Crawl Magic Solutions were hired to create scraping tools to be used to scrape events off major websites using Python.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We found them originally from a 3rd party hiring website, and selected them as they had experience in Python and specifically scraping experience. We gave them a small test project to work on and they were successful, so then we gave them a bigger project to work on.

We had a Requirement Gathering meeting that allowed the team to understand the issues we want to solve. The team came back up with a simple script to show some data as a proof-of-concept, and then after few back-and-forth on specific details, the team started creating our tools. Python was the scripting language used.

There were 2 people that worked with us. Vishal, the owner, being the head is the point of contact for us.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The scraping tool they developed for us has reduced our manual search for events by many folds. It decreased the amount of time it takes us from hours of search and copy/pasting to minutes!

We communciated through Skype. Language was clear and information communicated back and forth was understood by both parties. No communication issues that I can think of. We had many voice calls over skype. They even got on calls with us to help us set up the tools on our system as it needed special troubleshooting which we did not know how to do. They spent the time to figure out things, allowing us to use the tools as intended.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team is great to work with. They knew what they were doing, and they were experts in Python and scraping. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to do similar tasks.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

While their work and quality are great, they can improve on being able to communicate more frequently. Although now they're a bigger team, I expect this to not be an issue anymore.

I engaged them for an automation and data scraping project, where the task was to scrape data from one website and post it on my own. The entire process was a nightmare from the start. Firstly, they took an inordinate 3 to 4 days just for a simple feasibility check—an unnecessarily slow turnaround time.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with CrawlMagic Solutions and would strongly advise others to avoid this company. Despite providing them with backend admin access to my website, the project outcomes were far from what was promised or expected. The issues didn't end there; their faulty code caused my website to crash. When I asked them to resolve these issues, they outright refused to take any responsibility.

I eventually requested a refund due to their failure to deliver and the subsequent damage caused to my website. Not only did they refuse to return my money, but they also blocked me on all communication channels. This company operates in a highly unprofessional manner and their behavior was nothing short of a scam.

Throughout the entire process, I remained humble and kind, only to be met with misbehavior and negligence from their side. Beware of CrawlMagic Solutions; they are not trustworthy and do not stand by their commitments.
