The project scope covered designing and building an AI-powered assistant for a chartered accounting firm using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, and Microsoft Copilot Studio. The work began with a stakeholder workshop to identify and prioritize the highest-value use case, define acceptance criteria, and document the ideal agent behavior as a benchmark for development.

Core development included creating and configuring the Foundry Agent with GPT-4.1, engineering a domain-specific system prompt with guardrails against hallucinated financial data, and setting up content safety filters for PII and sensitive financial information. Knowledge bases were built around the firm's policies, regulatory standards, and client templates, with OneDrive and SharePoint connected as indexed data sources. Retrieval was tuned for semantic reranking, sub-query planning, and source citation accuracy, all aligned with document-level access control.

Use case development covered building prompt templates for priority business workflows, designing structured output formatting through Copilot Studio adaptive cards, and iterative refinement with real accounting scenarios. The engagement concluded with end-to-end functional testing, technical documentation, staff training, and a handover to the client's admin team.

The client's internal team is now self-sufficient, trained to manage users, update knowledge bases, and monitor the system without external support.
