We needed help with a brand overhaul.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Chalkbox Creative has designed our website and logo and defined our brand colors. The team has also developed our site and worked on our marketing portfolio. We started with a brainstorming session with their senior leadership to determine our company’s message and look. Then, Chalkbox Creative came back with different design ideas for our company’s future. We were undergoing a name change at the time, and the team worked with different elements to put forward what they believed was the best brand for our company.

Chalkbox Creative has created ads for social media, specifically LinkedIn, and our website. We manage the content direction, and the team designs it.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve had a 100% traffic increase on our website, going from 0 to 300 visitors daily. Chalkbox Creative has given us a new image, allowing us to look like a good partner and be acquired by another company. We’ve received several positive feedback, and our team has shown pride in the company. We have a large network of former workers who are also excited about the new look. We're satisfied with Chalkbox Creative's work.

We’ve had one team leader gather our internal feedback and work with Chalkbox Creative directly. This has worked well for us because we haven’t had all of us on the phone giving directions or having different conflicting viewpoints.

The end result reflecting my overall vision for the new brand which I feel is unique not only in the design but also in using different materials for the business cards

Timeline was established at the beginning of the project, and all deliverables and meetings were on time except when I had to push it for my scheduling needs. Chalkbox was always responsive and avialable for questions and comments.

This was a full scope packaging redesign. Through in-person and zoom meetings, the team at Chalkbox took the time to understand and meet my branding goals. They listened to my needs, communicated the process step by step, presented variations ... repeat ... until we landed on the perfect look. Not only were they professional, they were a joy to work with!

The new packaging is a higher quality experience for the guest in function and visual appeal. The beautiful new look has attracted multiple new clients. The new packaging is also a more efficient solution for our team resulting in lower labor cost per unit.

They worked to extract what I wanted for the end product. This was no easy task because I really wanted the box to bring an emotion to the guest. Not just be a pretty box on the shelf. The team worked with me to understand this goal and I never felt compromised. We worked as a team to create something truly special.

I worked with Chalkbox on establishing a corporate brand identity for my new consultancy business.  Deliverables included a finalized logo, complete logo archive (multiple versions of  logo), and one-sheet brand guide (including logo variations, typefaces, and colors).

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Chalkbox delivered our new corporate identity on time and within the established budget. Anecdotally, we received several compliments on the name and corresponding look & feel.

We had a very agressive timeline and Chalkbox kept us on track to meet our launch schedule. They were very responsive to our needs, and politely/clearly communicated when feedback or a meeting was required in order to move the process forward. Their quick work and transparent communication helped us meet our deadlines.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Everything that Chalkbox presented or suggested had a well-thought through "why" behind it - they were true creative strategists who took the time to learn who we were and what we were trying to achieve and ensured this was represented in the design details. 
Details matter and they get that better than anyone - everything was intentional and had a purpose. We were also impressed with their honesty and transparency - they taught us a lot a about best practices and guided us when we were stuck. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something Chalkbox Creative could have done differently?

I don't have any meaningful areas for improvement to offer - they were creative, transparent, kind, and delivered what we asked of them.

My company enlisted Chalkbox Creative in 2018 to design "Guests in Attendance" booklets for the annual agent council conference of a major insurance company. This insurer was (and is) a longtime client of mine, so it was important for me to choose a design partner that would provide high-quality work. A collaborative approach was also vital, because the booklets had to adhere to distinct brand standards while including a wide variety of headshots and logos from individual agents and agencies.

The client was very pleased with the results, and the following year we had Chalkbox manage the conference booklet of the client's umbrella company (another major insurer). Chalkbox continued to design the booklets for both insurers through 2022, when the conference booklets were discontinued entirely. Chalkbox also managed print production and delivery before the booklets moved to a digital-only format. 

In 2020 we expanded the engagement further, asking Chalkbox to design postcards for an at-home engagement kit that was sent to agents in preparation for the conferences (which pivoted to a virtual format during the pandemic). The cards included agent and employee answers to fun icebreaker questions. Similar to the booklets, Chalkbox managed print production and delivery of the postcards to the client, who then performed final assembly and mailing.

The president of one of the insurers sent the following feedback in 2020:
"Just wanted to pass along that the packages sent out were very well executed. … My favorite part is the cards and getting to see everyone’s answers to the questions. Very well done and should make a virtual event feel that much more personal."

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Deliverables were on time and exceeded quality expectations. Client satisfaction was very high, as evidenced by feedback regarding specific pieces and the fact that the client was eager for me to include Chalkbox on subsequent projects.

Items were always on time. When trying to wrangle 40+ headshots, bios, and logos for booklets of this nature, there are always going to be changes—Chalkbox always responded promptly and patiently as I would pass along revisions from the end client. One of the things I love most about Chalkbox is the team's collaborative nature.

Additionally, Chalkbox's ability (and willingness) to manage print production and delivery to the client made my life much easier.

I'm the president of Dog Guard, a manufacturing company. We provide professionally installed, high-quality underground pet containment systems, helping families keep their pets safe with reliable fencing and expert training support across the US.

What specific goals or objectives did you hire Chalkbox Creative to accomplish for Dog Guard?

We hired Chalkbox Creative for a rebranding project of our family business. We needed to have the history of the branding respected while bringing the brand into the 21st century in terms of aesthetics.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Chalkbox Creative was integral to our rebranding effort, including but not limited to new logos, colors, fonts, and use cases described and packaged up ready for use by our team. They also contextualized that information for the larger dealer group so we could communicate the proper usage through a brand standards document. There was some additional scope over the years. For example, new vehicle designs that utilized the new branding were part of what they worked on. They also worked on updating our customer manual, brochures, door hangers, and business cards.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I'm not sure how to measure the outcome quantifiably for an aesthetic project and think it might be a mistake to do so. Regardless of the customer feedback, I personally believe that our brand is better off because of the project. I believe some dealers wouldn't have signed up if the brand still looked as it did before the refresh.

How did Chalkbox Creative perform from a project management standpoint?

They were organized and walked us through a process that accommodated my feedback. I've worked with other agencies where things are presented as done but aren't yet complete or have taken a wrong turn aesthetically. Chalkbox Creative's process allowed input at the right stages to make it a bit of a collaborative effort to ensure that my business would feel like my own.

That was their unique quality as a creative firm.

Everyone has room for improvement. However, I'm greatly satisfied with Chalkbox Creative's work and can't communicate what they could do better.
