The scope of work performed in this project involved developing new features for the iPad iOS application. The application aimed to streamline the templating and installation operations for the company. The work included analyzing the existing workflow and identifying pain points, designing and implementing new features within the iOS app to address the identified issues and streamline the process, and integrating an inventory module into the application. 

The team did testing and QA to ensure the application's functionality, usability, and performance. They collaborated with the company's team to gather feedback and ensure the application met their requirements. The VBA to C# migration aimed to leverage the benefits of multi-threading to enhance the speed and efficiency of the process. 

Additionally, the project involved the development of web pages to display the routes calendar and map, providing a user-friendly interface for accessing and visualizing the optimized routes.

I’m the owner of a gift-giving mobile app business.

What challenge were you trying to address with Denovo Studios?

We contracted Denovo Studios to help build out some features and get our app into the app store.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Alongside our development team, Denovo Studios developed the features of an app that allows users to send a digital gift to someone via an image. Once someone receives the gift, they can digitally unwrap it on the screen. 

When they do that, the front camera catches their reaction and sends it back to the sender. The team wrote the code in Xamarin so that if there are any changes, we only need to update the code once versus trying to update each platform’s code separately.

We spent approximately $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in January 2019. They just wrapped up their last project, but we may engage them in the future if we have something to add.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Denovo Studios is very responsive, and if we have an issue, Andy is usually quick to jump on it.

How did Denovo Studios perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re quite good as far as managing our requests and mapping out the steps that need to be taken to finish the project. This gives us insights of timing, when things are going to be done, and what we can expect in the next phase.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ability to develop in Xamarin is a good skill.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve on their QA to make sure that the functionalities of all versions are working well.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Even though they’re an outside third-party, it feels like they’re a part of your team. They were so intertwined with what we were doing, which was a nice feeling.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were able to double-bill hours since there were two people working on the project, not just one. Otherwise, it was nice to have someone else to talk about the specifics of the app. Their design work was invaluable and helped me work on the backend things and the business logic. 

How did Denovo Studios perform from a project management standpoint?

They were excellent. Things were always done when they said they would be. The team was very good at estimating time, and asking for clarification when things weren’t clear.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were very good with communication. The team is able to speak intelligently about what they’re going to do and what potential issues would be. I’ve had a lot of contractors just nod their heads, without knowing what I’m asking for, and do whatever they want. Denovo Studios really took the time to understand what I was looking for.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, no that I can recall.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I don’t think I had to do a lot. They asked me when they needed information, and I would make sure to inform them when the scope of work changed.

Denovo Studios crafted a research-based user experience and user interface that emulated social media applications, providing an engaging and familiar environment for adolescents. 
The development of both Android and iOS versions of the app was achieved using the latest cross-platform tools, ensuring wide accessibility across different devices. A significant feature of the app was the integration of Stories, mirroring those found in real social media platforms. These Stories were designed to present realistic scenarios for the users, facilitating an immersive learning experience. 
Additionally, the team developed a sophisticated chatbot within the app, which allowed users to engage in realistic conversations about various topics in a safe virtual environment. This feature was integral in providing interactive and practical learning experiences. The process from discovery to development was marked by a strategic approach, beginning with understanding the project's vision, followed by detailed planning and design phases. 
Wireframes and mockups were developed to give a clear idea of what the final product would look and feel like. Throughout the development process, Denovo Studios ensured close collaboration and communication, focusing on translating the vision for the app into a digital reality. They also placed a high priority on user privacy and safety, implementing measures to secure personal information and adhere to strict privacy guidelines.

Measurable outcomes included a sophisticated chat bot, incorporation of story scripted into the mobile app interface, and integration of AI images throughout the platform.

Denovo has always delivered items promptly and with excellence. Tracking of current and previous work has made it easy to determine the work that has been completed and deliverables still needed. My requests were answered and integrated promptly. The team does a great job provided rationals behind every decision as well.

The company ensures that specific context and development experts are working on specific components of the project. The goal was to give a facelift to the existing app we had in production, as well as implement new features and integrate work from other contracted companies on the job.

We found them on Upwork and selected them amongst several other companies and freelancers after having great early engagement talks.

The project is a multiple form app designed to allow users to input sensitive data. As such, the dev team was to help with providing security as well as implementing a much-improved design that kept much of the same functionality from the production app.

We only engaged with Andy.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was a success. Furthermore, they were great for helping us fix bugs that other developers outside of their organization had made and helpful in brainstorming sessions.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Highly effective as we talked at least 2 times every day.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The willingness to help out even when they don't have to. Furthermore, their time management was very nice to see too.
