What challenge were you trying to address with Digital Trons?

We wanted to develop a mobile app that college coaches could access on their mobile phones on the field or on recruiting trips.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We asked that it be completed in React Native so that it could easily go into the Apple Store or Google Play. We also wanted something that would be easy to update after we got feedback from users. Digital Trons completed all of the development work for the app, but they also worked with our existing developer group to build out the API between the apps. The team had some design authority on the app as well.

What is the team composition?

We worked with Krunal (Managing Partner, Digital Trons), and he was our chief designer.

How did you come to work with Digital Trons?

Digital Trons was recommended to me by another Atlanta based business. I went through the process of getting three proposals before we made a decision. Their price and value were by far the best fit for us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested approximately $17,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our project began in November 2018 and was completed in May 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Although it’s still too early to gauge the new app’s success, the initial reaction from our stakeholders was positive.

How did Digital Trons perform from a project management standpoint?

Digital Trons performed very well from a project management stance. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet our overall deadline; part of that can be attributed to the API development, which was out of their control.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team was very diligent in fixing any errors immediately and was determined to make the app correctly. I also liked that they had an independent Q&A process and the testing they did a good job of testing the app. I would recommend Digital Trons. They were very easy to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

One thing I would want is more formal project management methodology. Maybe following an agile methodology that would provide more insight.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would urge potential customers to be as clear as possible when initially laying the groundwork for the project. Clarity is key when dealing with development projects.

I’m the owner of Goodbit Designs LLC, a company focused on embedded systems product development.

For what projects/services did your company hire DIGITAL TRONS?

We needed development of a web app to run on Raspberry Pi and to be displayed on a touchscreen.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed the finished app to serve as the UI for a new appliance and interface with a server developed by another group. It also needed to display several graphical screens based on communications.

How did you select this vendor?

I met the principal at a networking event and I thought his team would be a good fit for our project.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They developed our web app to serve as a graphical user interface for a new appliance. This app displayed about a dozen screens based on server input and returned data based on user inputs. Several of the screens were integrated with animations and other elements that changed dynamically based on the state of the appliance.

What was the team composition?

We originally worked with four people from their team, but we just worked with one following a change in our own client’s requirements.

The finished app was visually appealing and worked exactly as we expected.

They handled project management on their end and they communicated well with us.

They sometimes could have been more proactive in their response to emails and issues that came up.

I'm the CEO of Flourish Software. We provide supply chain management and compliance software for the legal cannabis and CBD/hemp markets.

What challenge were you trying to address with DIGITAL TRONS? 

We needed an offshore development house that could act as an extension of our core team at an affordable rate.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Over the past three years, they’ve provided full-service development support for several projects. We typically handle the core application and product design strategy, and they help us execute the development. They’re proficient in a variety of technologies, including Go, Python, Node.js, JavaScript, Angular, HTML, and CSS.

As we’ve scaled up our business, we’ve expanded DIGITAL TRON’s engagement, growing their front- and backend teams as well as onboarding a QA team. The latter manages the automated testing for our products. They’ve also assigned a resource to provide DevOps support for AWS. 

What is the team composition? 

We coordinate closely with designated leads on the development and QA sides, which helps to ensure that all parties adhere to our processes. Beyond that, we’ve consistently grown their team over the course of the relationship, and we’re now looking to staff even more positions. 

How did you come to work with DIGITAL TRONS? 

I had reached out to their owner because we were looking for guidance on our development. After some initial discussions, he suggested that we used DIGITAL TRONS as an offshore team, so we tested them out. It’s been a good relationship ever since.

What is the status of this engagement? 

Their work started in 2016 and is ongoing. It’s a long-term engagement, and we don’t have any plans to switch providers.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I can’t articulate how important they’ve been to our success. They’re an amazing partner that delivers high-quality work at an affordable rate. This has been key to helping us propel our business forward.

In the last two years, we’ve built and deployed five major products, one of which is in the seven-figure range, and the execution has been exceptionally smooth. The fact that we’ve only continued to grow their team is a testament to their development skills.

How did DIGITAL TRONS perform from a project management standpoint?

As we’ve grown as a company, we’ve revised our development and communication processes several times. In each instance, DIGITAL TRONS has adapted well to our changes, offering guidance on how to best optimize our workflow. We currently use Atlassian and Slack to coordinate the project and work off of the same design specs and code repositories. 

What did you find most impressive about them? 

Working with their CEO has been a great value-add on our end. He’s an experienced senior developer who has worked with large US companies, so he knows how to coach his team and advises us on best practices.

Are there any areas they could improve? 

No, I can’t think of anything. Anytime we’ve given them constructive feedback, they’ve taken our comments in stride and made immediate changes to address the issue. I appreciate how proactive they are at communicating, and they have a good command of English.

I’m the CEO of a B2B travel technology company. We provide solutions that other companies can use to personalize their travel search results and enforce rules and policies.

What challenge were you trying to address with DIGITAL TRONS?

We needed web development support for our transition from a B2C to a B2B platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve organized the project a product lifecycle, as opposed to one-off tasks. DIGITAL TRONS converted our old platform using Node.js and the existing API and UI. Depending on the parameters—corporate-side rules or new requirements—the team either built new components from scratch or on top of the legacy solution. For example, the team built new back office features for B2B management.

Using one back office site, we can now distribute license keys and manage subscriptions and sign-ups for trials and demos. Also, we can upload data and discard outmoded self-service B2C functionalities. The team has enabled us to execute these processes internally.

What is the team composition?

We have one main point of contact.

How did you come to work with DIGITAL TRONS?

We wanted an affordable local vendor or a larger agency with a local presence. DIGITAL TRONS’ principal in the United States replied to our posting on AngelList. I met him for coffee and thought he was a good fit.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2017 and the partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t have metrics because we’re in an in-between stage. DIGITAL TRONS got the product where it needed to be in fall 2018. Currently, my team is pursuing marketing and sales partnerships, which we had sidelined during development.

Although more stress testing is necessary, the product is slick and works as intended. We’ve received positive feedback from external stakeholders and colleagues at industry events. The team now needs to maintain the solution’s quality as we continue to innovate.

How did DIGITAL TRONS perform from a project management standpoint?

The stateside resource is a good person to have on a small team. He has a versatile range of skills and has been a great fit for our company. We hold biweekly calls and communicate in the interim as needed.

As a team, DIGITAL TRONS is better than average with responsive communication, timely deliveries, and accurate work. Nothing is perfect, but the experience is solid for a largely offshore partnership.

What did you find most impressive about them?

DIGITAL TRONS demonstrates a sense of ownership and duty with their work. What’s more, the team is accountable and responsible. They acknowledge their mistakes and then fix them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There haven’t been any major issues.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Clients should spend time with their domestic contacts. Similarly, I spent a few hours with the team in India when I was in the country for a separate venture. We established an advantageous rapport. Even short meetings pay dividends, especially with local contacts.

I’m the CEO and founder of Fanboard Inc. We provide a platform that allows marketers to engage fans using augmented reality and mobile games.

For what projects/services did your company hire DIGITAL TRONS?

We engaged DIGITAL TRONS to help us create a web-based control center for the platform. Admins can manage their AR game, assign sponsors, define rewards, distribute user-generated content, and communicate with fans through push notifications.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to complete a functioning product that would allow marketers to create and manage a game for their fans while easily accessing and publishing new content.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I met a member of the team at a pitch event. After a few conversations, I could tell DIGITAL TRONS was genuinely interested in my business and the problems we wanted to solve. They showed that they were knowledgeable and capable of tacking our project under a tight timeframe.

Describe the project in detail.

Our side designed a PokemonGo style AR game for sports teams. We needed the marketing teams of these sports clubs to easily place a pin on a map and then assign a sponsor and reward to that pin. DIGITAL TRONS created a web-based dashboard to handle those interactions. The game also creates Facebook posts that fans are prompted to post when they capture the mascot in the game. This dashboard tool collects this content so that sponsors—which consists mostly of sports clubs—can distribute to their video boards and social media channels.

DIGITAL TRONS helped make crucial decisions in choosing out our tech stack and architecting the platform’s infrastructure. They completed work on the dashboard in weekly sprints.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We launched the full product—included the dashboard and mobile AR game—for a critical client. The debut helped us land other clients and a place in an accelerator program.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

DIGITAL TRONS manages a fluid and efficient workflow. We plan weekly sprints though Google Hangouts meetings and communicate through our internal Slack channel.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

DIGITAL TRONS’s ability to translate our designs into working solutions stands out to us. They also are very punctual and consistent in showing up for the work.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, I can’t think of anything. The team is honest, cooperative, and excellent at their work.

I learned of Digital Trons through a referral from a friend.

I relied on Digital Trons to develop my application for iOS and Android. The premise of the app is that it tracks memories, photos, updates, and the like so that users can share them with friends and family. The app features advanced search functionalities to sort through numerous saved experiences, and there are extensive security measures to protect personal data and limit what other users can view.

I worked only with a project manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I am excited to see quite a few downloads so far.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

My project manager was communicative and delivered on all of the requirements. I enjoyed working with Digital Trons, and we are already collaborating on the next project.

Their communication and delivery really impressed me. I never felt like my project wasn't being tended to.
