Biouth is a company that buys and sells clothes that have been produced in a sustainable way. Our products are made out of sustainable materials like organic cotton and hemp. I’m the co-founder of this company, and I started it together with a good friend as a side project, until we finally decided to get a little more serious.

What challenge were you trying to address with CODETAIN?

My partner and I both work full-time jobs so we don’t always have the time we need to invest in the company — we also don't have the know-how to make sure the architecture and everything is set up correctly. We needed CODETAIN for their technical assistance in DevOps, site maintenance, system updates, shop development, security patches, and front- and backend development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

CODETAIN mainly focuses on the development and maintenance of our e-commerce website. It was created using a ready-to-use software that comes with limited functionality — they adjust it freely by adding codes. Additionally, they provide us with front- and backend development, server configurations, DHP, site hosting, and setting up different email accounts among other things.

What is the team composition?

We deal mostly with Daniel (CEO) and Artur (Senior PHP Developer).

How did you come to work with CODETAIN?

My partner found them online. I wasn’t familiar with CODETAIN before, but he introduced them through a Skype call and we just hit it off from there.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested somewhere between $40,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The ongoing partnership started in April 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I think the quality of their work is great. I don’t think we would deepen or intensify our partnership if we weren’t satisfied. CODETAIN is always on point, quick to respond, and they’re very creative when it comes to finding solutions. If I knew someone else who was trying to set up a website or an online presence, I would definitely recommend CODETAIN.

How did CODETAIN perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team always works to our full satisfaction. I’ve worked with different agencies on different projects and there are usually pain points, but so far, I have no problems or issues working with CODETAIN. We mostly communicate through email or Slack, and they work with Jira to manage the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with their creativity and how they never shy away from challenges. If there are any topics or challenges that are hard to deal with, they pull up their sleeves, get very creative, and get down to it. We like their mindset and attitude, and how they’re very motivated and goal-oriented.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could add more shop systems. I know they’re great with Magento and Shopware among a few others, but I think they could add maybe 1–2 more popular shop systems.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would say be open, honest, and don’t beat around the bush. Be straight to the point and say exactly what you need.

One of the projects was designing and implementing integration with an external provider. Other to support the client's team within the new product development, the product was pretty innovative with great uncertainty. Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

It is not possible to share some measurable outcomes regarding our agreement with the client. The general feedback is that the client is satisfied. They are happy with the autonomy the team represents and the quality that delivers.

Since my role is to manage the project I find it priceless that I have direct day-to-day contact with the team. The communication is quick and transparent. If there is anything to adjust or change I can fully rely on them. Every blocker is analyzed within the team and we always could come up with scenarios that our client agreed on.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The transparent communication and positive attitude along with the rapid progress of the work I find very positive. The team always seek solutions and move blockers with the speed of light. Great sense of humour. Reliability. It is a real pleasure to work with them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Apparently no.
