We wanted to develop a hybrid, cross-platform app with query-based mobile services.

We worked with an IT company that sub-contracted GKIM Digital.

They built the hybrid platform and deployed it with a native wrapper. Deliverables included UI/UX development, backend integrations, and query solutions.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

GKIM Digital’s work enabled us to make significant progress with mobile development during our first foray into query-based services. Maintenance was simple because the platform utilized a single deployment.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our teams worked well together. GKIM Digital provided management and stakeholder engagement updates via their contractor.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

GKIM Digital delivered outstanding quality. They were a committed and reliable partner that could engage stakeholders at any level. They had a flexible timeframe.  

Are there any areas for improvement?

They should open more support offices in the region to streamline communication.

What challenge were you trying to address with GKIM Digital?

We engaged them to complete the second phase of our mobile application development. We planned this stage as a three-month process.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We built the app in a hybrid development with an Amazon Web Services (AWS) backend and Umbraco database. We specified each task in Jira Kanban and Github, along with detailed designs in Illustrator.

What is the team dynamic?

The team included developers and QA specialists.

How did you come to work with GKIM Digital?

We found them through a referral.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

They took six months for the three-month project. During this time, we issued several warnings and requests via email, texts, and phone. I even flew to Vietnam. However, they didn’t shift resources in a meaningful way, which suggested indifference. Their QA process left several errors in an incomplete code. Consequently, we had to devote new resources to resolve the issue. That fix was burdensome.

How was project management handled?

They lacked a customer-oriented approach. The team was communicative, but produced incomplete and insufficient work. They didn’t deliver on their initial promises about best efforts in a collaborative setting.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

I can’t think of anything that was impressive.

In what specific areas can they improve?

Their promises didn’t match their ability to deliver. The team needed to change its approach top-down. The team also needed to respect the client’s deadlines.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

I won’t work with them again. I wouldn’t recommend them.
