We started with CD with an outdated WordPress site that was on the verge of dumping. It was very redundant, overloaded with large images and mismatched information, and too many drop-down menus and pages. Very cumbersome for every user.

Our website is up and running beautifully, much more user-friendly, faster loading, and updated.

Colorado Digital was very responsive; we had changes and as with all projects, had downtimes when it was put aside internally for other projects. CD waited for us to get back to them and started with our project again.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially hired them to help us completely rebuild our website. They helped us rework our website so we could deliver content and tools in a more effective manner. They built the new website from scratch and helped us implement tools that help us cater to different users such as an online assessment tool. They used .NET to build the website. 

Their team provided design work included page layout, UI design, and selecting a theme. 

They also built a white label marketing content system for our customers. The system allows us to distribute content to subscribers on our customers’ behalf.

They built solutions that have supported more than a thousand users. Anecdotally, we were happy with their work. They were extremely responsive, quality-oriented, thoughtful, and creative.

They’ve performed well. I’ve been able to watch their project management evolve over the course of our relationship. Their project management has become more formalized and agile. They have a system that is designed to prevent errors and bugs, which I really appreciate.

They’re very responsive to the needs of their clients; they don’t push their own agenda. They continue to build their internal expertise, and they’ve stayed ahead of other B2B providers of their size.

No. As long as the client speaks up, Denverdata Web will address it. They’re very receptive to feedback.

Spend more time in the planning stage, it always ends up working out better when you do so.

I’m one of three partners at ArcWest Architects, a small architectural firm that was established in 2006. We focus primarily on commercial and residential projects with a small number of industrial projects.

In today’s world, web presence is paramount. It’s the top way to be found and contacted. Some companies might survive without a web presence, but I’m not sure how.

Our previous webpage wasn’t optimized for Google. We talked with Denverdata Web about building us a new site.

What was the scope of their involvement?

When Denverdata Web came aboard, they educated us about our previous site. The best approach was to design a new WordPress website because the older platform wasn’t fixable. We provided them with a majority of the content. They provided us a structure to transfer older content and add new content as well. Their team also reviewed our content, tweaking it to make it more web-accessible.

Primarily, the website serves as a platform to court prospective clients. We had to be clear and real about what we wanted. They worked to make the site load quicker and streamlined for our users.

We’ve worked with a number over the years, but Tom (President and Senior Consultant) has been our key representative.

We’ve worked with them for so long. I can’t remember if we found them or they approached us. It may have been a referral.

We’ve been working with them for almost ten years. Our engagement with Denverdata Web began in 2012.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Web design is similar to an architectural project. I always joke that we’re not too far different in terms of what we do. Currently, we manage the content, but their team maintains the database, updates, and security protocols. They also provide testing services periodically.

We’re not looking into specific data and reports right now. But I see within a week three to five inquiries from people that found us on the web. The website looks good. At this point, it’s a few years old, so we might do another remodel. It does function pretty well.

How did Denverdata Web perform from a project management standpoint?

Denverdata Web was sensitive to our timeline when designing the website. Tom and his team have always been responsive and available. They’re open to new ideas.

Since most of their work now involves maintenance, they’re doing a fine job with that. They’re very proactive. Once, we had an issue with spam coming through our inquiries. Their team set up a CAPTCHA protected system to prevent that from happening. We still get some, but it’s been reduced quite a bit.

We’ve recently had a few Zoom meetings to help us all adapt to this new remote-working world.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s tough to pick one thing, but their professional manner stands out. They’re great listeners that are always available.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of any areas of improvement.

Do your homework first. Have a vision for what you’re seeking. I know in the world of architecture that makes it a lot easier for us. Utilize their skills to get the most out of their service.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They started out by examining our existing website, and we ended up deciding to scrap what we had and build an entirely new site. It was a mainly informational WordPress site so that people could find out about what we do and get our contact information.

Their team also helped us to develop our email newsletters, which we had established but were in their infancy at the time we started working with Denverdata. They helped us to build out their scope and make them look a lot better to help us monetize the content.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Generally speaking, the work was very good. They were always and responsive and seemed to have a very in-depth technical knowledge about our various requirements. However, our goal was to generate revenue which we were not able to accomplish. Another element of the newsletter was to gain exposure for the company, and they have been pretty successful in that regard.

They know what they’re doing and do a good job of keeping the project on track so that you stick to all deadlines and budgets for the work. The whole team is responsive and business-like, which really gives you confidence in their ability to get the job done.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What we were trying to do was not simple. It involved a variety of payment plans and a number of different newsletters, as well as various offers and discounts and things. Despite the complexity, they helped us to navigate our requirements very successfully. I think they know WordPress really well and are able to deliver a lot on that platform.

No, I don’t have anything in particular that I think they need to improve.

Several years ago, we knew we had to be in the front when it came to SEO work. We needed to bring our website up to speed. We hired Denverdata Web to make our site respond to our target customers. We also wanted to be easy to find and user-friendly.

What was the scope of their involvement?

With our website, they reduced some of the file sizes to benefit page load time. They arranged our contacts and implemented keywords within the site to target people searching for our products.

We worked collaboratively to make content. I gave them the keywords, and their team focused on making them user-friendly through writing. With the writings I did supply them, they made sure the keywords were arranged appropriately. They also added CTAs to our webpages as well.

I’m comfortable with Denverdata Web. Over the years, we’ve fine-tuned certain areas, which has allowed us to be successful in getting the results we wanted. They managed the keywords in a way that captures our target audience. We’ve received contact through email and the website.

With everything going on with COVID-19, I thought it’d be a good time to update parts of the website. I know that what Denverdata Web does works.

How did Denverdata Web perform from a project management standpoint?

From a project management standpoint, they’re excellent. We used to meet monthly, but now that’s changed to three months. In those meetings, they ask questions and discuss what they’re working on. If they need more direction, we communicate through email or phone calls. We’re always in communication about objectives and results.

They’ve always been extremely responsive. If I have a question or a change I want to make, they’ll let me know what they can do. The bottom line is, we get results with Denverdata Web.

They’re frequently improving areas for our business.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Denverdata Web has been working on our marketing and web presence. We completely redesigned the website, migrating it from an older platform onto Drupal. They’ve made both the desktop and mobile versions much more efficient and user-friendly. When ESPEC North America acquired Qualmark, Denverdata Web updated the website content and made the two brands into one cohesive unit. They even made sure our platforms were GDPR compliant.

Along with web development, they’ve also done a tremendous amount of SEO to increase and maintain our visibility. I’ve worked with them to design and implement strategies across our social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. All of them circle back and drive traffic to our website.

We work together closely to develop a robust SEO and web strategy, resulting in high rankings for 90% of the targeted keywords and areas we’re interested in; we’re consistently ranked one and two. Our web traffic has increased, and Denverdata Web is helping us maintain a leading web presence in our industry.

The new website is customer-friendly and easy to navigate, quickly and efficiently directing users to pertinent information. They’ve helped us build a finely-tuned and well-built digital marketing platform and strategy.

How did Denverdata Web perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a monthly update as well as weekly meetings to discuss goals and develop strategies. When we were building the site, we talked multiple times a day, depending on the phase of development.

Denverdata Web is proactive in communicating, laying out content strategy and fleshing it out from there. They consistently follow up on projects, making sure we’re meeting deadlines even when I’m too busy to remember. They manage projects exceptionally well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They care about and understand both our company goals and how we want to interact with our customers. They took the time to get to know the different components of our business so that they could translate that into a digital strategy that supports our goals. They have the skills, expertise, and background to harness all their knowledge and effectively apply it to our business.

A few positions have had a high turnover rate, which means we’ve had to be in contact with a new person repeatedly. We’d appreciate a little more consistency on that front.

Have a face-to-face conversation with them about goals, objectives, and the business model. Help them understand all expectations, and they’ll do their best to accommodate.

What challenge were you trying to address with Denverdata Web?

We experienced a crisis when the person running our more complex business systems left the company. We hired Denverdata Web to provide stopgap maintenance services. Once we regained stability, we contracted with them for several WordPress development projects.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’re not the most technical team, so we first needed Denverdata Web to explain to us how our Drupal 6 system was constructed and why that was the case. They met with our director of IT and our customer experience team to determine our problematic areas, and we outlined our immediate and long-term challenges. After steadying our Drupal 6 system, we formed a more strategic relationship.

We still run the Drupal 6 site, but Denverdata Web has since migrated much of our operations to a handful of WordPress sites for specific applications and integrated them with Salesforce. Further, we provided them with design specifications for a news site, which we wanted to be secure and usable for multicultural audiences.

Our migration from Drupal 6 to WordPress has been as smooth as we could have hoped for. Our systems are far more manageable, and we owe that to Denverdata Web.

They’re relatively local, but we operate within Jira quite often. We receive very thorough recaps of our progress, which makes it easier to communicate with leadership.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are a serious team, but they have the people skills necessary to patiently explain complex technology to us. We never find them condescending. They take the time to make sure we understand every step.

Are there any areas they could improve?

This is very minor, but they seem to have either a loud office space or poor audio equipment, which makes it difficult at times to communicate on conference calls.

Be as clear as you can about your requirements. It will make the experience that much easier for both parties.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I have a longstanding relationship with them, and don’t hesitate to call on them whenever I have a situation that requires their expertise. I am not so much a customer of theirs, but more of a collaborator. I connect them to my clients and projects that involve database or programming issues. They are my go-to firm for in-depth search engine optimization and search engine marketing.

They have assisted with two large projects recently. The first was for a customer with a large volume of reviews and articles for the real estate industry in Denver. Their content was locked into a proprietary content management software that was losing functionality. Through an arduous process, they got the data up and running again.

The second customer they’ve assisted with was another local company on the national and global market. They wanted to optimize their website and capabilities for that broader audience.

We started working together in November 2003, and our partnership is ongoing.

I have them on my side if ever I need them. They do a great job with complicated scenarios that involve skills I don’t have. All the customers I refer to them seem pleased with their work.

They do very well. Our relationship with Tom goes way back, and is personal, but they’re very professional and deserve high marks. Most of our professional interaction is by phone or email.

Their technical expertise in programing, coding, and database work is strong. I am confident in their ability to handle any technical aspects, and know when I can call upon them to help my customers.

Their answering service can be a little irritating when I use it. I have a direct line to Tom, as may some of their established customers, so this may not be much of an improvement to make.
