BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I run the website of Lutheran Church in the San Juans. This is a volunteer gig. Basically I update news and information, post the pastor's sermons, and upload a weekly bulletin for Zoom worshippers.

For what projects/services did your company hire Envision Web Creation?

The church website had not been updated in more than five years, maybe longer. I'd designed the previous one, using an online web service. The site needed to be revised to be more user-friendly, more visitor-friendly, and more informative for random visitors.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I knew of the designers through connections. They presented a well-developed proposal that included a timetable and what would be included in the cost.

I was impressed that the designers began not just by interviewing me about the site and its needs, but by researching comparable websites. They looked at other websites in the area, not only church-related ones, but other types of businesses, including nonprofits. In other words, they did their homework. Along the way the offered opportunities for church members (and not just me) to give input so that the design would reflect people's needs. They were very responsive to hearing what people had to say. Frequently I was the middle-person, the mediator, between the church and the designers, interpreting why some things would work (for this group) and why they wouldn't. It was a very collaborative process.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Envision Web Creation is a small company. I worked primarily with the designer, rather than the IT person behind the scenes.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The new design has allowed site visitors, and not just members, to access information, like the weekly bulletin. It is a device-responsive design, so that tourists to the San Juan Islands can easily look it up on their smartphones. We have had random visitors to church as a result—at least that is my opinion!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was very effective—professional and yet easy-going.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I found the patience in working with nonprofessional web managers, such as myself, to be very impressive and unusual. Envision went out of its way to design, and make changes, so that I could update and manage the website on my own. And when I ran into difficulty, they were there to help out.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Envision did an excellent job of *listening* to what we were looking for and responding in kind. They didn't try to force anything on us that we didn't want. I really appreciate this!
