectations of what to expect. Often my clients will say they want an SEO company that will give results in a month. I tell them SEO results may not show in a month; there’s an organic process that has to happen. Fishbat does a good job of informing clients what’s possible and not possible, what’s best practice, what’s not, and why.

We are a 90-year-old organization with over a hundred specialty retail stores in the optical space. Our primary market is the New York area. I’m the CMO.

What challenge were you trying to address with Fishbat?

Our goal with social media was to be able to present brands and product in an easier way for our consumer to interact with. We're a franchise organization. Each store buys their own brand array, which makes it very difficult for us to showcase products in other mechanisms. Social is the perfect opportunity for that, so that was a big goal with hiring Fishbat.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We're working with them in the social space. They are doing social SEO, assisting us with development on our blog, backlinks, and keywords, and amplifying those messages. We are driving to customers to our retail stores which frankly has been working. We do not have e-commerce at this time.

How did you come to work with Fishbat?

I have been at my company in my current role for three years and hired all new agencies within a two-year span. I did a tremendous amount of research to find the right agency and fit for us as a company. I did a lot of research, referrals, and comparisons and spoke to a lot of different people. They were recommended to me as a good source. We had worked with large agencies in New York that were not a good fit for us. That process plus having them come in over a lengthy period of time, which is unfortunate, but does definitely help confirm that the relationship is there. That was my non-scientific process.

How much have you invested with Fishbat?

It’s been less than $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with them in January 2017. I did a three-month trial. Honestly, I had had a problem with my previous agency, so that’s why I prefer to do trials, especially when it comes to social media. We're in the midst now of finalizing our 12-month contract with them.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I’ve seen positive results. The biggest growth so far is in the Instagram space. And for us, that was a rough go of it. That's a brand-new channel for us, but we have greatly increased our expansion and engagement through that channel. I'm very satisfied honestly. I consider them, within this short period of time, an extension of us and of my internal team.

How did Fishbat perform from a project management standpoint?

Given that we're a New York City company and have worked with very large NYC-based agencies, their small nature and one-on-one customer service relationship have been a huge benefit to us. I don't think I'll ever go back to a big agency again.

What did you find most impressive about Fishbat?

We do very well with agencies that stay a little bit under the radar. What you find a lot with social agencies is they become very much about the brand, and the person becoming the brand. That is the kiss of death. I know it's the way of the world, but if you don't have somebody managing your business, your business will fall apart. And I've seen it happen twice already. Fishbat stays just a hair underneath the radar, which I think is a huge benefit to them.

Not yet. It's too early to tell.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Fishbat?

I find that with all of the agencies that I work with—this is a completely different experience for me, as I was on the agency side—the more you tell them upfront about what you want and what your business is, the better your results will be. Everybody has to be in the sandbox together. Everybody has to understand what the business goals are. Everybody has to understand the marketplace and be on the same page. And I have found the more I tell the agencies and keep everybody together in the same loop, the better it is for everybody. Everybody performs higher.
