I’m the owner of Noam Audio Ltd. We manufacture powersport audio systems for different vehicles, including motorcycles and UTVs. We manufacture in China and sell in the US.

What challenge were you trying to address with Disruptive Advertising?

We wanted to move away from primarily selling on Amazon and begin selling on our own website. We hired Disruptive Advertising to push our website’s traffic and conversion and to help with sales.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Disruptive Advertising manages our PPC ads on Google and Facebook. They initially worked with me to understand what we were doing, what the main keywords were, and who our competitors were.

They have also done some backend work on our Shopify website so that Google can read the site as it should.

I work with Jacob (CEO) and Janae (Marketing Consultant). Jacob works on Facebook Ads, whereas Janae works on Google Ads. They have their own team on the backend.

I talked with 6–7 companies over a two-week period. I spoke with Nolan (SMB Executive), and Disruptive Advertising’s attitude was exactly what I wanted. They were straightforward about what they could do; there were no empty promises. I felt confident going with them after talking with Nolan.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have very much succeeded. If you look at the website performance before Disruptive worked on it versus after, it’s a different world. They’re helping us make money.

How did Disruptive Advertising perform from a project management standpoint?

They send me weekly performance reports so that we can see how our ads are doing on Google and Facebook. Once a month, I have a phone call with Janae and Jacob to determine next month’s strategy. The communication is top-notch — whenever I send an email, I get a response right away.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I only have experience with one other company, and it was a bad one. I can’t even compare Disruptive Advertising to them. 

Disruptive Advertising is really good at getting traffic to the website and generating conversions. They make sure everything works as it should.

Disruptive Advertising was directed to take over our paid social media ads and run campaign ads for all of our events as well as evergreen ads to raise awareness for BONEFROG as a whole. They were given a goal of a 4x ROAS.

We started with pairing our in house marketing experts with a Facebook expert from Disruptive to go through the learning phase and get the right message we wanted them to convey on BONEFROG's behalf. Within time we added a Google Ads expert from Disruptive.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Overall we're extremely satisfied with everything we've seen from Disruptive Advertising. The reps we work with are top notch and without a doubt have a vested interest in the growth and success of our company. We have constantly raised the bar and every time they have met it if not went above and beyond.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Extremely effective. Communication has and continues to be a receipt for success and it seems to be a core value for Disruptive Advertising.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The fact that they become so invested in the future growth of our company and their willingness to constantly remain flexible with our endless requests for changes in direction and trying new things in regards to marketing.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We have a unique business and not all traditional marketing efforts work with the same results. The only area's for improvement I can predict for Disruptive in regards to our company is time. The more time they have to learn our business message, our clients they're marketing to and the results we get from different ad types will only expand upon the results we can hope to get.

I believe we found them online. Our take on marketing is to give a company about 90 days to see if it works out. They did a great job, so we had no complaints.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our work together lasted about a year. We ended the engagement through no fault of their own — we just decided to go in a different direction with marketing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our goal was to decrease lead cost while increasing lead flow, which they did in a couple of different ways. Marketing is all about ROI, so lower lead cost and higher lead quality. However, a lot of companies can do marketing in this day and age. I was more focused on the customer experience and whether they got back to us in a timely manner. I would recommend Disruptive in a heartbeat.

They excelled in terms of project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication and the customer experience they provided definitely set them apart from other people we’ve worked with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have any constructive criticism. They were a really well put-together organization from top to bottom. 

Any advice for potential customers?

Go into the engagement with a realistic approach — you can’t spend $300 and expect to get results in two days. With online marketing in general, you need to have realistic expectations.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We set a pretty aggressive goal for our return on ad spend (ROAS), but they managed to exceed it significantly.

How did Disruptive Advertising perform from a project management standpoint?

We meet with them on a weekly basis to go over our goals and get a recap on what they’ve worked on during the week. They’ve been really accommodating and communicative throughout the process. Originally, we used Slack to touch base with them, but they were willing to switch to Microsoft Teams when we began using it.  Through Microsoft Teams, we can chat with them several times a week and they address all of our questions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Unlike some other companies we’ve worked with, Disruptive Advertising listens to our needs and are hell-bent on meeting our specific goals. They’ve been extremely professional and insightful.  

They clearly want what’s best for their clients. For example, we asked them to stop social media advertising for a month so we could monitor our revenue. Even though that wasn’t positive for their business, they understood why it was valuable for us and were very helpful. 

They also aren’t afraid to provide feedback even if their input goes against what we think is best. Still, they’re never confrontational and they handle those discussions well. In the end, they have more experience and are a great resource. I appreciate that they’re willing to take risks and test things out.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything they need to improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Potential clients who are on the fence about working with them should ask to speak with someone who isn’t a salesperson. They’ll find that everyone on from Disruptive Advertising is extremely supportive. That definitely helped us decide to work with them.

Our organization provides drug testing services for a range of scenarios, including pre-employment purposes, post-accident cases where the individual is suspected to have a substance disorder, and rehabilitation tests.

As the marketing coordinator, I work with third-party vendors to make sure that our e-commerce site is up to date. I also monitor our ads to see if they’re running properly.

We work with Disruptive Advertising on a range of digital marketing and advertising purposes to promote our testing products and services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

When we started working with Disruptive Advertising, they primarily ran our paid ads on Google, Bing, and social media. They worked independently, doing a lot of the ad creation and management for me to approve. If I had a specific product or service to promote, I’d send over images and our messaging, and they would develop the ad campaigns for us.

As we continued to work together, we realized that they could help us make sure that our emails were effective. They’ve since stepped up to ensure that our contact list is clean and engaged. They assist in developing and improving our automatic flows for purchases, review requests, and email campaigns. This is in addition to working on our paid ads.

What is the team composition? 

It’s a 4¬–5 person team. The team lead does a lot of our work for Google Ads with another support member. Then there’s a person for our Facebook ads and another for our emails.

How did you come to work with Disruptive Advertising?

My manager was looking for a team that would be responsive to our needs. We wanted a company that could not only do our social and Google activities but also assist with other projects (e.g., email, chatbot).

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve worked with them since January 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’re a very helpful team that produces good work. We have meetings every other week to discuss how the current month went by and what the coming month’s strategy will be. Generally, the goal is to double the return on assets (ROA) each month so that we can hit a year-over-year growth of 5%, and they meet those targets.

They’re always willing to pivot directions to meet our needs. For example, we started to do COVID-19 tests and wanted to get ads out. Disruptive Advertising quickly added that to the scope so that they could work with us.

How did Disruptive Advertising perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is always on top of our tasks. We email almost every day, whether it’s for a question, an update, or even just more information on a product. They always respond by the next day and keep to their promises. If they say they’ll have a task done by the end of the week, it will be done by that timeframe. They’re never late.

What did you find most impressive about them?

As a team, they’re very supportive. 2020 had been a stressful year that was full of upheaval. We had to change directions so many times, so it’s been really helpful to have them support us. They make sure that everything runs smoothly, and I like them as people.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I’m a satisfied customer.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

For me, it’s important to make a human connection with them. That means being open with yourself and transparent about what’s going on with your business. They can then figure out how to best support you, partly because they’re able to go with the flow and adapt.

I’m the marketing manager for a company that manufactures and distributes home gardening products.

What challenge were you trying to address with Disruptive Advertising?

We were looking for a new agency partner to manage our social advertising. That partner would eventually grow with us to manage our retargeting and general web programmatic display advertising efforts.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Disruptive Advertising has been managing our paid social advertising across Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest since August 2019. During the 2019 holiday season, they also started to manage our retargeting efforts through Criteo. In early 2020, we shifted to the Google Display Network, so their team handled our complete transition. They now manage our campaigns there and across YouTube, as well. 

For each specific channel that they manage, their responsibilities have included some creative development on ads. They create the ads and submit them to me for review. I provide them with edits, and, once they implement the changes, I approve the ads.

What is the team composition? 

There are three people on their side. We work with two paid social team leads and a senior marketing strategist.

How did you come to work with Disruptive Advertising?

At the time, our company was majority-owned by another company that had been working with Disruptive Advertising. That company recommended them to us.

How much have you invested with them?

We work on a share of media at about 10.5%. At this point, we’ve spent close to $3.5 million in media, which is about a little over $35,000 in their fees.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them since August 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In the beginning, our Facebook paid ad campaigns delivered a return on ad spend (ROAS) of about $3–$4 with full attribution. We didn’t have a lot of opportunities to expand those campaigns successfully. 

That changed after working with Disruptive Advertising. They started to implement granular targeting, went after very niche audiences, and created multiple different campaigns with which we could adjust budget and allocation. As a result, we’ve achieved a ROAS of up to $8 for our acquisition campaign and over $20 at certain points for our retargeting campaigns.

How did Disruptive Advertising perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve done very well in meeting most deadlines. I’ve found a little bit of a challenge with the turnaround on creative deliverables, but they’re quite efficient in general. We typically communicate via email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed by their creativity in targeting and thinking outside of the box for marketing solutions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I think they could improve on providing more holistic recommendations and plans. It’s tough due to the nature of our brand’s management and our agency partners, but it’d be helpful if they could be more collaborative there. They could strategically push back a bit more with their recommendations rather than just taking orders.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I’d advise potential customers to provide Disruptive Advertising with more high-level information and objectives, and then let the team come back with a plan on how to execute that. Don’t just tell them soup to nuts what they should be doing for your campaign.

How did you select Disruptive Advertising?

We selected Disruptive because they listened to what we truly desired and needed to help us get the most out of the platform. They presented us with a specific plan of action and what they could to do to help us achieve our goals. They went above and beyond to show their worth!

They did everything within the LinkedIn platform, from creating ads to setting them up, to launching and monitoring the ads performances. They were a full service team that really helped in the areas where we couldn't spend as much time focusing on.

What was the team composition?

There were two people we worked with from Disruptive on a regular basis not including the creative team which we never interacted with. The team stayed the same which really helped keep everyone aligned with tasks and what we wanted to accomplish.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We hit all our goals when we were working with Disruptive, we never fell short on one. This was crucial because it provided us with the relief to know we were still achieving what we needed to, but could feel comfortable in knowing that the disruptive could handle the task at hand and reach our goals.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow between our team and theirs was seamless. We would communicate over email for the broader team meetings with an agenda that was always succinct and clear. While also joining us on a Slack channel so we could communicate quickly and efficiently if needed. They also adapted to our design tool Figma which was amazing because it allowed us to keep our ads natively.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was thoroughly impressed with how quickly they were able to adapt to our company's mission and strategy. We are in a very technical space and it took them no time to understand what our goals were and how we needed to market the company.

Are there any areas for improvement?

They did everything we asked of them and more! They were a great asset and I wish we could have worked with them longer.

I’m a senior digital marketing manager at Gateway Genomics, a biotech company that sells DNA test kits for women to find out the gender of their baby at eight weeks. I essentially oversee all digital channels for our company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Disruptive Advertising?

When we initially engaged Disruptive, we were facing both internal and external challenges. We’d been working with a company that wasn’t delivering on our asks, so we were looking for an agency that would be our marketing partner. We needed a company that would help us grow while providing strategic and production support.

We also needed to figure out how we could continue to scale and grow within the PPC space while hitting our return on ad spend (ROAS) benchmark goal.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Disruptive helps us with PPC. They’ve expanded our ROAS to new channels and collaborated with our Google rep to see what other opportunities there are. We’ve tried a lot of different new betas and campaign formats; however, Google is very strict about remarketing in the healthcare sector, so we haven’t been able to utilize some of the available campaigns. Disruptive has helped us figure out other ways to continue expanding while hitting our ROAS goal. 

Each month, we look for new ways to keep growing. They look through our search term report to see if there are any opportunities for us to capture search terms in our campaigns as keywords. The team also learns from our Dynamic Search Ads (DSA) campaigns. They add keywords to our Google Shopping descriptions and work with Google whenever our Shopping Ads aren’t appearing in the search engine results page (SERP). They run display remarketing through SiteScout and make sure we’re targeting the right audience. 

In addition to the day-to-day PPC work, they’ve also been very helpful in creating video content for our YouTube account. They introduced us to YouTube ads and have looked for ways to segment and target users. They’ve created two videos and are working on the third one now. The first video utilized stock video clips, and we provided the script. They found video clips that spoke to what we wanted to convey to our audience. Then, they put the video together. For the second video, we gave them an idea of what we wanted to do, and they created the script and animation. They worked very closely with us and essentially created the entire video. For this third video, they will once again handle everything from A–Z while working closely with us to ensure everything is in line with what we’re looking for.

What is the team composition?

We have two core people who I meet with once a week. We also have one main point of contact from the video team. 

How did you come to work with Disruptive Advertising?

I found them through a quick Google search for the best PPC agencies. We decided to go with them due to their service fee structure, which we thought was very fair. Also, their communication was very on-point and high touch. 

Hitting our ROAS goal is our tried-and-true method of assessing whether things are going well or not, which we relayed to Disruptive when we began partnering together. Based on our initial conversations on strategies and roadmaps, it seemed like we were on the same page, so it felt right to bring them on board. I used to work at a digital marketing agency doing PPC, so I’m very familiar with the space and the work that ties into making a campaign successful. It was easy for me to vet an agency because I knew what I wanted, based on my past experience.

Our work together began in January 2020, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I told Disruptive that they could spend as much as they needed to in order to meet the ROAS benchmark, and they’ve been able to do that on a month-to-month basis. They’re very proactive in rolling out strategies and implementing things that they know will be beneficial to our campaign. When we’re in season, I let them know that they can scale up; in other months, we typically see performance drop a bit. We’ve been in very high communication. Anecdotally, they’ve been a really great partner, and the metrics have been in line with the goal we set out for them.

Disruptive has done a really good job of growing our budget — since we began working with them, we’ve grown our ad spend from $64,000 to $130,000. They almost doubled our ad spend while continuing to hit the ROAS benchmark that we set.

How did Disruptive Advertising perform from a project management standpoint?

PPC doesn’t necessarily entail project management, whereas video content production does. Our first video project with Disruptive was very smooth, and the turnaround time was quick. There were some delays with the second video, which were probably caused by the holiday season. Our account manager Aaron (Marketing Strategy Lead) has always been highly communicative, so I think it was their video team that dropped the ball a bit.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They look for ways to help us continue to test and learn so that we can grow and expand. They always have a strategic roadmap laid out for the following weeks, months, and quarters — there’s always a plan. 

The way we’ve been able to work together has been great as well. We can brainstorm and bounce ideas off of each other. They really feel like our strategic partner, as opposed to somebody who is just doing work for us and taking our directives. They come to the table with new ideas as well, and I really appreciate them for that.

Are there any areas they could improve?

A quicker turnaround time for the video project would’ve been nice. Other than that, they should just continue to be proactive and think of ways to keep testing. We’re at a really good point with our campaigns right now, so I do wonder whether Disruptive will continue to test and expand. They’ve already tried a lot of things, so I hope they continue working with Google to continuously look for new ways of testing.

Any advice for potential customers?

Just be very clear about your goals, and make sure they align with the business’s overall objectives. Channels can be very siloed, but they all work in tandem with each other. Take into account that PPC performance can affect other channels.

I’m the COO of Crossover Symmetry. Our company sells fitness and rehab products, primarily online. I handle the operations, but I also do some sales and marketing as well.

What challenge were you trying to address with Disruptive Advertising?

We didn’t have the bandwidth to deal with all of our advertising demands. We tried a few different agencies and most of them started out great, but their performance would wane. We’d just let another firm go when we found Disruptive. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our engagement has evolved over the years, but it started out with just social media marketing. Very quickly, we brought them on onboard to do our Google search advertising and marketing. That effort was primarily around sales conversions, but it eventually morphed into a focus on lead generation and brand recognition.

We’ve also started doing website optimization with Disruptive, as well as email marketing. Now, they’re in charge of every email that goes out from us in terms of sales. 

In addition to their primary services, they do some ad hoc work as well. Right now we’re doing platform discovery, where Disruptive will go out and help us test different spots to see if it has potential or not. For instance, the team just did some advertising on Spotify to test that market.

What is the team composition?

Right now, we have a team of about six people who work with us regularly. They also have a graphic design team and a number of other resources that they utilize as well, though I don’t speak with them directly. My main point of contact is Craig (VP of Enterprise).

How did you come to work with Disruptive Advertising?

I believe I originally found them through a virtual search. 

How much have you invested with them?

The base we’re spending for all their services right now is $7,500 per month, but we started at $1,500 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since February 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

With Disruptive, we’ve continually grown in revenue and sales. Just in the last year, we grew revenue by 34%. The year before that it was 20%, and the year before that it was about 60$. Our customer base and product base have also grown steadily through their work.

How did Disruptive Advertising perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management skills are excellent. With the amount of people and pieces involved, I wouldn’t be able to do it myself. The fact that they’re able to manage so many moving parts and report to me on a daily and weekly basis with metrics and scorecards is incredible. We’re quite pleased with Disruptive’s services. 

In terms of tools, we use Glue.io for metrics and email for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Without a doubt, it’s the fact that they’re continually trying new things. Disruptive is constantly testing new audiences, new campaigns, and new strategies, which is why we continue to work with them. Other agencies we’ve worked with have been involved for the first few months, but after that, they just kind of let it ride. Disruptive is never complacent; they’re always trying to help us grow.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing I can think of. They’re constantly trying new things, and sometimes those things don’t work, but we’re fine with that.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be completely open and honest with them about how you run your business, because that will help them do a better job. If you’re not communicating about certain issues or concerns, it hampers how they might tweak their advertising and things like that.

We’re a parts manufacturer for diesel engines intended for use in light and medium-duty trucks. Our company manufactures fuel injectors, turbo fuel injection pumps, and some parts related to those types of systems. I manage the sales and marketing efforts here, and I’ve been working here since October 2019.

Our main area of work together is PPC through Google.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re running a few different styles of campaigns in our Google Ads suite. We have display ads, shopping ads, and more. The goal is to drive customers to our website and serve them ads specific to their needs.  

Disruptive Advertising is also handling some site optimization work, though that’s a secondary piece of their work. They aim to make our site’s UX accomodating for users. However, their main focus with us is Google Ads.

Our team sets an ROI goal to measure their success in placing ads. Generally speaking, they’re doing a good job of meeting our return on advertising spend goals. We’re very satisfied with them.   

How did Disruptive Advertising perform from a project management standpoint?

In our weekly meetings, the entire team is present so each individual is aware of all of the moving parts on our account. Our meetings provide an outlook for the next few weeks, and we recieve a summary of previous weeks’ performance as well. They have slide decks with short-term and yearly goals, and all of that is very transparent to us. We’ve been able to understand their work because they’re strong communicators.   

If we have a slowdown in sales or another concern, they’re very responsive to our messages. When we provide feedback, they respond back to us within a day at the most. They do a good job holding to established timelines as well. We’re happy with their management of our timelines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Our owner really appreciates having frequent and regular communication through our weekly meetings. Their communication has been very strong. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They push us on our bandwidth sometimes. I’m sure they always have a reason for doing so. For example, we jumped right into social advertising, despite feeling some hesitation on our end. It didn’t generate revenue as quickly as we would’ve liked, but we’re definitely happy with it now. They respond to all of our issues, so I can’t think of too many negatives. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Stay as engaged as possible. It helps if you’re able to provide active feedback and remain connected to their marketing efforts.
