What was the scope of their involvement?

Cybez developed an online and mobile marketplace for users to sell used cars. They used Node.js to create the web application and Flutter to create the mobile application, which is compatible with iOS and Android. The functionality is the same across the two platforms, and users can register as sellers, buyers, or both.

We worked with 4-5 team members from Cybez, including a designer, a website developer, and two people on the mobile app side.

We found Cybez on Upwork.

We invested less than $10,000 in the partnership with Cybez.

We worked with Cybez from April–December 2021.

Our application has reached 3,000 downloads, and we have 5,000 active users. 

How did Cybez perform from a project management standpoint?

Cybez did a good job managing the project via Asana. We communicated via WhatsApp, email, and phone. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were most impressed by the quality of Cybez’s development skills. They were masters when it came to Flutter. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their code was a bit heavy.

I 100% recommend Cybez; they’re a great team.

I’m a self-employed freelance journalist and author, so I do a range of different things. I’ve had novels published and I write articles for various newspapers and magazines like The Guardian and The Times of India. I’ve also written for some American newspapers like The Boston Globe and The Nation.

What challenge were you trying to address with Cybez?

I needed a website that reflected my diverse interests across various mediums. I’m also active on social media and blog so I wanted a place where I could put everything together. I have a wide age range of readership, so it needed to be easy to navigate.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They asked me to send them some websites that I thought were interesting — I wanted it to be colorful and eye-catching. I made it clear I didn’t want a text-heavy website. The site needed to cater to the various interests and topics I write about, some of which were slightly diverse. 

To create the site, they used WordPress, and initially, we had a few problems with loading speed so they went back to it. After I refined my requirements, they asked various questions about added security and they implemented it. They added the features I wanted, including adding my work to the website so commissioning editors could find it and hosting my newsletter. They also placed Amazon links to my books on the site itself.

How did you come to work with Cybez?

I live in London and I’m Pakistani — I considered getting someone from England, but it’s very expensive. Since I’m self-employed, the cost has to come out of my own pocket for building the site. Because of this, I considered hiring teams from Pakistan.

I was referred to Cybez by a friend who has an online store and was happy with their work. I explained my requirements to Atul and he had a very can-do attitude. I liked that he was cooperative and willing, so we went ahead with the work. 

How much have you invested in them?

I spent around £1,500 (approximately $1,900 USD) for his work, but then I paid extra for added security and other things like my newsletter hosting.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from February–June 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I like the website they created — it is fresh and easy while being eye-catching. If issues came up after we went live, Atul corrected them immediately, like loading issues with my Instagram posts

How did Cybez perform from a project management standpoint?

Atul was constantly available to me. Even recently, I had a couple of issues and I sent him a WhatsApp message and he was on it immediately and fixed it within 20 minutes. If I had a question, I asked to call and it’d happen within a day. Cybez was extremely responsive, efficient, and punctual. 

Atul gave me a two-week guarantee period after the website had been completed and went live, but I asked for a month because of COVID-19 and I didn’t know if people would be using it less or more. He was very kind and immediately agreed to a month. If issues did occur he corrected them immediately. He was responsive even after that time had passed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their responsiveness made them stand out the most. I’ve had experiences in the past where someone would talk up a big game and then when you give them some money, they suddenly become much less focused on your work. Cybez was not like that at all.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We have a couple of small things that are going on at the moment, but Atul is fixing those. I’m not an expert in web design, but I think a fault in the design needs to be fixed, which Atul is doing even though the guarantee period is over.

Since this was my first website, it took me a lot longer to figure out what I wanted in the beginning. You should know exactly what you’re looking for. It’s the same whether you’re having a house or website built.

Assigning the right resources is very crucial for ensuring performance. We have seen a visible improvement in performance after the inclusion of Shama in the team. Would have been great if we could have onboarded her earlier on in our team. 

We might have been profitable by now. While we have achieved great results, we are yet to break even and I am looking forward to that in the coming month. Overall we are in the positive direction. Looking forward to having a profitable future with you.

Very useful insights on the UI / UX observations and we were able to see get 80% of the changes done within a week and see the results immediately. Our conversion rate has gone up from .77% to 1.16%.
