The project involves Cogito providing annotators trained on specific sports who are then presented with detections made by our system of individual frames within videos. The annotators are asked to do one of two things:

1) Where our Visual-AI cannot determine the brand and/or placement (the object the brands were detected on), they then annotate these frames with the respective values. 

2) For the data where our Visual-AI makes a detection, we present a representative sample of the data and ask the Cogito team to either confirm that the detected brands and placements are correct or to fix any errors in those detections.

This combined data is then used to improve our model's detection rate and accuracy for future videos we process.

Additionally, the team provides data tagging services for elements which cannot be tagged using AI.

Axiom Bio has a database of >11 million cell painting images, and has identified >20 features of cellbiology that are early markers of heptocyte injury. We need to train U-Net models to segment all of these features, using semantic masks highlighting cellular objectis and rejections of interest, such as the nuclei, cytosol, vacuoles, and mitochondria. Therefore, we needed ~200 excellent high-quality ground truth images labeled x 20 unique features = >4k images labeled. Each image could contain hundreds of obejcts, taking hours to annotate.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were able to train U-Net segmntation models for all key cell features, eachiving high IOU (ex. 0.90 for cytosol and 0.84 for nuclei). Based on the clel features, we were able to build and deploy 4 new unique surrogate phenotypic assays for cell stress in <4 months.

Cogito primarilly commincated via a Slack channel, which was our preferred method - they really "speak our language" as a small SF tech startup! Kumar and Rakesh checked in daily regarding project progress, which was much appreciated. As a startup, we need to move fast, and they constiently rose ot the occasion delivering us data to meet deadlines. They are willing to dive into work with minimal documentation, enabling us to iterate fast and avoid bureaucratic bloat we have encountered with other vendors. Finally, all feedback was rapidly incorporated - they really "groked" cell paiitng images, and quickly became expert at each task!
