Despite the time-zone difference, the Bytes team worked to ensure thier team was available during our daily working schedules. Bytes Technolab Inc. stayed on schedule based on my response time. There were some issues I think they should have caught before I did. However, when I notified them of the issues, they fixed them immediately. We communicated via WhatsApp, email, Google Sheets, and Google Docs.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Despite our very different time zones, communication and being part of the team effort were more seamless than I thought it would be.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The errors I found could have been found by their team first and fixed before I went through to find issues like buttons that went to 404 pages or that just didn't link anywhere.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bytes Technolab Inc. managed all development needs except for system architecture. They worked on the frontend and backend of three web apps, including DevOps.

The deliverables included:

• Admin panel: UI for reports, user management, and content (events, stories, discounts). APIs for user management, beans, transactions, and reports. Product and inventory configuration tools. Backend integration for loyalty data and analytics.
• POS app: UI for orders, QR scanning, POS user login, and inventory. APIs for order creation, wallet sync, and shot card validation. Support for discounts and beans at checkout. Link transactions with user app accounts.
• User app: UI for login/signup, wallet, products, cart, and shot cards. APIs for auth, orders, product data, and transactions. QR code for store pickup and beans tracking. Shot card purchase, activation, and sharing features.
• Shopify loyalty app: Admin panel to configure widget and display gifts. Storefront widget for beans and gift redemption. APIs for user sync, referral codes, and beans logic. Shopify integration for tracking loyalty actions.

We started our conversations in January 2024, and the project was terminated in February 2025.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were dissatisfied with the final deliverables. For the past two months, we had only been working on fixing their work. Multiple core and very important features were handed over with issues that turned out to be due to their oversight and low quality of work.

On launch day, we had issues with every single feature and app. It took us three weeks after to stabilize the system and fix issues. The servers completely crashed. Transactions weren't recorded correctly. Reports didn't display or download. The POS system crashed on login. App users couldn't scan their QR code... and the list goes on.

How did Bytes Technolab Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

Bytes Technolab Inc.'s project management was the biggest problem for us. The project manager consistently underdelivered, missed proper assessments, communicated very poorly, and was responsible for multiple major mistakes that led to the major delays.

We went 35% over budget and 100% past the agreed timeline. The main challenge was to develop all the features well-functioning and within a strict timeline and budget. Bytes Technolab Inc. failed to address or accomplish this due to consistent mismanagement.

We consistently shared our concerns and eventually asked for a change of management. However, no steps were taken from Bytes Technolab Inc. to amend. We paid the price until the end. We communicated via Slack for daily needs, and Basecamp for weekly and monthly updates.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Bytes Technolab Inc.'s capacity to analyze and understand the project quickly and bring in developers at different phases and onboard them quickly was impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Bytes Technolab Inc. could be more critical of their project manager, which was hurting both of our businesses. They should take responsibility for their shortcomings and grave mistakes during the process.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Even though they had developers that deeply cared about their projects, the management of Bytes Technolab Inc. had deep-rooted issues. At the top, they were ill-intentioned towards their clients and didn't have their best interest as a priority. And their middle-management demonstrated incompetence across the entire process.

Bytes has been our exclusive internal tech team for the last 7 years. They have managed all aspects from creative development to front and back end coding. All builds have been custom HTML and seamlessly integrated with our external platforms.

We have had hundreds of projects with the Bytes team over the last 7 years. Mitul has been with us every step of the way. Majority of our team members have also been with us for 2+ years. We use Jira for project tracking/sprints and all tasks are communicated on and completed timely. We have a project manager on our side as well as the Bytes side who communicate daily.

I can not recall a single project that was requested that Bytes could not complete. Their team has built very intricate reporting/scoring platforms, databases and API's that process hundreds of thousands of data sets monthly.

We have had 2 project managers from Bytes during our 7 year relationship and both were amazing additions to our team. Communicate with excellent. Almost to good, that I become the bottleneck at times. Every task is always delivered on time. With a 12 hour time difference I don't think anyone at Bytes even sleeps!

Bytes is not just a contractor to my company. They are an extremely vital part of our team. All of our Bytes team members will work tirelessly until the task is completed. Communication is top notch. We met each week to review progress and provide feedback. We saw substantial progress on the sites in every week's call and even the day after the call after feedback had been applied. The BTI team works efficiently without sacrificing quality.

Karan, our project manager, was extremely proactive and provided clear communication flagging when requirements or expectations were unclear or when items were ready for approval/testing, etc. The whole team was also very adaptable to our processes which was much appreciated.

Every member of the team that we communicated with was highly professional and personable. They seek results and act quickly. I thought the drastic time difference between our team and theirs would slow the project down, but in fact, it allowed us to work faster since we could request something at 5pm and have it completed by 9am the next day. It was a pleasant experience and we plan to continue the partnership as work becomes available.
