Summary:

To develop and deliver the above key deliverables, bug-free software, and mobile apps.  Detailed Jira stories, UX Designs & assets were provided to deliver the project.  

The project aims to develop and deliver a high-performance-responsive moibile app for passengers to book a cab and driver agents to receive notifications and accept/decline ride requests.  The mobile app consists of a number of key features to be delivered as per the timeline agreed upon on a sprint-by-sprint basis.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The measurable items are as per the agreed deliverable per sprint basis during the sprint planning which needs to be delivered in 2 weeks sprint time frame.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

The 1st two-week sprint continued for nearly 4 months from the start to abandoning the project.  The team responded to the need as and when they understood the requirement in a very slow phase which is not fit for purchase for a sprint-based project.

In terms of project management, the project was not managed properly. The sprint kept going over months and months, and virtually no one seemed to have control over it. The company also claims they put many resources into managing and executing, but ultimately, they failed to deliver a sprint worth of goals. What should I say for Phase 1 of the project?

When I formally requested a refund of the initial deposit, which is close to $4K+, the company's CEO never responded, not even once. He silenced the whole team by not responding to any of my queries. Technically, they're a weak company because they don't take accountability and responsibility for their shortcomings.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Unique about this company is that they have good salespeople who fish the project bidding quite clearly, i.e., showing false hopes. Even though I have 30 years of IT software development(hands-on) experience, they initially engage moderately good technical people, and then they move them to another project and engage less knowledgeable developers.

When the cards start to fall off, they disappear pretty much as any other less talented software company in the market.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Colan Infotech Private Limited could have done differently?

They need to recruit talented engineers to deliver bug-free code with quality in mind but not quantity only approach.

I’m the CTO of Facedrive. It is an environmentally focused rideshare company in Canada.

We needed maintenance and bug fixes for our mobile applications.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Colan Infotech provides maintenance of our two mobile applications, one for drivers and one for riders. This includes development work. The apps are built for iOS and Android. They also manage any bug fixes.

What is the team composition?

We worked with three developers, two QA people, and a project manager.

How did you come to work with Colan Infotech?

They were already working with the company when I started working here. My manager had worked with them at a previous brand and liked their work and their reliability to do what they promise.

How much have you invested with them?

We have invested $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together around January 2018, and it’s ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They were quite helpful for us regarding downloads. Our users tripled, and in 2019, downloads and users increased tenfold. We are quite satisfied with their work.

How did Colan Infotech perform from a project management standpoint?

They were always available when we needed to communicate with them. Our teams used Jira and Trello to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We appreciate that Colan Infotech is friendly and always available.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their communication skills could improve a little bit.

For anyone working on a low budget, it’s a good opportunity. I definitely recommend them for any software project.
