• We engaged ATComputers to transition the MINERVA Platform—our in-house web service for hosting and visualizing disease maps—from raster to vector-based rendering technology.
• Enhance the interactivity and performance of disease map visualization.
• Improve user experience for researchers working with multi-scale diagrams.
• Ensure seamless integration with our existing architecture (Java, TypeScript/React, SQL).

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

ATComputers developed and integrated a vectorised rendering engine for MINERVA’s frontend.
Key deliverables included:

• Implementation of a canvas-based vector rendering module in React + TypeScript.
• Integration with the existing backend API for dynamic content loading.
• Optimization for multi-user performance and future WebSocket-based collaboration.
• Deployment documentation, code delivery to LCSB GitLab repository, and assistance with testing on LCSB infrastructure.

All development was conducted in line with our internal QA, reporting, and bi-weekly review processes.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The upgraded platform achieved noticeably faster rendering of large disease diagrams, providing smoother zoom and navigation.

It also improved the overall interactivity between molecular elements and contextual data.

The new system supports a wide range of disease maps and provides a modern, scalable architecture ready for future extensions.

Follow-up user reviews showed high satisfaction with the new interface.
