I hired Crowdbotics to develop a custom dropshipping application. The application integrates with Shopify and be listed in the Shopify App Store. The main application deliverables are: 

• Create app that integrates with retailer Shopify store 
• Sync all products from our Shopify store 
• Allow retailer to list products from app to their Shopify store 
• Sync orders for these products from retailer Shopify store to app, and send these orders onto our Shopify store for fulfillment 
• Allow order and product management within app 
• Calculate billing charges for order volume and subscriptions and bill the user appropriately 
• List app on the Shopify app store

Project management is very prompt and effective. They are in India so things can sometimes take a day or two to resolve, but with a large project like mine that did not have a firm deadline this was not a huge deal. Needs are always addressed professionally and effectively.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

There were a few things that stood out for me about CrowdBotics: 

1. They're very aligned with my goals and understand what I'm looking to build and why.
2. The team quoted me at a much cheaper rate than other agencies did for my specific application. 
3. When the project started I was assigned a huge team to work on my application. Most other agencies likely would have only had one or two team members assigned to my project.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Crowdbotics could have done differently?

The feedback I have for CrowdBotics is not focused on the deliverable they have provided for my app, but more so on communication and possibly pressure on the team to deliver on a certain timeline. I can sometimes tell that the team seems overworked, and it seems like there is a lot of pressure on them to take on a large workload. This is sometimes apparent when discussing additional work that needs to be done on my app to deliver my MVP.

I’m the founder and CEO of Blue Door REI, a real estate company. I was also part of a women’s real estate investors network that looked at off-markets with state properties to work with. We helped distressed sellers by purchasing their property at a discounted price and then wholesaling it to a third party, flipping it, or renting it out as a new landlord.

One of the challenges I recognized amongst the real estate network group was the difficulty in connecting with the people someone might need to do their deal.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Crowdbotics has designed the mobile application like a dating app. The app brings together the wholesaler, buyer, and money lender. Users can make their profile, describe what interests them or who they want to connect with, and put their deals out there. For example, people can filter for an end buyer, the zip codes that they’re interested in being an end buyer in, or the types of properties they’re interested in. On the other hand, the financial person can put the terms they’d lend money at, the amount of money they can loan, and so on. That way, users can quickly connect with people from other parties who can fit their needs. Sometimes people can fill multiple roles, so they might have the financial capacity to be a money lender or do their own fixes and flips, so the process can be multifaceted.

I started working with Crowdbotics in March 2022, and we’re still putting the project together. We’re almost ready to publish; they’re just waiting on me on a couple of things I need to get to them.

Project management has been good; I have no complaints. I’ve probably been the more frustrating party in the relationship. I get weekly updates and a recap of their activities at the end of the week. Overall, the communication has been excellent.

I’m the owner and founder of a media company. We shoot music videos for artists and help market and promote them.

We wanted to build an elevator pitch-style music app for up-and-coming artists who want to build their fanbases using technology. We already have a website, so we just needed a company that could build an app to go with the site.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired Crowdbotics to build a music app for iOS and Android. The app functions like SoundCloud and Tinder combined together. Users could swipe right if they like a certain song and swipe left if they don’t. Artists get a rating based on how many right swipes they get compared to left swipes. It’s a great way for new artists to get feedback on their work and for more established artists to let the public preview 30 seconds of some new music that’s not yet been released.

The app is almost complete — they’re currently implementing some additional features that I wanted to add before we release it. Crowdbotics is also going to help me with PR when it’s time to launch the app.

Crowdbotics delivers on time, every time, and often under timelines that other firms balked at. They have never missed a deadline and always kept the work moving forward. Crowdbotics responds to my needs swiftly and with the utmost professionalism. They've helped me understand technical problems that are out of my grasp, yet always empowered me to feel like an expert.

They generally respond within hours to any inquiry and know how to elevate and execute time-sensitive projects. I always feel prioritized and respected by Crowdbotics, and feel that they take a sincere interest in the projects they take on.

Crowdbotic's technical abilities are nothing short of impressive. I have not worked with many development firms that can replicate my designs, but Crowdbotics didn't even flinch when showing them my novel designs. The company's pricing structure is also incredible. I've saved so much money wtih them over the years, and they've never shorted me.

They provide an extraordinary value for a fraction of what other firms charge. They also relentlessly hit their deadlines. They don't ever miss on that front. The punctuality, pricing, and precision of Crowdbotics is second to none.

I've had the privilege of working wtih Crowdbotics for over four years across various projects. At this point, nothing I can think of that warrants improvement. They are partners in the work my firm does and integral to what we do now.

Crowdbotics has designed and developed our MVP’s iOS and Android applications. We first talked with Crowdbotics’ sales team representatives, who walked us through their software design process. They created the product requirements document with the app’s details, and after this, Crowdbotics started the design process. 

Crowdbotics has used Figma for UI/UX design. We provided them with our Figma sketches and user personas, and Crowdbotics created the app’s design based on that. For the app’s development, Crowdbotics has used C++ and React Native. They’ll also provide hosting and maintenance services. 

Our app is a service information platform for local businesses. Users can log in based on their location and consult businesses near them. The app has a listing and a map format. On the other hand, businesses can manage their profile information.

We’ve worked with 5–6 teammates from Crowdbotics, including a designer, different project managers, 1–2 developers, and a customer success manager. Crowdbotics’ project managers have been our main point of contact.

How did you come to work with Crowdbotics?

We researched several software development vendors. When we met Crowdbotics, they were a young company, so we had limited information about them. We decided to pursue our options with Crowdbotics.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around $28,000 with Crowdbotics.

We started working with Crowdbotics in July 2020, and our partnership is ongoing.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

Crowdbotics’ quality of work isn’t good, and we’re really underwhelmed by this. Initially, Crowdbotics told us the project would take 2–3 months to complete; however, we’re now 19 months into our relationship. We’re experiencing a considerable delay that has been painful on our end. 

This engagement has cost our business greatly. Crowdbotics’ target clients are startups, and going from a three-month window to an almost two-year project — it’s a big difference. Aside from the difficulty of keeping the company afloat, we’ve also lost investment opportunities because of this delay. 

We’ve failed agreements with potential investors because we've been unable to meet the promised timelines. We’ve made compromises based on the delivery dates Crowdbotics has given us, but they don’t meet the agreements. 

How was project management handled?

We realized things were going downhill about four months into our relationship with Crowdbotics. The project manager that was first assigned to us gave us false reports about the project’s progress and didn’t deliver the work they were supposed to do. 

When we talked to Crowdbotics’ customer success manager about this situation, they assigned us another project manager. However, they were new and not good at the position. We worked with the second project manager for 8–9 months and didn’t progress either. Crowdbotics assigned us a last project manager in the fall of 2022, and things have improved. However, it doesn’t change the fact that we’ve already lost so much time. 

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

Looking back, the only thing I commend Crowdbotics for is the app’s design. The design process took 2–3 weeks and was easygoing. Crowdbotics' final designs were in the realm of what we expected. 

This has been the only part of the process where Crowdbotics has met the promised delivery date.

In what specific areas can they improve?

Crowdbotics seems to have little control over their development team and internal communication.  Crowdbotics tries to offer app development services for a competitive price by hiring developers from different countries. However, that has led to some developers not caring about the project and not putting in the required work. Crowdbotics’ development team is really weak.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Crowdbotics’ target clients are startups, but being honest, I wish for startups to avoid working with Crowdbotics and explore other options. They were a young company when we met them, and I wish I had seen a review like this so I could’ve been more cautious.

I hired Crowdbotics to develop a communications mobile app to help students engage better with teachers in remote or online learning environments. It started with an idea that led to a discussion which led to me diving all in and Crowdbotics taking the idea to reality.

My initial search for mobile app developers led me to Crowdbotics. But after more searching, I found a number of other competitors that seemed to offer a better deal (lower to no cost, and the option to build my own app).

After fumbling around for months and not getting anywhere with any of the "build-it-yourself" mobile app platforms, I cam back to Crowdbotics. Yeah, it cost a bit more per month but in the end, it's been worth it. They got my app created and up and running in very short time and they've been nothing but awesome to work with!

From the beginning, they were with me every step of the way. Our kickoff meeting set the tone for each project meeting that followed: professional, organized, and milestone driven. We went over my goals and they helped spell out the details as to how we would get there. Once we had established the end product and what that would look like, they worked through an entire breakdown of every piece and part that would be required to complete the scope of the project.

They communicated with me several times per week, coming to me with questions, clarifications, or suggestions. We met every other week or so for updates, live demonstrations and feedback. Milestones were measured and they kept the ball rolling to ensure we met them. We didn't hit all the projected dates and milestones but I have to admit, it was on me as I was not always able to respond as quickly as they did—which was a good thing. They kept up the pace.

How many resources from the Crowdbotics team worked with you, and what were their positions?

I was assigned a project manager who was relentless in her follow ups and yet completely responsible and trustworthy to manage the project from one step to the next without requiring constant check ups—she typically checked in with me before I ever had the chance to check in with her.

She worked with several developers who supported her, whom I met and worked with from time to time to resolve concerns, make updates or fix bugs. In this way, the project manager was involved but didn't become a bottleneck to slow the process, giving her developers immediate access to me if needed, but never overused.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

From the kickoff to finished app, it took 3-4 months, although admittedly, it probably would've taken less time had I not slowed things down. I had requested various changes towards the end and they were gracious enough to implement them and turn it around fairly quickly, despite some of the changes requiring a significant amount of time.

They use Slack, email and their own in-house platform to communicate and review progress. Their process is fairly streamlined and made to fit within your platforms and comfort level.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The most impressive part of working with Crowdbotics was how quickly they were able to develop the app and turn it around into a full-fledged mobile app, ready for the App Store. I was a bit hesitant at first to believe their claims but after having gone through the process, they really do deliver quality work in record time.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

At one point, communication could have been better, which may have eliminated some misunderstandings but we worked through it and quickly got back on track.

I’m the founder and CEO of Showcasing, a client management software for freelancers. I founded the company a year and a half ago.

I was looking for a partner to be able to help build a web application MVP from my concept.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Crowdbotics developed our web app. We had an initial consultation call with Crowdbotics where I explained the features, needs, and expectations that I want, as well as the timeframe and cost of the project. I wrote up the scope and built all the wireframes so that Crowdbotics had a good understanding of what I wanted my MVP to look like.

We ended up with 10 screens and I asked them to allocate more hours on certain parts and less on the others.

Crowdbotics has pre-built features that they sell for a monthly fee which helped save costs on our initial build. It took about three months to get to the testing stage of all the different things that they have built. The MVP they built had four features and eight screens that were designed with functionality.

What is the team composition?

I worked with the CEO who did the consultation and a sales representative who did the quoting and aligned prices with what I wanted and needed. I also worked with a project manager who managed the day to day operations with the front- and backend developers.

How did you come to work with Crowdbotics?

I had a friend who mentioned to me that he had looked at Crowdbotics to build one of his app ideas and ended up not doing it, but I then looked at Crowdbotics’ website and I thought it was intriguing.

I worked with Crowdbotics from July 2019–August 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I never had any complaints coming from the users of the app and that shows the quality of work that Crowdbotics have done. I’ve worked a lot with tech and there’s definitely always a lot of complaints about tech products, but I didn’t really experience that.

How did Crowdbotics perform from a project management standpoint?

There was daily communication where the business manager has brought in the front- and backend developer and depending on who did work on that period. It was nice to see the product grow on a daily basis with full transparency on how it was done. They all do the work and the next time we meet, we have things to discuss regarding the project.

I really enjoyed the daily scrums, the feedback, the roles, and the tasks involved in the project. We organized the project through Slack and Google Meet. Crowdbotics was very organized. They make it easy for anyone to understand what are the limitations and expectations. They do a very good job of letting us know the expectations and necessities to be able to get the job done within schedule.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I really like how they went about the project, it was cost-efficient compared to having to use a development firm in Europe or America. It felt like Crowdbotics was a part of my company. The main reason I would recommend them was the way they communicated and the partnership they provided.

I was impressed that Crowdbotics allocated extra hours to execute the ideas that we had. They provided amazing results at such low costs. With other providers, they’ll just offer you one person to work with and you’ll need to hire more people, but in Crowdbotics’ case, you’re getting the whole team at a lesser cost compared to other companies.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Crowdbotics billing structure involves both a monthly rate and an hourly rate, which isn't always feasible. They should offer something for an extra development build to be created in a certain number of hours as a new scope instead of billing it an hourly rate as this could get expensive.

I also think Crowdbotics should have more packages for building out a new feature instead of just small fixes that should be built.

My advice is to write a very clear scope of what you want and have the designs ready without functionality, that will save you half the cost.
