I interviewed and talked with many companies who claimed to do custom software, only to discover that many didn’t build what I’d call actual custom builds. I needed a company that would start from scratch and take the time to build something new because we were making for eBay sellers hadn’t been made yet. Ultimately, I really liked our first couple of conversations with Chetu, Inc.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Although we haven’t launched the product yet, we’ve been happy with the pace and quality of their work. We don’t worry too much about the development side because Chetu, Inc. is competent. If there’s a problem, we know they’ll fix it. They instill a lot of confidence.

How did Chetu, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

The project manager is amazing. We give him a lot of the credit; he’s the glue that binds us. Moreover, Chetu, Inc. takes time to help us understand exactly what we’re doing. We really enjoy working with them.

We’re always able to reach them; we communicate via emails, texts, and calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very patient and good at what they do. Chetu, Inc.’s team is polite, knowledgeable, and willing to patiently work with us. We never get a sense of over-urgency from them. We’ve never heard them sigh; they just lean in and help.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would’ve been nice to know how they wanted to deliver our information; it could’ve avoided some delays. Most delays were ours, so a bit of foreknowledge about what they’d need from us to develop the website would’ve been helpful.

We’ve outsourced software to Chetu, Inc. Initially, we provided them with specific details of what they had to do, and they’ve been in charge of implementing it.

The deliverable is a web platform that’s basically an algorithm that inputs the results of COMET Strategy, a mathematical optimization tool for mining planning. The platform allows our users to obtain an operational output of this mathematical optimization.

Chetu, Inc. uses an API system made on code against HTML, JavaScript, Node.js, and SQL as a database.

We interact with Ashish (Tech Lead) and his supervisor. They’re our main points of contact, but they also have a team working with them.

I started working for the company after they were hired.

We’ve spent between $50,000–$60,000 per month for one year.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in May 2022, and it’s an ongoing collaboration. Our deadline is May 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our expected result is to have a working software, but it’s a complex process. I’ve been an intermediary in communicating mining-related concepts to Chetu, Inc.’s team, and we’ve been very happy with their work, especially with the lead developer. Ashish has been very respectful and has shown a great willingness to solve issues. He’s been committed to learning more and is humble enough to make things work.

How did Chetu, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

Chetu, Inc. has been a bit strict, but we haven’t had any issues with scheduling. They’re always open to communicating; we use Slack and have weekly meetings via Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We haven’t had much experience working with other outsourcing companies, so we don’t have a comparison point. Nonetheless, Chetu, Inc. isn’t bureaucratic. Whenever we need them, we can contact the development team directly. Overall, everything has worked really well for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We could have a mediator that speaks Spanish. We’ve faced a couple of issues due to the fact that they aren’t familiar with the mining language. We’ve had to explain to Chetu, Inc. how our business works with great detail, but having someone with knowledge about mining who could also speak Spanish would’ve made things much faster and easier.

Also, sometimes the time difference can be complicated since we’re based all over the world.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I suggest being in direct contact with their development lead instead of their supervisor; that has made things a lot more efficient for us.

When the company started about seven years ago, we were very small. We used a software solution to offer our services. However, the company grew quickly, and the platform wasn’t able to keep up with that. As a niche company, there weren’t many softwares that could do exactly what we needed to do. We needed to create a software platform to handle our processes in-office with our contractors and all over the country.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Chetu, Inc. has developed our platform from scratch. We initially provided them with a description of a platform that was similar to what we wanted to achieve. We also had numerous features that were created based on our ideas and their suggestions.

One major problem we had with the software we had before was that it didn’t support the volume we had grown to. For example, we couldn’t sort by date, so the number one thing we focused on was sortability and searchability. Our key goal with the platform was to be able to quickly find information.

For technologies, Chetu, Inc. has used PHP and Bootstrap.

What was the team composition?

We have a project manager, and I mostly work with one of their teammates. I believe there are a couple more people working on the project, but I don’t know how many.

We found them searching on Google, along with several companies that were brought to me. We initially selected three companies, but we ultimately chose Chetu, Inc. because they were the best candidate for the project.

We had our first meetings in September 2021, and it’s an ongoing collaboration.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve been using the platform for over a year, and it works great. We’re about to start a second phase of the project to make some changes, but regarding results, one of our goals was to reduce labor hours, which have definitely gone down.

Moreover, we’ve had good feedback from our users. They say the platform is easy to navigate, simple, and beautifully laid out.

They’ve worked on time and within budget. During the project’s first phase, we used Google Sheets for project management. This time, Chetu, Inc. is using Trello, and it’s working very well.

We have weekly meetings via Zoom. Additionally, we communicate through email and share documents with each other.

The team members have extensive knowledge. They’re familiar with many different software and processes, so they’ve made great proposals.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They use a support ticket platform, but it’d be great if they used a platform of their own because we have limited features with a Trello free account. Therefore, we’re not able to share as much as we want.

Share videos with them with examples of your current processes and how you’d like to change them. Screen recordings and mock-ups are great communication tools.

This company after giving my app codes to debug is attempting to appropriate my IP as theirs. They have issued legal threads below. The issue is after paying them 40K + to them the product is not satisfactory and their coders take weeks for simple task. I asked them more than 4 weeks ago to stop all work and they have continued and continue billing me for work not done.

I have stopped further payments and this is the answer below tep 1 – We will issue a Cease and Desist notice addressed to you to advise all entities (individuals and organizations) to immediately destroy all Chetu Create IP, modified or unmodified, that may be in their possession. Lack of compliance may result in liabilities against each such party.

Step 2 – We will send your account to our 3rd party attorneys to proceed with litigation under the terms of the contract. Please be advised that upon litigation and per the terms of the contract the losing party is liable for all collection expenses including attorney fees.

Project management is great; I've had other experiences with similar projects, and missing deadlines is very common, but with Cheu, we haven't had any issues in that regard.

I’m the president and owner of a multi-consulting firm, primarily focusing on public health consulting.

What challenge were you trying to address with Chetu, Inc.?

One of our consulting clients wanted to use a grant to create an emergency and clinic multipurpose website. They already had an existing site, but it was outdated, and we needed to add more features to it. Thus, we hired Chetu to help us out with the project.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Chetu first helped us take our client’s existing website and completely redevelop it, modernize it, and make it more functional, following the document I had written that detailed what we wanted to achieve. Almost the entire website was designed and developed from scratch; we only used some written content from our former website.

On this site, Chetu has integrated an emergency posting system. Using it, we can post on our website whenever a major flood, fire, or other emergency occurs. Then, it automatically creates posts for social media — Facebook and Twitter — without us having to spend time posting directly.

Chetu has also helped us create a certification system to manage the county employees’ health and emergency certifications, as well as a health clinic scheduling system. For both features, I first wrote the processes behind each and provided them to Chetu. Then, they developed those features, and we went through an iterative process, making modifications and changes. Currently, we’re still modifying the certification system.

As for the technology stack, Chetu has built the site on WordPress, and it has some backend customization using SQL. Additionally, they worked with Facebook and Twitter to get the APIs needed to create the emergency posting system.

We started working together in February 2022, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The emergency posting system has improved our communications and the speed at which we alert the community about emergencies, specifically major fires, in our region. Getting the community alerted as quickly as possible has been very important. Whenever there’s a fire, the emergency manager can go into this system and post it, and within 10–15 minutes, the alert is on the website, Facebook, and Twitter.

In addition to the emergency posting system, the health clinic scheduling system developed by Chetu will also have a positive impact on the site. However, we’re still testing it before we roll it out to the public. Still, everything seems to be going well.

How did Chetu, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

Chetu has performed well; I have no complaints. We use Microsoft Project for project management, and we used to have weekly meetings on Zoom every Monday to review previous weeks and plan for the week ahead.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Chetu has done a really good job of developing the vision that I had.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Communicating with Chetu was rather difficult, but once they understood what we were trying to accomplish, they did a great job. It would be great if they could improve their English domain.

Be prepared for the project and have someone on your team who can write what you’re trying to accomplish in detail. It will help you streamline the process.

We had an issue once COVID hit that caused us to need to verify our teams were using best practices to run their projects. This has resulted in a much more efficient management operation.

We found them at a conference and then shopped for several other vendors. Chetu was the most competent in our industry the Construction Management industry and had the most integrations.

Our management travel was cut by 50%, our PMs time producing reports was cut by 30% and our customer reviews went from good to great.

The project management was pretty waterflow methodology. They took the project and broke it down into pieces and mostly worked on one piece at a time. We only used one developer so it was difficult to make it too agile but they also didn't plan very far in advance.

They were able to understand and integrate my ideas and even improve some with my permission.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It would be better if they could plan out the whole project and give me a better idea from the start how long the implementation would take with the resources available. I didn't get a good sense of when the project would be completed from the beginning and they led me to believe that I would know that after the first month.

What challenge were you trying to address with Chetu, Inc.?

An internal team member was working on building a Salesforce community portal for our channel partners. Unfortunately, this person had to leave the company, so we hired Chetu to pick up the project from where it was left.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Chetu helped us finish building our Salesforce community portal. The previous Salesforce architect had already completed some initial work after working on this project for approximately three months. Thus, when Chetu joined, we had already developed a site map and some content, and we had also identified all the functionality needed for this portal.

Initially, we provided Chetu with a project debrief of what had been completed, and we went through our requirements and the site map details. Once they gained access to our Salesforce platform, they looked at what the architect had developed and pointed out some functionalities that wouldn’t be supported after a Salesforce update. They also offered suggestions on how to improve what was already built.

After implementing the suggested fixes and changes, Chetu continued driving the development process. An internal team member led the design portion of the project, so she worked closely with Chetu to give them feedback about the design elements.

The portal that Chetu helped us develop is a secure site available only to our channel partners. On it, our channel partners can log in to have access to critical sales and marketing information. This portal also links them to a separate e-commerce site for our B2B platform. Due to this functionality, Chetu worked with our internal IT team and an external partner to develop a single log-in capability so that when a user goes from the secure portal to our e-commerce site, they don’t have to log in again.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a project manager and a team of developers. This team fluctuated throughout the project, depending on what they were working on at the time. On average, we had two developers on our calls.

How did you come to work with Chetu, Inc.?

When our internal Salesforce architect left our company, our project came to a halt, so I took some time to take a look at different vendors to restart the project. Some of these vendors came in recommended by our Salesforce representatives, and I found others while doing online research; Chetu was one of the companies I found.

We had worked with a variety of other Salesforce support vendors in the past, but this was the first time we spoke to Chetu. During the first call with them, I asked the account manager to give me more detail about their Salesforce capabilities. While going through their capabilities, we realized that they would be a strong fit for our project’s needs.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent an average of $4,700 per month, coming up to a total of around $40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October 2021 and wrapped up the project in May 2022. This timeline included six months of development work, a full month of testing, and two weeks of support during the product launch. Now, we’re using the portal and collecting feedback on how to improve it and what additional functionality it needs. After we’re done collecting enough feedback, we will likely reengage with Chetu for an upgrade project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Having the portal developed by Chetu definitely represented cost savings for our company. An internal Salesforce architect would have cost us around $10,000 per month plus benefits, but we only paid $4,700 per month to Chetu, and the project is now done.

As per the quality of their work, we’re very satisfied with the portal they delivered. Oftentimes, when I asked them to deliver a certain functionality, they would surprise me during our meetings by showing me an enhanced version of the feature I had requested, which ultimately improved the website’s UX. I would definitely recommend working with Chetu, and I would definitely use them again in the future if the need arises.

How did Chetu, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

Chetu’s project management was superb. From the start, they put in place a very thorough plan detailing the task list and timeline, ensuring that they understood my needs and that they would deliver what was intended.

We had weekly check-ins via video conference calls during which they updated the timeline, shared their screens, and demonstrated each phase of their development work. During those calls, I gave them immediate feedback on what they needed to correct or add. Additionally, they provided me with email reports detailing each week’s progress on the active tasks.

Even if we requested changes or the project took a slightly different direction, Chetu was still very committed to their work. They informed us how long the changes would take, and they stuck to those new timelines.

Throughout the project, we didn’t run into any issues; it all went so smoothly that it was unbelievable. From all the customer experience products we’ve developed, this one was the easiest one to complete by far.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Chetu’s level of organization, transparency, and attention to detail was impressive. They were able to capture all of our requirements in the task list. Each week, I knew exactly what they were doing, so we didn’t have any surprises. Additionally, they were very knowledgeable, to the point that they were able to point out some inefficiencies with how our backend had been set up.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not really. The only hiccup we had was that we occasionally had some connectivity issues with our video conference calls, but I can’t blame them for that; it was someone else’s technology. Overall, it was a very smooth project.

Dig into Chetu’s capabilities. They have a very broad range of talents and can help you with a variety of projects.

CTO of a Data Management company providing software tools to commercial and government agencies. I have been working in software engineering for over 30 years, have 3 engineering degrees and sit on an ISO Data management working group.

We hired Chetu to :

1. clear a backlog of test which were being moved from manual test to automated tests
2. Move some cloud-based microservices from AWS to Azure

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We found them using referral sites like this one, initially talking to 3 candidates and select Chetu on the basis of their claims to have considerable experience with automated testing in Java and experience in Azure devops

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

• Task 1: At the start of the engagement, Chetu engineers reviewed MDW's automated test suite and agreed they could convert 180 manual tests into automated tests. Chetu engineers agreed that about 20-30 per month could be completed. At the end of the first 2-week sprint, 7 tests were coded incorrectly and were referred back to Chetu engineers for correction. Despite daily reminders these tests were not corrected. At the end of the engagement no single test had been successfully coded, despite 5 days of our engineers coaching and assistance. 

• Task 2: 100 Hours of Chetu DevOps engineers' time was contracted. An initial, simple task was set to get one microservice running on Azure, so that the Chetu DevOps engineer could get familiar with the codebase. This simple task was never completed. Furthermore, the Chetu DevOps engineer did not follow instructions. He was asked not to commit to the the "main" and "develop" code branches. He did exactly that - making over 10 commits to these branches - and by so doing demonstrating his lack of skill and experience, and causing a lot of extra work for our staff.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

There were no measurable outcomes, no working code was delivered despite many hours of trying to help Chetu engineers at least achieve a minimal result. The net outcome was a waste of our time and effort.

The project management style is completely disjointed, it seems impressive at first, but they are unable to cope with simple issues, and seem set on applying there own poor coding standards, having previously agreed to ours.  The result is that we have not accepted one line of code from them.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They have the audacity to say they can provide competent programmers when they can't.

They don't even try to address concerns raised, no attempt was made to deliver anything that worked. in my experience of sub-contractors this is unique.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They could have engaged compentent engineers, listened to the instructions, done some work, and responded to advice.
