I am the technical lead for a company that sells automotive products and other equipment. Our products are relatively hard to come by, so we don’t have much competition.

What challenge were you trying to address with Ecomsolver Pvt. Ltd.?

We had a lot of issues with our Magento site, especially with loading times. Our goal was to tailor our site’s navigation and processing systems because it wasn’t ready for what we needed. We had outsourced some of the work, but I wasn’t satisfied with our first three vendors.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, Ecomsolver Pvt. Ltd. did a lot of custom Magento work. They also did a lot of design and optimization on the platform so that it would run smoothly.

One of our major projects was custom filtered navigation that had to bypass the database and be server-side. Instead of having a drop-down menu with the make and model, the site had to filter out which options were available and which weren’t. There were a lot of possible combinations because customers could choose multiple features for each product.

We also asked them to build our catalog. While it was similar to a date entry project, it involved more than just entering stuff into the database because they had to do a lot of tweaking.

I found them on Freelancer and hired them to solve a smaller technical issue. Since they did a good job, we asked them to work on bigger projects.

We doubled our sales revenue the year we worked with Ecomsolver intensively. It was our second year, and we went from $800,000 to $1.6 million, which was neat. While that’s not entirely due to Ecomsolver’s work, they helped make sure we could sell our products.

How did Ecomsolver Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated via email and a project management system where all the tasks were mapped out. Ravindra would check them off as we went. They communicated clearly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their technical abilities were impressive. I could always depend on them when something needed to be done quickly. For example, when we first started working together, one of our websites was offline. Ravindra solved it immediately without worrying about getting paid.

Are there any areas they could improve?

During the two years we worked together, they changed designers 2–3 times. Although we didn’t need a lot of design work, it was quite bothersome. While it didn’t affect their final output, they were delayed a few times. However, I think they currently have a more stable team.

There are occasional delays in communciations, but despite the time difference from their location to ours, they've bent over backwards to be responsive to our needs. They'e also been very good at documenting and tracking their work thoroughly.
