The video concept was that the Timpson store exists inside the vending machine, seamlessly connecting the key-cutting process to when the key is ready for collection. Live-action footage will show a colleague cutting keys and fixing shoes within this ‘in-machine’ store. When the key is finished, they’ll break the fourth wall and place it directly into the vending machine, aligning perfectly with the moment it’s dispensed. We needed Eight Engines for production, lighting, and support with storyboarding. The final piece was a main video with modular sections highlighting the key-cutting journey.

Our client, a sustainable high-performance wood brand, was looking to increase awareness of its benefits amongst architects to drive demand for the product.
A critical element to an architect's role is ensuring that they design with the needs of communities in mind. This means they must not only collaborate with the supply chain, but with developers, councils, and the public to ensure they are not only designing buildings, but also creating spaces that are safe, sustainable and represent the communities that live there.
Having had in-depth discussions with the architects to understand what campaign would make an impact, we recommended a campaign centred upon ‘Genius Loci’. Roughly translating to ‘The Spirit of the Place’, ‘Genius Loci’ is a philosophical brand of architectural phenomenology referring to the preservation of heritage and culture.
The campaign put architects front and centre via a series of tactics including the development of a three-part video series discussing what the ‘Spirit of the Place’ means to architects.
We selected three architects who each led an episode of the series. Each architect chose a place that was important to them - so they could talk authentically about what the place means to them, how this has inspired their work today, and how they reflect culture and heritage in their designs.
Eight Engines was critcal to helping us develop the storylines that would resonate with our client's target audience and ultimately capture the 'Spirit of the Place'.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
At the beginning of the campaign, we agreed three objectives with the client and set key performance indicators to measure success for each. Eight Engines helped us meet or surpass all:

Achieved: 3 ongoing partnerships with architects and decision-makers at Bond Bryan, Morris + Company and Chapman Taylor
Target: Ongoing promotion of the content via third party channels (5+ posts/shares by architects/architectural firms)

Build brand awareness for Accoya amongst key target audiences via brand mentions in the right places. KPIs:

The club saw our video and asked the architect to feature in a video for themselves about the stadium and the club which is now live on the LinkedIn profile
We had positive feedback from the places represented in the series, who felt a particular emotional attachment to the videos and apprciated the way their city had been captured

Eight Engines was incredibly helpful throughout the project. The team was always on hand to support with questions and advise. For example, filming in cities was complicated due to laws on where you can and can't film. I was not familiar with these rules before the project so this was critical to understand how this could impact the end result. Knowing Eight Engines had done their due diligence gave me peace of mind and meant I knew I had a video team I could rely not only to deliever a successful project but also overcome any challenges.
Throughout the project, within my own agency, we were not only conscious of our own needs and what we wanted to achieve but also of the client and their expectations. It was important to have a reliable video partner who could help answer their questions too, and deliver to a timely schedule, particularly as there were lots of moving parts, not only within our own campaign but also client side. Eight Engines recognised this, helping in any way they could and adapting to our needs.

In addition feeling like we were in a safe pair of hands with the help and support Eight Engines provided throughout the project, on the filming days, it was great to see the team's passion and attention to detail.
Each team member played their role in understanding the brief and carefully capturing the perfect shot, selecting the right camera, or taking the time to ensure sound was clear. This continued in post production too, to ensure our client would be pleased!
Their team's work also put the architects at ease in what could be quite a daunting experience. This gave them the confidence to present on camera and collaborate with the crew to select locations that meant something to them - which was essential to achieving the brief. Each architect stated how much they enjoyed the filming days and how impressed they were by the videos.

No, they did a great job and they have helped us with even more projects since!
