Based on the technical specification, the project was split into phases. Each phase was handed over on the basis of a act after testing. Upon completion of the key phases, instructions for use were provided by Engine. Therefore, we could always turn to the contact person for technical support in case of questions.

In addition to being provided with instructions, the manager also showed us in detail how to work with the platform. The contact person always responded to emails, calls or messages. Every phase was delivered on time, some even earlier. In case of changes, they were made in a timely manner and did not delay the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Sometimes I personally, as the owner of this project, had the impression that it was our common project. Everyone in Engine was interested in its realisation and start-up. This makes the project run with clear understanding on both sides of what is needed. Everyone is doing their own thing, and from Engine s side the technical part is done at the highest level. And I have something to compare it with.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Engine could have done differently?

I have nothing to add. I have only positive and complimentary feedback about working with Engine, including from my colleagues and my clients.

I’m the head of IT for a global transportation company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Engine?

We hired Engine to help us with SQL services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started by meeting with Engine to outline our requirements and create a plan of action. Then, they provided us with strategic support services, which included making updates and creating backups for SQL. Now that the team has finished the project, they continue to provide maintenance services on an as-needed basis.

What is the team composition?

We work with a project coordinator, a technical lead, and a support team member. 

How did you come to work with Engine? 

I found Engine through a referral from another company. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested about €2,000 (approximately $2,000 USD) in the partnership with Engine. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Engine in May 2021, and the partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve been very pleased with the partnership. Engine did a fantastic job carrying out the primary project; they provided high-quality services and fulfilled all our requests.

How did Engine perform from a project management standpoint?

The Engine team has met deadlines and worked within our budget. They’ve worked remotely, and we’ve communicated via phone, email, and Microsoft Teams.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve been most impressed with their attention to detail. During the preparation stage, they were very thorough and meticulous, which enabled them to deliver incredible results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have nothing Engine could improve on.

I’m the head of R&D at a transportation and telecommunications company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Engine?

We received a request to develop IT systems from one of our industrial partners in the aviation space. We have strong IT expertise but needed additional architecture support to develop special modules, so we reached out to Engine.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The Engine team helped us develop a custom aviation system for one of our customers. They conducted research to determine which technologies to use for the development process. Then, we purchased the necessary technologies and worked together to build the system. 

Engine has completed the project but continues to support us with additional development needs when they come up.

How did you come to work with Engine?

Our company had worked with Engine on a previous project where they provided us with training services. Our colleagues were happy with their services and recommended Engine for the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Engine from January 2018– January 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve been very satisfied with the quality of work Engine has done for us, and we’re happy with the final product. 

How did Engine perform from a project management standpoint?

The Engine team carried out tasks efficiently and communicated openly. They were very responsive throughout the development process and executed a high-quality approach to the project. 

They consistently met deadlines, but they didn’t just complete the tasks; they took the time to ensure the quality and safety of the final product. We typically met in person and communicated via email, phone, and video calls. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Engine’s quality of work impressed us the most. They identified solutions to very complex cross-functional technical issues. The team considered everything and provided valuable expertise across all aspects of the project, including technical experience, UX, legislation, and licensing. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have nothing Engine could improve on.

If you want to develop an outstanding R&D tool, contact Engine because they’re very well-versed in research processes. They won’t just build code; instead, they’ll outline a piece-by-piece, research-based solution that will benefit your company. 

Also, don’t hesitate to contact them if you have questions about development, aviation, or other project aspects because they are experts.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

 How did your relationship with your partner evolve?
The relationship started positively during the initial phase of the project. However, as the project progressed and became more complex, recurring issues began to surface. Over time, concerns related to project governance, code quality, transparency, and adherence to agreed terms accumulated.

In what ways can they improve?
Deadlines were frequently missed, tasks were implemented without sufficient consideration for scalability or long-term maintainability, and we did not receive meaningful product-level recommendations. During the project, we also indicated that external developers were involved despite explicit contractual restrictions. This raised concerns regarding transparency and compliance with agreed terms.

We additionally encountered issues related to code quality, infrastructure maintenance, and overall project governance.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?
Overall, based on our experience, Engine did not meet our expectations as a long-term technology partner and we can not recommend them anymore.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We used to work with the team in their previous projects

Team collected requirements and user stories, we developed wireframes together then team did designs and further implementation (programming) of the application and delivery to Staging environment. The development was native iOS. We also used Vasco SDK to implement secure 2FA and mobile digipass (authentication tools).

4 persons — project manager, designer, developer and QA.

The team managed to deliver the solution that went into production and is still being used by the bank. The iOS applucation supports both ipad and iphones.

The guys were always trying to do an extra step and willing to understand the core meaning of all features and changes

At the latter stages of the project that involve complex expertise with encryption related to Digipass secure operations we had to seek for additional competences.
