We are a User Experience design and development agency. We focus on making custom digital experiences for our clients and their customers.

For what projects/services did your company hire Epic Culture?

Training hard skills have always come easy as there are classes, tutorials, boot camps, and well-established best practices in our industry. The key to making a team efficient also relies heavily on having a positive culture, master soft skills, growing leadership capabilities, and even understanding your own strengths and weaknesses.

What were your goals for this engagement?

Epic Culture has provided multiple ways to help educate our team on the personality and how it impacts their team, and developing a leadership mentality regardless of your title.

How did you select this vendor?

We became familiar with Epic Culture through recommendations in Entrepreneurs Organization. Since they had a track record of performance from trusted colleagues we felt comfortable hiring them and following their lead.

Describe the engagement in detail.

Epic Culture provided workshops on topics related to Personality and Leadership skills. Additionally, Epic Culture provides ongoing Personality DNA assessments for new hires to determine where they will fit in our culture.

What was the team composition?

We worked with 3 members of their team, but primarily Josh Sweeney and his workshop moderators.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

Overall our team enjoyed the events and helped re-frame their point of view on several key aspects of their careers and interpersonal relationships. Since most of what they provided were advancements to soft skills, ROI is hard to measure, but we definitely feel we value the money spent with them.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Epic was expedient and very flexible in timing to meet our team regardless of location and timing.

What did you find most impressive about this vendor?

They have a unique commitment and approach to improving company culture. They have several touchpoints and workshops to select from. Having an outside party come and speak to your team makes a much greater impact than anything managed internally.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Difficult to say. I believe they executed very well on what we asked for, but perhaps the opportunity is that I don't know what I don't know. If Epic Culture better communicated a process or path, then it might open more revenue opportunities for them.

I'm the president of Rocketwise, an IT services provider of cloud-based IT and unified communications solutions.

What challenge were you trying to address with Epic Culture?

As our company grows, internal culture continues to become more important to us, so we reached out to Epic Culture to help us structure our onboarding process for new employees. We wanted to vet candidates to ensure that they were not only a good fit for our company and culture, but also enjoyed working on our team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Epic Culture provides a variety of HR services for onboarding new employees, including team analysis, personality assessments, team reports, work motivation reports, etc. In addition to analyzing our team's strengths and any gaps that need to be filled, they also complete individual employee profiles. 

What is the team composition? 

We work directly with one person on their team.

How did you come to work with Epic Culture?

We reached out to them shortly after someone on their team gave an impressive presentation at a meeting for the Entrepreneurs's Organization in Atlanta. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working with them since around August 2018, and they continue to support us for every new hire we have.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Epic Culture provides a lot of value overall. They've taken the time to get to know our team, and helped bring our employees closer together. Their work has definitely had a positive effect across the board. 

How did Epic Culture perform from a project management standpoint?

They're very responsive and easy to get ahold of by phone, email, or video chat. They're always willing to answer any questions we have or provide context to some of the data they've collected.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They take a big-picture approach, understanding that our team as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts. They lend a lot of real-world experience that's helped us significantly improve our levels of teamwork.

I can't think of anything.

Please describe your company and your position there.

AssureSign is a recognized leader in the digital/electronic signature, automated workflow, and document management space. I founded the company in 2007 and have served as its president and CEO since 2010.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Epic Culture?

We've struggled with quickly hiring a sales team that performs at or above their resume, filtering through tens if not hundreds of applicants or more for each posting. Filtering through the volume of data was wearing our sales leadership thin. We brought EPIC Culture in to help us streamline our applicant filter so we were looking at only those candidates who matched our proven DNA.

What were your goals for this engagement?

To create a candidate application process that allowed the applicant to showcase their unique talents while comparing them with the DNA Behavior profile we already established. Our goal was to reduce the number of resumes we focused on to 20% of the total received. This allowed us to dive deeper on fewer candidates to find just the right one.

SOLUTION

Describe the engagement in detail.

EPIC Culture helped us to understand who in the organization was performing well and why. Correlating those results with other possible team members helped us to filter before we got to the internal vetting stage. Having DNA Behavior as part of the initial engagement was most efficient and lessened the work required to filter out those who didn't fit by a great degree. 

We have used DISC, Meyers Briggs, and Birkman to help us understand the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate. EPIC Culture did more than just providing numbers based on standardized tests, though. They allowed us to model future team members after those who already had the talent to be successful. This was a game-changer for us.

We worked with our own HR and sales leadership to facilitate.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

After we offered/hired a new team member, EPIC was there to help us customize our training curriculum to focus on how the team learns and organize the content around new hire training. What resulted was the smoothest process we'd ever experienced with higher retention in sales hiring.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow suggested by EPIC Culture was significantly better and more integrated with the applicant process.

What did you find most impressive about this vendor?

EPIC Culture are experts in their field, helping us with not only facts and process but also with integrating with our current process. What resulted was a process we have continued to follow.

None that I can think of.

I’m the founder of fullOpp, a Salesforce consulting firm.

What challenge were you trying to address with Epic Culture? 

We were looking to be able to do behavior assessments on our team members and future hires. Epic Culture is helping us by doing those assessments and also providing us their feedback on the results. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Epic Culture uses their own proprietary assessments that they conduct. We deploy these online assessments whenever we want to assess a current team member, a new team member, or a potential hire. We ask Epic Culture to conduct the assessment and they reach out directly to the person. 

Once the assessment is complete, they provide us the results as well as an analysis of how the person fits within our team. They help us understand whether the person is a good cultural fit for the organization as a whole or for the particular department. 

What is the team composition? 

We work with two members of their team.

How did you come to work with Epic Culture? 

We met them at a local conference in Atlanta. We liked their presentation, and we heard some good reviews from others. After a couple of conversations with them, we decided to move forward. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $1,200. 

What is the status of this engagement? 

Work began in March 2019 and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve hired two people since we started using them, and they've been very successful hires. Epic Culture’s attention to detail, and the effort that they put into helping us understand the results, is really good. They also make sure that they're asking the right questions to help us best use the information from these assessments. 

How did Epic Culture perform from a project management standpoint? 

They offer a monthly virtual meeting to discuss any hiring strategies and what types of hires we’re looking for. Epic Culture helps us plan for what kinds of team members we should be looking for in terms of personality, depending on the particular role or responsibility. For example, they tell us that certain personality types would work really well for sales roles. Then consider the dynamics of our current team as well. They're quite thorough and always make themselves available to help us break all of that down. 

What did you find most impressive about them? 

Nothing comes to mind. Overall, it’s been a very positive experience. 

Are there any areas they could improve? 

No, no not at all. I struggle to think of any criticism.

I’m the CEO of RentScale, a company that helps residential property managers systematize and grow their sales. As part of that, we help them hire, train, and manage top-performing salespeople. We also provide ongoing tracking of the sales representative outcomes to adjust the hiring process.

Epic Culture assesses prospective RentScale sales representatives and managers to identify if they are a good fit for the role.

What were your goals for this engagement?

Our goal was to make better recruiting decisions and create coaching plans for new team members.

How did you select this vendor?

They had a unique philosophy as well as tools and insights that we had never seen before.

Each time we build a new sales team, Epic Culture runs assessments on the potential candidates and their managers to help understand strengths and better predict successful recruitment. They also offer consulting services and support for their on-demand products.

What was the team composition?

We have a dedicated account manager who we work with over email.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

In the first six months that we've worked with Epic Culture, we've built about 10 successful sales teams ranging in size from 1–3 representatives.

We are extremely satisfied with the workflow.

Epic Culture advertised the position, sifted through the resumes and gave personality tests to the candidates before conducting final interviews with them. Ultimately saving us a lot of time recruiting ourselves.

We worked directly with both Josh and Crystal on this project.

We hired a project manager who seems to be working out just fine.

Communication was key.

It was a collaborative effort, and they really acted as if they were my very own in-house recruiting staff. I will be using them again.
