UX Designers for the internal consulting arm in Nutrien’s IT department to design custom digital solutions for the enterprise. Digital design for applications within the Potash and Commercial departments, desktop and mobile devices. Deliverables: UX strategy, assessment and evaluation reports, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, usability and user testing reports.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Great quality of UX facilitation and ownership, knowledge of UX and Design System, great quality of UI design and artifacts produced as part of the UX Design process.

I’d say 98% of the time artifacts were delivered on time, and they did respond to my needs very effectively.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The quality of such niche talent and flexibility to adjust to our requirements and timing.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Dura Digital could have done differently?

Some of the pains we had at the end of last year and the beginning of this year were around admin stuff (billing/invoicing in particular), and all have been cleared. Additionally, we had turnover issues with a couple of new resources that hindered the relationship a little. The current consultants elevated their impact and it started showing more towards the second half of the year, which was great to see; though I know Dura is already working on improving their screening of talent to better identify candidates that suit our needs.

• User Persona mockup:
  1. Identify key user roles for interacting with our website based on staff interviews to establish needs of customers including pain points, desired outputs, etc.
•    Web portal mockup:
  1.     Provide mockups of multiple web portals (asset tracking, delivery scheduling, barcode generation) in both desktop and mobile formats to facilitate easier web development of concepts to functioning websites.
  2.    Review and refine workflow to improve existing concept work for better user experience and navigation.
•  Click-Through prototypes:
  1.    Generate interactive clickable prototypes to allow early feedback on workflows and UI elements to ensure website behavior meets expectations prior to full development.
•  Trade show print material:
  1.   Update existing trade show print assets including standing posters for the booth and sales cut sheets for multiple product lines.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

• Dura Digital provided clearly structured user personas to aid internal future development for features and UI interaction decisions on our web portals.
• Mockup web portals allowed our web developer to implement the required functionality with a clear and easily translatable design reference framework in Figma for both desktop and mobile views.
• Click-Through prototypes were shared with end users at the early stages of development to gather quick feedback and adjust workflow planning prior to full website development.
• Trade show material was delivered on time allowing us to ensure we had all material available for the upcoming show.

We met with Dura virtually on a weekly basis to review current and upcoming tasks. Items were delivered on schedule and Dura was great about informing us when our input was needed at stages and identifying where they may be blocked until we could provide information. Dura was extremely receptive to our feedback during designs and reviews, making changes or iterating on alternative designs where we felt adjustments in the concept were needed. They were also extremely accommodating when we requested additional last-minute changes and were able to provide additional concept work beyond the initially requested scope.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I felt that Dura Digital a did an incredible job of keeping on the target schedule while adapting to our feedback and changes. Pacing for communication felt appropriate while they also maintained great availability for feedback and changes outside of our standard schedule.

Overall, we feel extremely satisfied with the work performed by Dura Digital and intend to work with them again on future projects as additional work progresses.

Dura kicked off the project by conducting a thorough user needs assessement through insights gathering from key stakeholder groups.  Once insights were gathered, they created user stories/journeys, which informed product/platform features/benefits -- and from here, commenced with development.  Through the 8 month process, weekly scrum/update meetings were conducted.  All key deliverables were met on time and on budget and in scope.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The designer from Dura Digital worked alongside my team, so we frequently shared progress on a daily basis. I deemed the project successful because the designer was able to complete the work we needed to a high level of quality. She also fit really well with our team, which kept work moving. We’ve seen improved user satisfaction and faster workflows as a result of the project. We measured these results through usability testing and analytics.

How did Dura Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Everything was delivered on time. The designer was quick to get through anything assigned to her. We primarily communicated through virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps as well as coming in person once a week.
