Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

The agency implemented Snowflake as a new data warehouse solution, which was to replace the existing data warehouse, built with Data Vault 2.0 Methodology.  After a less-than-successful engagement with another vendor, EA was contracted to assess the current state of the implementation of tools related to the data warehouse, to train and mentor the existing BI team and new BI director, to build an initial enterprise data model, to extend and enable development of the data model for new use cases, and to help the agency develop a data governance program. EA provided staff who are embedded in the BI team and who meet regularly with project sponsors.  Deliverables are specific to each epic.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Outcomes varied across different portions of the project - for example, for the Workday transition, the outcome was a data model that combined data from the old system (UKG) and Workday to seamlessly support a Staff Turnover Dashboard; for the data governance portion of the project, the outcome was regular meetings of the data governance council that produced actionable decisions that were needed to drive development of the enterprise data model.

EA has been incredibly responsive and proactive in all the projects we have pursued together.  They deliver work in a timely manner and are quick to report barriers to progress.

From the start of our initial engagement with EA, we have been aligned on mission and values.  In the BI world, the agency has a small team who are trying to accomplish big goals related to using data effectively to help those we serve live successfully.  EA is committed to the mission and supports us in every way possible to make it a reality.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Evolution Analytics, LLC could have done differently?

Their team has always sought and been responsive to any feedback we have - we greatly appreciate that about them.

EA delivered an analysis of the 3 different solutions that needed updated reporting and analytics. They proposed and then delivered on an architecture that would support a datawarehouse from 3 different schema across 2 different DB platforms into a common warehouse with common reporting capabilities.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Existing repoirts for 3 of 4 applications were successfully converted to new solution.

Data could be migrated successfully from the 3 databases.

Installation and data mapping documents were provided, reviewed and approved.

Items were managed on time, we had regular standups to review progress - blockers were called out immediately, and escalations for information needed to progress the project accurred as needed to stay on track.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

EA is very well geared towards SMB, they adapt to support both budget and project needs and deliverables. Cost is well in line for the space, and their vast expertise in reporting and analytic solutions allowed us to evaluate plans for not only the short term deliverables as well as our long term strategy.
