At Staffhub, we offer outsourced marketing services to startups and small businesses all around the globe across different verticals. Our wide range of marketing solutions includes digital media, design, lead generation, and communications requirements. And I am an IT solutions manager who is usually involved in a project from inception to completion.

One of our clients had decided to upgrade their call management software to streamline their support system. So we hired Codoid Innovations for performing both manual & automation testing.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We had shortlisted a list of QA companies from our initial search and decided to try Codoid after going through one of their case studies. Initially, we were impressed with their quick responses focused on identifying our needs clearly. Their competitive pricing and PoC were also deciding factors that made us confident to take the decision.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

After the initial call where we discussed the scope of the project, they developed a PoC with one of the tricky features in the application that had to be automated. Once the project started, the senior QA person from our client’s side shared the test cases and test plans with Codoid’s team. With the given plan, they started performing manual tests on the application until a stable version was developed.

In parallel, automation scripts were also written to test the stable version once it was ready. They developed two automation test suites to perform automated smoke and regression testing. All their testing was done on multiple environments to ensure maximum quality. Their reporting strategy involved making it easy to keep track of all the testing that was performed. Everybody on the team found it easy to read and understand the objectives and results of the tests. They even set up a CI/CD process that enabled our clients to trigger the automation test suites when needed.

Our client had an in-house senior QA who coordinated with 4 testers from Codoid. Out of the 4 resources, 3 were automation testers and 1 was a manual tester.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our client was able to upgrade their application as per the schedule and has been continuously adding new features without any issues primarily due to the automated regression and smoke test suites developed by Codoid.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The client followed Agile methodology for their development process. And we can say that Codoid’s team members worked well with our client’s in-house Senior QA to carry out the testing as expected in every sprint.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

As the application was being upgraded, there were constant code changes that caused a lot of issues when it came to automation testing. But their automation testers were able to overcome these challenges and keep up in every sprint.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not really, we found their services to be satisfactory on all levels.

Workflow with codoid team was very smooth and clean to the core, where we communicate regarding most complex test cases and the possible ways to execute them without errors and our frequent mode of communication with the team is mostly via microsoft teams & google meet everyday.

Codoid was involved in consulting, design of the new AI tool. After 3 weeks of brainstorming, initial design was finalised. Codoid helped in coming up with design documention. Next, team helped in coming up with the wireframe for UI. On approval of design and wireframe, development was started with 2 python developers and one UIdeveloper and a senior tech lead to oversee progress. First beta delivery was delivered in Aug.

The scope of work was to use automation to test our website’s functionality and performance testing to ensure a great user experience. Since manual testing was time-consuming, we wanted to achieve maximum test coverage through automation. And Codoid was able to achieve high levels of test coverage by automating numerous actions and flows such as login, order placement including the payment process, product reviews, and so on. 

Since our website had a wide range of products from consumables to high-end equipment, our user base was also very diverse. So Codoid used real mobile devices and computers to test our website in different browsers. With the help of parallel testing, they were also able to complete all the tests on a large number of device and browser combinations within a short span of time. 

Their reporting was also spot on as they would send consolidated reports that included information on the different tests that were run on every device combination along with its execution status.

Their project management plan was perfect, as they were always self-organized and needed little to no supervision. They even assigned an additional Spoc who was in constant touch with us to ensure that we were happy with their services. They were also never late with their deliverables and completed their work before the end of every sprint.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I would say that we were genuinely impressed with the number of device and browser combinations they were able to test our website on as it was one of the biggest concerns that we wanted to address.

Not anything in particular except for a couple of communication hiccups that we had during the initial stages of the project.

Once we had decided to partner with Codoid, we first interacted with their QA architect to design a conclusive test strategy that covered all our focus points. It required a lot of thought and effort as our solution had to be used by different users such as agents, admins, approvers, and users. Additionally, the sign-up process for users varied based on various factors such as age, pre-existing conditions, and so on.

As our internal QA team handled all the manual testing requirements, their team started writing automation scripts for all the sprint items which were developed in the previous sprint. They then developed automation test suites for each of the defined user roles and set up a CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins to run test suites without their dependency.

They even conducted KT sessions to equip our internal QA team with the required knowledge to maintain the automation scripts as well. Throughout the project, they followed a truly autonomous reporting method that would automatically update the bugs that were found to JIRA, the bug management tool that we used.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

• We were able to deploy our custom CRM solution on time and complete our digitization process without any issues. As a result, we saw an overall rise in user satisfaction levels as we were able to process the claims at a much faster rate.

We always implement Agile methodology in all our projects and this was no different. Codoid’s team was quickly able to work hand in hand with our internal QA team to complete all the testing requirements on time. Though their weekly off days were different from what we follow in our calendar, they adapted well to keep up with our schedule. Codoid team was very helpful in addressing our problems and respond to our needs in quick pace

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were really impressed with the robust nature of their automation test suites. There were hardly any flaky tests, and we were always confident with the tests that were run and the results that we got. This coupled with their great reporting made it very easy for us to identify the scopes for improvement.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Codoid-Software Testing Company could have done differently?

We would have loved it if they had automated the testing of our chat, call, and mailing processes as well.
