""The most impressive thing about them is their dedication."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Chief Innovation officer for a Retail IT solution company headquartered in Atlanta, working on the innovation process of the organization. Identifying new technologies and strategies to develop and build new architectures.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Deqode?

We wanted to take some of our offline services online. Build a mobile application(our solution).

What were your goals for this project?

The app was to simplify the payment processes(payment gateway). We received a great response to our beta project and wanted to launch the complete application as soon as possible. We expected the number of downloads to double after the launch.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

I found them google, and researched about them. After a couple of emails, they scheduled the first introductory call and I must say, speaking to them it felt, we chose the right company for our development processes. They shared their case studies and a highly impactful portfolio. The prices they offered were in our budget.

Describe the project in detail.

We shared with them our wireframes and documentation. The next call was scheduled with the team and within two weeks they provided us the initial design of the app. It was just the way we wanted. After a couple of iterations, we finalized the design.

What was the team composition?

My person of contact was the PM, who provided me with all the progress details on the project. They assigned a Project manager, one front end developer, and 2 blackened developers, one UI/UX designer, and a QA tester as per our requirements.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our aim was to simplify the payment process and it did. Second, we aimed the number of downloads to double after the main launch. And this app helped us reach both our goals. Within two months we started receiving reviews on our app and they were pretty amazing.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Honestly, it was very good, I was provided with a daily and weekly status report on the project. We would have our calls once a week. The team was highly punctual. We had a strict deadline as our launch date was already scheduled, and they did not miss a single deadline and provided everything timely.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive thing about them is their dedication. The app they delivered was of a high standard of quality. They were always available for feedback and would take them very seriously. Working with them was an amazing experience.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, they are amazing.

**The Review** — May 27, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: The team successfully completed the first phase of development in a timely matter. Deqode has maintained efficient, regular communication with stakeholders. They were quick to solve any minor issues that arose.
""They were responsive and great at meeting our deadlines."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the CTO of a fast-growing startup which is dedicated toward bringing landlords, renters and communities closer together through a powerful shared mission. Currently we are team of 27 employees - both full time and part time. I work as a Director of Engineering and my main focus is to realize our vision by using new-age technologies.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Deqode?

We were founded in 2019 and we were a small team back then. We needed help with the backend development of our mobile application. We also needed to ensure that it is designed and built in a way that it could be integrated with the backend of the backend of the landlord dashboard. We needed urgent help with the design, architecture and initial development of our mobile application. Since we were small team back then, we had to outsource it to Deqode.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to design and build an app that is scalable. We didn't want to create quick applications which fail to handle user request when the traffic increases.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Deqode's team reached out to us to check if we needed any help with the development. These guys were really upfront about the terms of work and the flexibility that they offer while working with remote teams. We had a few discussions over the call and then decided to check if Deqode is the right fit for us through a test task. Deqode's team performed the test task and the results were satisfactory. We shared the sketches, complete feature list with the team to estimate the time and cost associated with the development of the application. The time and cost were fitting our budget and timeline, so we agreed upon working with Deqode for our Mobile App Development.

Describe the project in detail.

The range of services was divided into three areas. The first was a analysis phase where we worked to assess the technical feasibility of the feature list of the app. The second was to utilize Deqode's deep industry knowledge to create a robust and scalable architecture for the app. The third piece was working on the first phase of the backend development.

What was the team composition?

- 2 Backend Developers - 1 Technical Architect

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were able to complete the first phase of our development within the timeline.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We used Slack for communication between our teams. They provided at least 4 hours overlap with our timezone which made the communication quicker and helped us minor issues in hours rather than days. We had review meetings every fortnight to keep track of the project development.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were responsive and great at meeting our deadlines, staying on track to make sure each person was working diligently on hitting deadlines. The timeline worked out well because of that.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I think we could have done more frequent review meetings. Although we were updated on a daily basis and everything was done timely, it would have been better if we were able to review the work every week. I

## Portfolio & Awards

### How we scaled the development team of South Africa
When Xneelo approached Deqode, they were working with Monolith written in PHP. Their team knew that it was not a scalable architecture, but the practice of updating it was very complex. They reviewed the code looking for units that served a specific purpose and found baffling cases, for instance, their konsoleH function.
Different teams were responsible for these isolated functions which required them to come together periodically leading to extra builds and redundant tests. In addition, 10 million lines of code, hundreds of thousands of classes, and thousands of packages meant a high level of complexity.
The solution came with Microservices, in a modular system with re-utilizable building blocks. Our team had a concrete goal - optimization of Xneelo’s performance by migrating from the purely monolithic system to a new microservices infrastructure. We made a plan which involved transitioning in steps to ensure users would notice only little changes.
We started with decoupling backend services to ensure that AWS integration was working. After that went well, we moved to services that impacted the user interface such as configurations, payments, sign-up, and so on. It was a challenge to ensure that the on-premise structure had the capacity to handle all the requests.
