## Portfolio & Awards

### First United: Orchestrating an Integrated Campaign
https://www.dn3austin.com/work/first-united-bank
Issue: With locations throughout Oklahoma and Texas – and an ambitious growth plan – First United Bank lacked a succinct and repeatable brand message that reflected its unmistakably unique mission and core values.
Answer: Door No. 3 developed an integrated campaign called “Spend Life Wisely,” celebrating the bank’s commitment to empowering its customers to pursue financial well-being, faith, personal growth, and good health.

### MALK Organics: Telling the Ingredient Story
https://www.dn3austin.com/work/malk
Issue: When choosing plant milk, shoppers almost never consult the ingredients panel to inform their decisions on which brand to buy. There’s a belief that they’re all essentially the same, and that they don’t really need to consider health as a factor because, after all, they’re already choosing plant milk over dairy, so they’re already making a smart choice and “good job, me.” This is of course untrue, and in fact there is a vast difference in what various products are made of, most of them containing a long list of shockingly bad ingredients.
Answer: Shoppers would certainly make better decisions if they would just look at the ingredients for themselves — something they don’t seem very willing to do. So we decided to do it for them. With this, #TurnItAround was born.

### Increasing Brand Lift by 32% in Just 6 Months
https://www.dn3austin.com/work/shipping-easy
Issue: There’s a problem with the marketing for most business shipping software: it’s all business. From yawn-worthy white papers to stodgy talking head videos, it’s as if they’re competing to see who can put the most people to sleep. ShippingEasy, a Stamps.com-owned company, wanted to be different. They wanted to show off their e-commerce offerings and their personality. Overshadowed by bigger SaaS offerings, they needed to differentiate and bolster brand affinity amongst an extremely niche audience. They also needed to increase the number of Plus, Select and Premium signups (vs. their Starter and Basic packages).
Answer: We began by mining the available data and evaluating target audiences to determine what channels would most efficiently boost brand awareness and drive higher dollar sign-ups amongst a niche audience. Our greatest potential for conversions: an audience of hard-to-reach Amazon sellers. To maximize ROI, we sent a passback ID into the DSP based on the type of plan users were signing up for. We then built a look-alike model to drive brand awareness against an audience specific to premium plans, shifting the focus away from ShippingEasy’s $0 starter plan. Partnering with Nielsen on a brand lift study allowed us to measure the effectiveness of the brand awareness campaign and collect insights around which messaging drove the highest lift, and at what frequency.

### Fatty15: Simplifying a story, improving ROAS by 70
https://www.dn3austin.com/work/fatty15
Issue: Omega-3 was discovered over 90 years ago, around the same time Bingo was invented. And for nine whole decades, healthy minded folks never questioned where it came from or how it was made. If they did know, (ahem, machine-pressed fish, rancid inventory, questionable contents), it’s a pretty good bet they wouldn’t take it anymore.
But now there’s a broader, better, safer essential fatty acid: fatty15. Science-backed, patented, no fishy-film taste and boasting many other benefits… this amazing team of MDs, scientists and researchers needed help clearing the clutter and telling their story.
Answer: We generated multiple campaign ideas to test with consumers. The winning campaign direction focused on this simple premise: fatty15 is of this century. After all, science has evolved, so shouldn’t our choice of supplements, too? We think so. Modern science for the win.

### Rebranding A Health Plan, Battling Behemoths
https://www.dn3austin.com/work/bswhp
Issue: The list of health insurance providers in Texas is deep. Anthem, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Aetna tend to dominate the conversation. As part of a system-wide rebrand, Baylor Scott & White Health Plan needed to unveil who they are and what they stand for to multiple audiences – starting with their own members and then across their many product lines and services areas. The request: a brand platform flexible enough to accommodate multiple campaign messages, paired with a full funnel media strategy that would engage existing and prospective members across 171 counties in Texas.
Answer: From upper level brand awareness to lower funnel acquisition, Door No. 3 developed a strategy to educate around BSWHP’s wholly ownable integrated care model. Marketplace, Group, and Medicare campaigns were developed, all laddering up to “That’s My Plan,” a brand platform that showcases the health plan’s offerings while simultaneously celebrating the long term health ambitions of their members.

### Helping an Indie Brand Take Flight
https://www.dn3austin.com/work/birds-barbershop
Issue: When the founders of Birds Barbershop conceived Austin’s first rock and roll barbershop, they knew they’d be butting up against industry giants. As consumers, we’ve grown numb to one of two options for our cut and color: a pricey salon or a no frills experience from the likes of Supercuts. Birds was attempting to carve out a new mid-tier offering: amped up styling without the high prices.
Answer:
As a “Heretical Challenger,” Birds is a brand that redefines perspective by looking over the horizon and bringing people what they didn’t know they needed. We worked with Birds to structure an ethos – a neighborhood barbershop where you can sip a Shiner and get your split ends trimmed while listening to Pavement or Johnny Cash. The graphic system created by Door No. 3 reflected the spirit of a born legend and has allowed Birds to go forth and create an authentic, sustainable story – online and offline.

### Climbing the Charts As A Top Place To Work
https://www.dn3austin.com/work/cirrus-logic
Issue: In Austin’s ultra competitive semiconductor industry, recruiting and retaining top engineering talent is not for the faint of heart. It takes a visionary company with a commitment to corporate culture to keep a workforce happy and inspired. This is no simple task when you’re playing in the same sandbox alongside industry giants like Texas Instruments and Freescale Semiconductor Inc.
Answer: Cirrus Logic looks to Door No. 3 for support in maintaining their position as one of the industry’s best places to work. Our employee recruitment and retention efforts have ranged from video content and web development, to event and collateral materials. Our work also extends into corporate affairs and sales enablement.

### Creating a Brand Platform That Scales
https://www.dn3austin.com/work/phlur
Issue: The perfume industry reeks of high-end fashion brands that put low-quality ingredients in ornately decorated bottles and fly A-List celebrities to exotic locations to promote their scents. Phlur is not one of these brands. They don’t put harmful chemicals in their products, they invest more in perfumers than spokespeople and they aren’t afraid to smile every once in a while. Phlur was turning the fragrance industry on its head, and they needed to attract new like-minded loyalists to help spread the word.
Answer: One of Phlur’s biggest differentiators is their transparency. From their origins to a comprehensive list of clean ingredients to their involvement in social and environmental initiatives, they put a lot of stories out there for the world to see. They represent, righteously so, a lot of things. But they needed a way to consolidate stories and communicate their differentiators to customers instantaneously. Distilling the brand down beyond the sum of its parts, we found that Phlur stands out most for what they stand for. Put simply, Phlur is “Good. Clean. Fun.”

### Growing Across Whole Foods and Beyond
https://www.dn3austin.com/work/beyond-good
Issue: The chocolate business isn’t as sweet as it sounds. It’s a world with too many middlemen who walk away with too much of the profit. Where beans are stripped of their natural taste and farmers are treated like photo-ops. Where people have been blinded to the beauty of what real chocolate and vanilla can be.
Beyond Good’s mission is to change how the world experiences chocolate and vanilla. They came to Door No. 3 needing to better communicate their north star and reintroduce themselves to the Whole Foods shopper after a name change (formerly Madécasse). They had the mission but lacked a well-crafted, motivating story that would rise above the static and misinformation that plagues their crowded industry.
Answer: The name says it all: Beyond Good. Not just in taste, but in practice. Through quality heirloom cocoa beans and their “direct trade” model, chocolate has never been better. We brought this story to life with an ownable voice and a campaign design that built upon the brand’s most recognizable asset – its packaging. Using a combination of brand color and new typography, we developed an aesthetic that bridges all communication touchpoints to what shoppers see on the shelf. The result? Not just good, Beyond Good.

### Creating a Voice for the Voiceless
https://www.dn3austin.com/work/austin-humane-society
Issue: The Austin Humane Society needed help standing out among the dozens of Austin-area shelters. The goals: increase donations in a highly competitive non-profit marketplace, increase animal adoptions and raise awareness around the shelter’s various educational, support and health initiatives.
Answer: Rather than the typical approach of relying on fear and guilt to motivate adoptions and donations, Door No. 3 focused on the emotional connection that any pet lover can relate to—that special bond that makes people inseparable from the pets they love. The campaign imagery was shot on location in Austin with real shelter dogs and their owners.
Results: As a philanthropic team of animal lovers, we were incredibly pleased to help the Austin Humane Society deliver on all three of their intended goals, with marked increases in donations as connected with greater awareness. We’re especially proud of people finding their match: year-over-year, the shelter saw over a 30% increase in monthly adoptions as well as over a 100% increase in holiday adoptions.
