I work for a large native company that specializes in oilfield development and Energy Services. I am a research and development engineer, and my job is to create, commission, and eventually showcase large industrial technology.

It can be very hard to visualize and understand large technological equipment, even through pictures and videos of the operation. Animation has the unique ability to showcase interior mechanisms and how they work.

This vendor was recommended to me by a family member. After some time of rigorous quality matching with other available companies, my company decided to work with Buzzflick because of their proposed price for the work, as well as their structured production philosophy, project steps, and production stages.

The video is an animation showcasing our newest product. The process begins with storyboarding, and scriptwriting, done by me. The next steps are more collaborative, with the majority of the work being done by Buzzflick. They rendered the unit in a 3D space, and used the model to fill in the visual portions of the storyboard. When the model and the storyboard were approved, Buzzflick began animation. The stage we are currently in.

I worked primarily with Azlan. He is an excellent communicator and coordinator. He is detail-oriented and does not offer more than Buzzflick can provide, which I appreciate. The team has been incredibly quick between iterations, and it is usually my team that takes the longest between each sprint, due to marketing and legal qc's. Within days of passing the ball to the buzzflick team, they have implemented all the feedback and are ready for the next sprint.

WE have not achieved success yet, as the project is still in progress, but the progress has been great, and the team has been great to work with.

Azlan has been leading the project on their side. Each deliverable has been on time, or before expected. Prompt responses to emails.

The storyboard looks really impressive. They provide very sleek and accurate renderings in a really quick turnaround.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Having a file share system would be great, so each side could see all the files that have been shared and upload large reference documents instead of doing everything on email.

The video is a demo video with illustrated characters and snapshots of the software explaining how the product works. Project steps included brief (where we explained our goal, provided detailed info and discussed general details of the project), scripting, theme (setting up general guidelines for the video, e.g. feel and look), storyboard (illustration that goes with each story line), animation (voiceover provided by us). Currently animation stage is being worked on.

I've worked with Kevin (Business Development Manager), Sara (Project Manager) and most of my communication was with Azlan who have been making sure the production is moving forward and all my comments are implemented.

We can share that we've had a very positive experience working with the company. The staff is very supportive, responsive, good in following deadlines and producing nice illustration quality! All our requests were carefully listened to and acted upon.

Project management has been smooth and friendly, timelines have been followed neatly by BuzzFlick. Main communication has been through email/TeamWork platform and we had a few Zoom calls. Buzzflick team has been flexible to meet clients' preference for communication medium and timezones.

They have been very supportive, friendly and knowledgeable.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It's a human thing that some small things can be missed sometimes, so checking a bit more carefully such things as color/illustration coherence of graphical elements would improve the performance.

We need an explainer video in a very short amount of time. Zack had shared that normally it would take 3 times as long to complete but went back to the team to see what they could do to make it happen in 3-5 days. 5 days later we had an explainer video in our hands.

Zach made himself available throughout the entire project and keep me updated as we moved through each phase of the explainer video. He told me it would take 3-5 days and the video was completed in that time too. It was incredible.

We were impressed with their excellent customer service. He was empathetic and understood technical aspects of the project too. It's a unique combination.

What challenge were you trying to address with BuzzFlick?

We needed a marketing video that could explain or process without having to individually call our clients or give them a log document about them. We were also looking for something fun and interactive.

What was the scope of their involvement?

BuzzFlick has been doing animated video production for us. The process for this video was very smooth; I started by having a conversation with their business developer through Facebook, and after that, they assigned a project manager to me. Consequently, we went through the process of doing the storyboard, the animations, and the script. Their team also gave us options for voiceovers.

To jumpstart everything, we told them the type of market we’re in, our processes, and the goals we’re trying to accomplish, and based on that, they gave us a draft and layout of the information they needed from us to make everything happen.

What is the team composition?

I work with their business development manager, a project manager, a storyboard artist, an animator, a QA specialist, and a content writer. Our main point of contact is our project manager, which is helpful because we can tell him our requests, and he manages them through their team.

They reached out to me via Facebook, and I researched their work after that. Everything I checked out on them seemed 100% authentic, and I decided to hire them.

We’ve received good feedback from the video viewers — our existing customers loved it. They say that the video accurately represents how we work. In addition to that, the video on our YouTube and Facebook profiles allows us to easily explain things to our new potential customers because they can see our processes and how things happen.

Overall, I give a 10/10 to their work.

How did BuzzFlick perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management has been great; they’re responsive, always available, and don’t limit our time to reach out to them — their product manager still replies to me even at 9 pm. Also, they don’t try to upsell me anything, which has allowed us to stay on budget.

Overall, they get back to us at any time of the day, which is good for me.

In terms of tools, we use Teamwork.com; we manage all the deliverables and communication there. I can also text or call them whenever we need something urgent.

Their decent pricing, turnaround times, and references from previous work distinguish them from other providers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — I’m satisfied with the quality of their work, which is exactly what I was looking for, and I feel that everything’s on point. We’ve been receiving what we were looking for, and we feel like a priority to them.

After initial telephone conversations and proposal reviews from 4 vendors, we chose BuzzFlick because of their immediate grasp of what we wanted to accomplish, their pleasant demeanor, and professional manner. The cost was very reasonable but wasn't the deciding factor.

Once we decided on BuzzFlick, a discovery meeting was held to go over our goals, parameters of the project, and a timeline. We provided a script, then chose the style of animation and type of voiceover. We received a storyboard of the video and after helping us tweak our script and refining the message, our nearly 2-minute video was completed within a week. They also duplicated the video (with minor changes to the imagery and voiceover) so that we could use it for another vertical.

We worked with Azlan, our project manager, who kept us informed of the process, project status, and generally kept us on track. The process was well-defined, everything ran smoothly, and we stayed on schedule.

The resulting video is an overwhelming success. Our sales groups use the video as an introduction of the new product and our customers appreciate the quality and directness of the video’s message. In addition to providing our current customers with a new money-saving product, we’ve acquired numerous new customers with the help of the video. (Customer feedback is always positive.)

Our project manager was very thorough and quite accommodating when it came to our changes (both scheduled and unscheduled). The entire team was unpretentious and always professional throughout the process. Most of our communications was by email where instructions and suggestions were direct and well thought out. The whole process was a pleasant experience.

We were most impressed with the quality of the finished product, the quick turnaround, their understanding of what we wanted to accomplish, the professionalism of everyone we contacted, and the final cost. For our first venture into producing a video, it was a rewarding experience.

I wrote a script for the music video. Basically a race between me and santa clause to see who could land the most gifts. A proposal was made and a time frame was set. They asked me to send any type of visual inspirations I had. Once sent those they did the character and set design then followed up with a story board and before you know it the visual was pretty much done.

Added some tweaks here and there and then it was complete.
