This was helpful, but it was difficult to know all the questions we'd have when we hadn't had time to try editing much on the backend ourselves yet. It would have helped to have a brief 15-minute intro to the new site, and then maybe the full training session a few days later. I found myself with few quesitons on the training call, and then had to email a bunch of them the next day once I'd had time to explore the site myself. A secondary call later on could help reduce the post-launch email back-and-forth if there isn't a lot of time to review before the training.

Once approved I have found the project starts right away.  During the projects and either Lorena or Tim reach out to say how things are going and once things are complete we have another virtual meeting to ensure I know how to use the product and can pass that information on to other employees. The 2 main projects the team recently completed were the Individualized Growth Plan required by our Department of Education and a plugin that fills out the appropriate behavior form on the approved state Form A.

Tim has taught me a lot just through the virtual meetings and emails and has saved us a lot of time and made sure we are doing things in a state compliant manner.  Anytime I hear from Lorena and Tim they ask how things are going and you can tell they care about their customers and would go the extra mile to ensure everything is correct.Are there any areas for improvement or something Capitol Tech Solutions could have done differently?I have absolutely no areas for improvement for Capital Tech Solutions as Lorena and Tim met all my expectations and then some. I really wish other orgaiziatrions worked like this as it would make processes more efficient, reliable and enjoyable to work with.

Initially, we had several meetings before the process. We’ve test-driven various platforms through social media sites and Google and done a great deal of API work. We’re using Booker and MINDBODY to customize the interaction.

Additionally, we just finished filming a three-and-a-half-minute commercial, which will go live in about four weeks. From there, we’ll get 30-second and 60-second condensed spots.

We started the business during COVID-19 and had to shut down and reopen three times. We’re finally fortifying the building blocks of growth under our feet. It’s been more challenging than we’d ever imagined, but we hit the break-even point about three months ago.

Overall, site activity has soared, and we have a significant number of retentions. We’re very pleased with the results so far and are starting to see the business grow exponentially.

How did Capitol Tech Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been extremely conscientious about doing exactly what they were contracted to do. I can’t think of one important benchmark that hasn’t been met. They’re just great at projecting, which is rare in the amorphous world of tech.

It’s just like building a home — you realize halfway through that you want another 50 things, so the cost goes up. However, Capitol Tech Solutions keeps the horizon clear in front of us. We’ve been able to navigate all the changes without surprises, and the deliverables are precisely what we anticipated. It’s probably the best outcome we could’ve forecasted.

We communicate through email, Zoom, Google Meet, and text. It’s a very personalized experience. Marik does a phenomenal job. He continually advocates for timelines and is in constant communication. Overall, they’ve been collaborative partners during the whole process.

Initially their pricing and services met our needs. They donated a few services to start and so we were able to see the level of service they would provide.

They took our previous Sac Century website through Wordpress and completely rebuilt it from scratch. They provided a technician who created an outline that was easy to understand. Then provide regular suggestions on updates. On a weekly basis they provide a social media schedule for approval.

It was also paramount to have a partner that was familiar with the Texas education system’s procedures, especially around funding. We had well over 100 customizations we needed to deliver by certain dates. Capitol Tech easily contributed 40%–45%. They successfully configured, set up, designed, and QA’d each one.

How did Capitol Tech Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

I was the program manager for the entire project. We held a more scrum agile approach. Capitol Tech’s development lead did a great job managing code review from start to finish. We also used project management tools and had several levels of review to make sure everything stayed within our standards.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of their strengths was the knowledge of the product. They really helped to train our staff on some of the behind-the-scenes development efforts and plugins. They were very instrumental and valuable.

They’re a great group of people to work with. They roll up their sleeves and get into the work. They do a great job of understanding what’s expected within the scope of delivery and development. They also understand end-users and business requests, too. The team was able to give us suggestions based on their experience with other school districts.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they were very honest and open. Usually, they were spot on with how long it would take them to deliver something. They were always very available.

My advice is to be clear and concise about what your scope of work is and what you want Capitol Tech to deliver. Firm documents are important for any project. Give them the opportunity to ask questions and offer suggestions.

### PBS KVIE Website Redesign
Capitol Tech Solutions (CTS) partnered with PBS KVIE, a long-time client since 2017, to modernize and optimize their website for a streaming-forward audience. The project focused on improving user engagement, content delivery, and site performance.
The redesign began with extensive research and stakeholder collaboration in late 2022. CTS developed updated mockups for key pages, including the homepage, show pages, and programming templates, based on data insights and best practices from other leading PBS stations.
CTS’s development team implemented the approved designs starting in December 2022, completing the build by May 2023. A major technical enhancement included optimizing integration with the PBS API, streamlining how program content updates are pulled from the PBS database so that the site stays up-to-date with minimal manual effort.
After launch, the redesigned PBS KVIE site increased user engagement by keeping visitors on the platform longer and reducing redirects to external video sites. Tools like Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics were added to track user behavior and key performance indicators, guiding ongoing improvements.

### WellSpace Health Website Redesign
Capitol Tech Solutions redesigned the WellSpace Health website to modernize its digital presence, improve accessibility, and create a more intuitive experience for patients and community members. WellSpace Health, a leading nonprofit health provider, needed a site that better supported access to medical, dental, behavioral health, and supportive services across its network.
CTS delivered a full redesign focused on usability, clarity, and ADA compliance. ### Website Redesign Project
Capitol Tech Solutions partnered with the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) to redesign and modernize its website, creating a more intuitive, accessible platform that supports advocacy, policy updates, and member engagement. As the statewide voice for all 58 counties, CSAC needed a site that made it easier for county leaders and stakeholders to find timely information and resources.
The previous website was difficult to update, lacked mobile responsiveness, and made content management inefficient. CTS rebuilt the site on WordPress using the Bricks page builder, giving CSAC staff the ability to easily create, edit, and publish content without technical support. The redesign also included a reorganized site structure, improved navigation, and standardized templates for news, events, programs, and policy focus areas.
A major enhancement was the integration with CSAC’s Association Management System (Rhythm), allowing for personalized, member-specific content and a more seamless user experience. CTS ensured the new platform meets WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards and performs consistently across all devices.

### From WIX to a Comprehensive WordPress Site
Capitol Tech Solutions recently completed a significant transformation for a client’s online presence by converting a one-page WIX website into a 10-page WordPress site. This transition was driven by a need for greater functionality and the flexibility to scale as the client’s business grows.
The new website features a striking black and white design that adheres to a modern, minimalist aesthetic, ensuring that the content stands out without unnecessary distractions. Capitol Tech Solutions partnered with Abridged, a new nonprofit newsroom in Sacramento powered by PBS KVIE, to design and build a modern, scalable digital publishing platform in preparation for its 2025 launch. Abridged needed a website that could support frequent news updates, integrate community engagement tools, and remain easy for staff to manage.
The project began with careful platform evaluation to determine the best foundation for long-term editorial flexibility and growth. After comparing options, WordPress paired with the Bricks builder was selected for its scalability and flexibility. The development was executed in phases to meet critical deadlines while supporting ongoing refinement.
Phase 1 delivered the core site framework including the homepage, custom news templates, donation processing, and newsletter signup. Subsequent phases expanded features, refined content structure, and prepared additional templates and workflows in advance of the official launch.

### CalHR Website Migration and Redesign
Capitol Tech Solutions worked with the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) to migrate and redesign its public-facing website, moving from a legacy SharePoint environment to a modern WordPress-based platform as part of the state’s standardized web publishing services. The project involved transitioning more than 760 pages while improving accessibility, usability, and performance.
A primary goal was to build a site that meets WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards and aligns with the California State Web Design System. ### Application and Database Evaluation for California Energy Commission
In the Summer of 2019, Capitol Tech Solutions (CTS) was selected by the California Energy Commission (CEC) for database evaluation and assessment through their CMAS contract. The CEC is the state’s primary energy policy and planning agency and plays a pivotal role in moving the state toward a clean energy future.
 
Capitol Tech Solutions is working with the department to evaluate its Renewables Portfolio Standards (RPS) Online System. This is one of California’s key programs for advancing renewable energy as it provides procurement and reporting for the state’s load-serving entities. CEC verifies RPS claims after generation is procured from RPS-certified facilities.


### Amazon API Integration for Ecommerce Business Automation Solution
Consumer Electronic Showroom (CEShowroom), a leader in online consumer electronic sales, had outgrown their existing application infrastructure, and needed to modernize their platform to allow for future business growth. Their existing Microsoft Access Database Solution posed an issue with size constraints which was hindering their ability to expand. They wanted to migrate from the Access platform to a .NET Cloud Based Solution that would offer the room to expand their technology and incorporate their product database with the Amazon API Gateway. Making these changes would provide CEShowroom the ability to streamline their business processes by increasing the automation options available to them by integrating Amazon API documentation.


### Student Information System Integration Software Development Project
Identimetics, a leader in biometric technology, had a great solution for school districts, but struggled integrating their data with PowerSchool SIS in a seamless fashion. Initially, they have the services team at PowerSchool build them a custom UI page to read in the ID from the scanner. But this solution required a computer at every finger scanner, and did not allow for their USB based finger scanners. Moreover, it required districts to change their attendance setup to meet the requirements of their technology, not the other way around as it should have been. Thus, identiMetrics was not able to fully utilize all their tools to serve their customers, and struggled growing this new service.
Our Student Information System (SIS) experts met with identiMetrics, understood their technical challenges, and reviewed a demo of the product in its current state. With the current setup requiring a computer at each scanner, they were not able to grow to scan fingers in every classroom like they desires, and it challenged our PowerSchool SIS experts to develop a solution to support their growth.


### Website Redesign, WooCommerce Integration & Client Information
San Diego-based medical conference provider, MCE Conferences, required an innovative web design and user experience that would reflect the branding and business objectives under new leadership. The website project set out to enhance the user experience by creating an intuitive, logical customer journey through the availability of conferences, unique destinations and promotion offers converting audience members from browsers to buyers.
