I’m the founder of Mintd, a B2C wealth technology company that creates and manages curated portfolios for investors.

What challenge were you trying to address with EVOQINS?

I had an idea for a product and some low-fidelity wireframes, but I needed a technical team to bring that product to life.

What was the scope of their involvement?

EVOQINS designed and developed a web-based product's front- and backend, including the UX/UI. They created high-fidelity wireframes and converted them into Figma files. They also integrated the product with the API provider; they led that partnership from the technical side.

Users could take a psychological and financial questionnaire on the web application. Based on the results, our algorithm assigned them a risk score and matched them to a curated portfolio of mutual funds. Then, the user could proceed with the Know Your Customer (KYC), onboarding, and account opening activities. They could transfer money online to invest in mutual funds via our web app. Then, they could view their consolidated portfolio and returns and make changes anytime from our platform.

I dealt with between 4–5 teammates at any given time. EVOQINS had a project lead who was either the COO or CMO.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

From a functionality and design perspective, EVOQINS delivered everything we asked for. I was very happy working with them and would highly recommend them. The feedback from customers was very positive. 

My company was an early-stage startup, and we managed to deliver a product as good as any institutionally funded product, so I have good things to say about EVOQINS.

EVOQINS respected the project deadlines and budget.

What did you find most impressive about them?

EVOQINS had worked on many fintech products, so they knew what they were doing. Fintech is a very regulated industry, so our product had to follow many rules. EVOQINS was on top of compliance at all times.

They were also very flexible, which was important for us as an early-stage startup. They were understanding of our needs and easy to work with. They were transparent and never over-billed me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We occasionally wanted to deal directly with the engineers, but the project lead was a good mediator, so this wasn’t really an issue.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Be very clear about what you want. This was my first time working with a development company, and if I could go back, I’d be more detailed.

We closely track project plan and have a weekly progress review meeting to ensure that project is on track and deliverables are on track as well.

Yes, delivered on time most of time. In cases there were delays, they updated us before hand the reason for delays. Delays were mostly due to some new surprises during testing as its common in tech projects. Wherever the change in design or requirements changed, they do an assessment of the changes from design, development and testing perspective, share the estimates and timelines and proceed only after we approve it. Project plan along with line items are tracked in Notion tool.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

1. They don't work like vendors but like partners. They have shown equal interest like us in developing our product, equally passionate about what we are building and they talk in terms of *we* than *you*. This is very important aspect in any engagement as it gives comfort and we know that we can rely on them.
2. They are very flexible to work with. They understand that change is constant. They accommodate changes effortlessly.
3. They have been in fintech/wealthtech field for quite sometime. So this came in very handy for us as they already knew what all the features and usecases we would need to build for. This fast tracked our app development. And we learnt bunch of new things in the process that we didn't know.
4. Their philosophy in life aligns with ours : Be good, Do Good. Rest will fall in place.

Are there any areas for improvement or something EVOQINS could have done differently?

Deliverables quality could be better. Feedback has been already given to them and they have improved the QA process. It's much better now. It's work in progress.

Key deliverables of development and design were met satisfactorily. User feedback has been very positive. There have been some minor bugs, and they were remedied.

We have weekly updates. When necessary, we can call them outside of those assigned meetings. Everything has been taken care of from a project management perspective.

I’m the technical head of an IT company and I manage all the technical matters related to our app.

We needed someone to develop our app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed our app based on our requirements and initial discussion about the features we wanted. They then came back to us with wireframes. After we provided our feedback, they moved to the development stage. 

Their first milestone has been completed in January 2021. By May 2021, all of their deliverables have been completed. Right now, we're doing some enhancements and feature changes after releasing our iOS and Android app.

Our customer-facing and vendor app is a cross-platform for a grocery business in Kerala, India, and there are many web and mobile apps associated with it. They’ve also helped us with our website by providing the API we needed. However, they didn’t spearhead the development of our platform because they’re busy with other projects.

I’m mainly in touch with three team leads, but we’re also collaborating with their head of training team and head of mobile app development.

We were working with a few other companies before, but we faced some timing constraints. We wanted to finish the first phase by the end of January. However, by October, I could tell that we had a tight schedule, so we decided to partner with Evoque Innovative Lab.

The team was referred by one of our directors. They weren’t also like other potential providers we contacted who only asked for more money or we weren’t really familiar with.

We started working together in late September 2020, and our collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our third-party customers like the app, and we also like it. The app is available in many countries because some of our end-users reside outside of India, and they want to order for their parents. With Evoque Innovative Lab’s work, we can then deliver our clients’ orders to their family’s home.

How didEvoque Innovative Lab perform from a project management standpoint?

I usually talk directly with them over phone calls. We’re very happy with their on-time delivery and support. We’ve also asked them multiple times to apply small changes and they’ve been able to do it for us even if they’re busy with other work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re very happy with our app’s UX and the team’s post-launch support. The previous company we’ve worked with didn’t give us proper support, and that’s the reason why we’ve made a second version of the app with Evoque Innovative Lab.
