ChromeQA Lab provides us with full-time developers on an hourly arrangement. We’ve scaled up and down as projects wax and wane, and they’ve provided us with full- and part-time QA resources. They also provide resources to our end customers and handle smaller tasks like design work or CSS and HTML development. 

On top of that, we use them for marketing and pay for the marketing resources directly to work on social media, Facebook, and LinkedIn marketing tasks. We’ve used their SEO, project management, and ad revenue expertise; they’ve assigned an HTML developer to work on marketing tasks for various customers. The team has also handled .NET development, SQL, and AWS.

We’ve worked with Shishir and had one resource who’s been with us for eight years. He’s a .NET lead developer. We’ve had various QA resources that have scaled up and down, as well as various web developers, including a .NET developer, an SEO expert, an HTML and CSS developer, and a designer.

ChromeQA Lab called me. Their initial offering was fantastic and had no risks. They gave us a programmer for a week to see if they could do the work. They also offered the ability to scale based on our needs. We needed .NET resources, and their sales pitch was good.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve increased our output so much. On the development side, we close about 20 issues or more major tasks a month. That’s been going on for many years now at a lower cost than just working on it by myself. For the price of a part-time programmer, they’ve been able to deliver like a major development house.

On the marketing side, we’ve had similar results. We’re able to deliver services like a huge company. We can give a medium-sized company the social media presence and customer contact they couldn’t do without a huge staff, thanks to ChromeQA Lab. 

How did ChromeQA Lab perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m the project manager, so I meet with them at night and the end customer during the day. They deliver a solid amount of work each day. We use monday.com on the marketing side, which is effective. On the development side, we use GitLab.

Shishir has been highly engaged with us the entire time. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve been impressive at scaling up or down, which has been truly helpful over the years. Right now, we’re on a minimal footing, but if the customer wants to add a retail portion of the site, we can add more QA and developers. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We tried to leverage some admin tasks, but it didn’t go great. They also said they didn’t do it, so it wasn’t great. The development and marketing sides have been good. The only real issue has been that someone has to translate the ideas into American concepts to express them offshore. To be fair, they do the work and deliver as long as you give them good guidance.

ChromeQA Lab provided us with excellent services to modernize our 20-year-old legacy system by migrating it to a microservices-based architecture, redesigning the user interface, and performing comprehensive manual and automated testing.

Initially, we shared the available documentation in Confluence, including installation guides, and provided a walkthrough of our complex system, which featured intricate functionalities and a large-scale database. ChromeQA Lab took the time to understand our system thoroughly before initiating the migration.

After the onboarding process, we granted them access to our Jira issue management system and test trail account. Their responsibilities included defining the project plan, setting up the test plan, creating test cases, and executing test scenarios. They meticulously assessed our software’s functionality and designed a new architecture framework tailored to our needs.

For automation testing, we selected Playwright with Java and .NET to develop a robust test framework. The equipment we sell requires annual maintenance. We were lacking a system that could keep a tab of all the equipment we sell, including invoicing, logistics, and financials.

We needed a company to help us develop a system to keep a tab of all these activities. We also wanted a system that would give notifications of the dates when the cameras will require calibration or service.

They developed an iOS and Android app for our customers to get updates on the product. They also developed a web-based app for our internal use. They did all the development from scratch.

They gave us a few options for a solution, and we chose this because it best suited us. We’re now in the second phase of developing the system.

We’re happy with the system. It’s produced positive results, and we are getting good revenue out of it.  Almost all our customers have the app installed. 

Now, we have internal records for all the costs, logistics, and financials. Customers are happy that they don’t have to keep track of it. With our system, they get a notification right away and they initiate the process.

When we started talking to them, we didn’t have any idea how we could develop this. They were patient with us and gave us many ideas. 

They are a professional team that knows what they’re doing—they met our time targets. We told them our budget, and they provided the best solution within the budget. Also, they follow-up on a regular basis even if we were lagging on giving them information.

They’re knowledgeable and skillful. Once we give them a job and time frame, they meet it, and the results are quite astonishing. 
We initially thought that it would take 6-9 months to get the first iteration, but we got it within four months.

We had no idea what our system would look like when we started. But, you should know exactly what you want. Know your requirements, and it will be easier for them to make it faster. You should give them as much knowledge about your business as you can.

We needed mobile app development services.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed our app for both iOS and Android, with some APIs as well. We’ve worked on different scenarios including storing data in the user devices and shifting to Amazon as part of the deployment. It was a structured process.

The mobile app is a sports widget where designers and corporates can post their own design, then the fans can participate in contests and use different icons including filters, emojis, and stickers.

Another project they worked on was for beauty centers in Saudi Arabia, developing a booking system and detailed quality processes. They rate the center itself and the users rate the aftersales services. That was the biggest project that we did with them.

They assigned eight to nine employees for each project including a designer, iOS developer, Android developer, backend developer, tester, graphic designer, and a project manager.

I found them at an exhibition in 2016. I went to their website and contacted some of their existing customers. We had a meeting and then negotiations until 2017. The contract was pretty official and it satisfied all of our requirements and regulations.

They did professional work that was satisfying for us. The value was monitored by a project manager from our side.

They used an agile approach and they worked in sprints. The project management approach fulfilled all requirements. They met the deadlines and were responsive at all times. We had them make some minor changes and they were more than willing to do so. They help us to correct some ideas in the requirements as well. We used Zoho and WhatsApp to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was concerned about how they would understand my project in Arabic. They’re proficient in English. We managed to do it in a better way than what I expected. We’re still developing the process of translating our project in a bilingual way. It was a little difficult in the beginning, but they're proficient at fixing issues quickly.

Meetings are an area that could be improved. Sometimes, when they called me, they had no clear voice. There was no standard meeting tool in place, one with good performance. I prefer to use Skype for Business.

I needed help with mobile app development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They're working on Android and iOS application development. It requires a lot of storage on the cloud and retrieving that content in a very timely manner when the user accesses their mobile.

We needed to make sure that every user has a good response time and a good UX regarding video content. They came up with an architecture with cloud storage and replicated it across various nodes around the world. That required good technical insight and was a relatively very low-cost feature.

I needed a utility on my mobile app where I could upload content as well as see the metrics I wanted to track of how many people have viewed the content from each part of the world. They developed this utility to help me monitor it 24/7. It was a very smart utility that helped me do what I wanted to achieve.

They put together a development team with a project manager who worked closely with me on the business side. They set up a complete testing team, with around 20 members in total.

How did you come to work with ChromeInfo Technologies?

They were referred to me. I provided a problem statement to about six vendors and asked for a white paper with suggestions. ChromeInfo recommended using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the cloud. Their solution put in business thinking behind the solution instead of just focusing on only the technical architecture. They had a series of questions for me even before they came out with the architecture in terms of what I wanted to achieve from a business perspective. I was impressed and decided to work with them.

Their high-quality product led to the acquisition of my startup. They’re willing to work all night to solve any problems.

The first metric was the number of bugs in the system. In general, they have only minor bugs in their code. They have good internal quality procedures and I was happy with that. The second metric was their on-time delivery; they generally give dates and then beat their own dates.

How did ChromeInfo Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They delivered the product on time—their response time is phenomenal. I put in a request and I get a response within 30–45 minutes, with a timeline by which they’d come back with a clear proposal. We use email and daily phone calls. We check on their delivery schedules and make sure the complex features are running on time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their client services team have very strong business acumen. They’ve developed more than 500 applications across various verticals, which has made them aware of business challenges and pitfalls. I’m most impressed that they don’t take your specifications at face value. They critically look at them and come back with some very difficult questions that make you rethink.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I looked at their internal dashboard and I thought it was complex for a customer to spend time on. It was more meant for their internal project manager. I recommend they make a simpler version of it available to the client.

ChromeInfo created our DiamondTome DTX app, which allows users to educate themselves on different skin conditions and their treatments. The DTX app shows how microdermabrasion and diamond exfoliation can alleviate many known dermatology ailments, including fine lines, acne, crepey skin, scars, and dark spots.

They designed eight different menus that cover all the major body parts and their most common conditions. The app also allows users to select their desired DiamondTome wand and instantly witness the results of a virtual treatment.

We worked with a project manager, a graphic designer, two developers, and a coordinator.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The app was completed on schedule and within our budget. ChromeInfo made revisions when necessary.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Refining our workflow and communication methods took some effort due to the time zone and cultural differences. The team is personable and friendly, and I would work with them again.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are amenable to making changes and stick to the budget.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Figuring out how to communicate with each other was a learning experience, but ChromeInfo did improve throughout the process. Also, I think if they’d defined the titles and responsibilities of their team members more clearly, the work would’ve been easier.

I needed to outsource the coding and development of an app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I came up with the idea to have a platform for store owners here in Jordan to advertise discounts, offers, and promotions, whether for services or goods.

The app is for both iOS and Android, built natively and in English and Arabic. ChromeInfo did the design work, and we just finished development .

I’m holding the project on site because I have enough support now with my company. Although the contract is already finished, they'll be back to assist me in launching the app.

What is the team dynamic?

They had a consistent team of about six. They had people who specialized in Android and who specialized in iOS. There were two for the design, and others who checked the app for any bugs.

How did you come to work with ChromeInfo?

I looked online for the best reviews of companies in India. I chose three to four and got different proposals from each. ChromeInfo was glad to provide me with a portfolio, and their fees and quality were above expectation. It only took them two weeks to understand the app.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August of this year until November. We finalized the app 17 days after the contract date. Though the contract is up, they're still going to help us, for free.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’m expecting to have the app launched when I have a low season in my work. But I won’t be able to do it myself in the app stores, as I'll need their experience. ChromeInfo is happy to do so.

How did ChromeInfo perform from a project management standpoint?

We used Zoho. They uploaded new builds of the app, new functions, and new suggestions from their side, and I replied to the comments. We also used email. For instant response, we had a WhatsApp group for the whole team. And even when their working time was finished, they would answer Skype calls.

The main coordinator for the project tried not to have anything overlap, especially in AdWords. Many changes took place throughout the lifecycle and development of the project. The coordinator provided the team with the latest updates from me and the developers, which were always updated internally with any of our requests. Once they delivered the completed task, they checked if I had any further issues. Even now, though the contract has ended, whatever I ask for, they’re always there to help.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s my first startup, and they covered everything for me and exceeded my expectations.

I had concerns about working with an outsourced company. But it was like they were here with me in Jordan. They always answered and responded instantly for anything I asked for. The work I do is demanding, and they were patient with me and stayed on top of any requested task. Their work was high quality, and they had a high response for changes in the app's design or the development or addition of new functions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only challenge for me was understanding their English. Otherwise, I had no issues. There’s nothing I can think of in terms of improvement.

I am an IT system manager in charge of infrastructure and development at a company that works with taxi companies. Recently, we moved into booking application that allows individuals to book taxis.

What challenge were you trying to address with ChromeInfo Technologies?

We were looking to get into the space of business-to-business taxi bookings, but we realized that for us to do it from ground zero would take a lot of work.  We decide to acquire the technology through an administration buyout.  We did some due diligence on that platform and we felt we could purchase it and also develop it. Although it was a complete system, we bought it as a locked stock and it didn’t have any of the documentation. Rather than start it from scratch, we had something that was working and could develop it into what we wanted. We have been running that purchase for about a year.

In the meantime, we’ve been developing B2B side of it. We were missing an application for it. There was an app for the consumer side and we approached the previous developers of that application, but they were based in Slovenia. We had to look for a company that would be able to build us an app for B2B bookings.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

ChromeInfo's developers were very much can-do people. I needed someone who could come in and could understand that we weren’t the original coders of the platform. Therefore, there was a bit of learning to do. They picked it up very well because we managed to get ahold of the original developers that built the website. ChromeInfo was really good at understanding and working with the other supplier in fixing little problems. They worked around some loopholes as well.

The application we had before was a quote-based system, whereas the business-to-business app is a book-only option system. It was less complicated to build that the consumer site. We needed someone who understood and could work with APIs. They also built a backend portal that allows you to see what they’re doing.  

What was the team dynamic?

There were quite a few individuals on the email distributors list. As far as the main people, I’ve interacted with a couple of Android developers, a couple of iOS developers and the project manager.

How did you come to work with ChromeInfo Technologies?

There’s a lot of app developers around to choose from. There’s sites where you can hire individual to build an application for you. We were looking for a company that had a few developers and expertise in making applications. We used Google to look up app companies and wanted to get someone local instead of someone abroad. Local companies were quite expensive compared to companies abroad. It was a combination of price and the expertise that would be the determining factor for our selection.

We shortlisted about three or four companies, one of which was ChromeInfo Technologies. We basically got three of those to submit a proposal and ChromeInfo Technologies came out as one of the ones that we chose and we eventually went with.

We have invested between $10,000 to $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement? 

We started working with them April 2017 until the project was completed in July.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The application is very simple, but the actual UX design is strong. The graphic capabilities were very good and the application does not look like an amateur product.

Since it’s a business-to-business application, we’re not driven by the number of downloads. The application launched on July 1st and we have had a couple of demonstrations with corporate organizations and the results have been very positive. We’ve had no reports of problems with the app so far. We are hoping to start a trial with big supermarket chains in January.

Project management was very good because there was an actual project manager. If you have any inquiries or any problems with the project, you could contact the project manager for payment milestones and so on. Since I am a technical person, I dealt with the developers and interacted mostly with them.

We found the UX design very impressive. Also, everything went smoothly and they built something that actually worked. There were no problems with the technical side of the project as it was very simple. I was more impressed with the look and feel of the application.

I liked the presentation they did and the portal where you could log-in and schedule. Also, the individual that I dealt with was very good at doing front-end development, getting all the requirements and having a quick turn-around time.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not really. It was very good.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

My name is Adam Karmi and I am the CEO of Premiumgainz. We personalize fitness content according to users’ goals through an app and a trainers’ portal. Trainers can use it to post anything from articles to videos and e-books, and use it as a marketplace for their workout, diet plans, and their online coaching. Users can see trainer profiles, followers, and content, but also purchase diet and workout plans.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with ChromeInfo Technologies?

We found a knowledge gap in the fitness market. There are fitness apps out there for calories and macros, as well as one-to-one videos out there, but this is not what the more advanced user wants. Rather, they are looking for personalized articles for their needs. Social media is getting a bit crowded in terms of content, and although they are doing a good job with algorithms, they can’t eliminate distractions such as ads, which is what the Premiumgainz app does. The overall mission is to build an app which bridges the overall knowledge gap and allows users to achieve goals more quickly. This is what we want to achieve, but also eliminate distractions and stop wasting time on our mobiles. For example, I have been known to go on Facebook and find that an hour has gone by and I’m watching cat videos.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

ChromeInfo implemented the designs drawn by myself using pen and paper. I explained all the functions I wanted to see, and they were implemented promptly, some within the same day. There was a clear process in place as to how things were done, but they were also flexible enough to see how I operated, and find a good medium for me.

How did you come to work with ChromeInfo Technologies?

I used to work for a tech company, and asked my connections there if they’d be willing to develop the app for me on a freelance basis. The cost factor was an initial benchmark, and I started looking online at different sites, including Clutch.co, which I found the most helpful. I discovered ChromeInfo, downloaded their previous apps, and thought they they’d be a good fit not only price-wise, but also in terms of quality. Their designs were good, but I wanted things on a different level. I had a designer onboard, who could work with the team, and turn my concept into something real.

How much have you invested with ChromeInfo Technologies?

The cost of their work has been between $15,000 and $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The official timeline was 12 weeks, from the beginning of January 2017, but we went overschedule by around 20 days. It was mainly due to my desire to nitpick everything before the app was launched. We aim to launch it in the beginning of July, at one of the biggest fitness expos in the UK and the world.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t officially launched the app, but we do have early adopters testing it. I’m a perfectionist, and I’m still changing things on the app. The CTO at my former workplace advised me to simply launch it and see how it would go, but I’m keeping it under the radar, only showing the platform to family and friends for feedback. I plan to launch it globally at the beginning of July.

How did ChromeInfo Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

From the beginning, I felt confident in ChromeInfo’s process. The sales team ran me through everything from the NDA to the actual scope of work, after which I was passed on to a project manager who ran me through the tech items, in terms of how the app would be scaled and developed. I had access to a schedule and the project management tools used by ChromeInfo’s team, specifically Zoho.

Not everything worked the first time, but the senior people in the company came in to help whenever something went wrong.

What did you find most impressive about ChromeInfo Technologies?

The app was rejected when it was first submitted to the app store, 2 days before the expo. I sent them a message, and a couple of people from ChromeInfo’s team made their way back to the office and resubmitted the app, even though it was 10 o’clock at night. I want to highlight this as the main proof that ChromeInfo is 100% committed, and don’t simply work on a project base, moving from one to the next. I couldn’t think of any other groups who would take this initiative.

Are there any areas ChromeInfo Technologies could improve?

There is a slight language barrier on their side, which meant that I had to write very detailed specifications for each element, and there were a couple of spelling mistakes. I don’t specifically fault ChromeInfo for this.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with ChromeInfo Technologies?

I would talk to Aashish Rawat, the senior project management person there, and approach him with the structure in which I wanted to work. Although I had access to a project management tool, I didn’t find it very useful on my end, so I talked to Aashish about it. He was more than happy to get the team up-to-speed, and allow us to work at the best efficiency.
