After we had entered into Challenge competition, as part of the Decade of Healthy Ageing, and delivered a multimillion pound programme with huge success. There was a key objective for delivering the dissemination activities, with a short documentary being one of them. 
This was a complex Programme of works and required a comprehensive understanding of the rationale behind the programme, as well as understanding the impact on customers, the evaluation overall and finally the strategy for sustaining the investment.

Here is a list of key deliverables;

• Create a storyboard, along with key narrative, quotes and impact statements
• Set up, Lead, direct and produce the short film encompassing; Our role as lead in the Programme, giving background and content; sharing the results of the 3 year programme ; Customers who received products and services, designing the interview questions to help extract key impact on their lives. 
• Interviews at 4 locations in the UK; Including our Energy (The Programme lead), A University (The programme Evaluator), Customers (who received the products and services).
• Edit and produce 1 15 min video and a 10 min video. 
• Build creatives within the video that include brand design for us and our partners, music that helps to create a short documentary, leaving viewers with emotional impact.
• Share the film product on a safe platform.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The Service delivery was exceptional;

• Any questions or queries that we had, were answered approproately, thoroughly and within a few hours. 
• Jake and Sam took extra care to support our vulnerable customers who were being interviewed. We received glowing feedback from the customers that they were looked after and that BTV met their expectations. 
• They were very supportive of nerves and understood that clients being interviewed for the first time can be nervous. They made many changes to accomodate, the results being that no nerves were shown on the final film.
• Administration with BTV was easy. This included setting up as a vendor, making payments and settling the accounts. They followed the process without any questions.
• The final production film was outstanding and of an exceptional quality. The shift between subjects and people was so smooth, with plenty of B-roll to fill in the gaps. The editing was first class with the removal of unnecessary words, pauses, sounds etc to make the viewing fit together and run without glitch. 
• The team were very respectful of the working environment so when coming into a busy workplace, understood the rules around safety, compliance and data protection.

As described previously, the project management of the whole delivery was exceptional, first class. It really mattered to BTV that they delivered on their brand and maintained their reputation as a professional production company. It wasn't just about the production of the tangible product at the end, it was the journey inbetween that was also important to them. As a customer, we were being treated with dignity and respsect and nothing was too much trouble. 

We had tight deadlines to meet, but BTV planned in advance with us, working backwards to make sure there was time to cover off any contingencies. Even though they are a relatively small business, it was surprising how much skill and knowledge they had in dealing with the varying demands of corporate businesses, as well as the ever changing needs of customers.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

There were many things that were unique about BTV that we had not experienced with previous companies in production. It wasn't just the attention to detail, it was the service itself, the respect that they gave to the client and the businesses they were supporting. BTV go above and beyond to settle nerves, adapting to make the subject matter feel at ease, and then to produce a high end quality film at the end of it. The feeback on the film as been phenomenal. 
They left with a lasting impression and we will definately continue to use them for future productions.

Subaru UK wanted to produce a new TV ad that would help to increase the brand awareness of their SUV range including the all-new electric vehicle. We knew that our unique selling point was centred around our permanent all-wheel drive system, something that sets us apart as every vehicle we make is equipped with this as standard, so the video needed to highlight how capable our SUVs are on and off-road, and in any conditions.

I’m the marketing director of an IT service provider. We also provide device rental services; we have a device rental portal.

What challenges were you trying to address with BTV.UK?

We were trying to create video content to show how the scheme worked and how to use the technology in classrooms and more.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

BTV.UK scoped out the video; it was a joint effort, but they were in charge of storyboarding and everything related to it. They filmed the video and provided their own equipment for the whole process. Additionally, they were in charge of video editing and audio mixing.

What was the team composition? 

We worked with four teammates. 

How did you come to work with BTV.UK?

A colleague worked with them in a previous row. She said they were excellent, so they came highly recommended. Ultimately, we decided to go with them.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent around $14,000.

What is the status of this engagement? 

We started working with them in November 2022 and finished in January 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The video hasn’t been published yet, but we expect to do it soon. It’ll be on the front page of our website, and we’ll also post it on our social media pages.

Currently, we’re in the process of editing the video. Our management team hasn’t seen it, so we don’t have any specific feedback to share. However, I’d recommend BTV.UK based on my experience working with them. In fact, we expect to work with them again.

We have no complaints about project management. BTV.UK was on top of it the whole time. Communication was excellent; we mostly used emails and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We couldn’t have worked with a better company; BTV.UK was a perfect fit for us. They were a small company, which was great for us because it was an intimate experience. Overall, the team was honest and did exactly what we needed.

I’m the head of marketing of AMP Clean Energy Group, a company that owns, develops, and operates low carbon or renewable assets.

What challenge were you trying to address with Barrett Film Co.?

We were trying to address Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) training internally.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Barrett Film Co. produced a 10-minute explainer video about health and safety training for our employees. First, they did a site visit to a location with a 4.5-megawatt boiler in it. The team helped us with storyboard creation and scriptwriting. From there, they filmed everything on-site for over two days, and they edited the video. 

Additionally, Barrett Film Co. took care of the music selection, and they arranged on-set photography for us. They also edited a one-minute showreel that I can use externally. The 10-minute video was uploaded to YouTube for internal use only. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with about five people from their team, including a videographer, a production assistant, a camera operator, a photographer, and someone in postproduction.

How did you come to work with Barrett Film Co.?

I had worked with them previously through a marketing agency that introduced me to them. I decided to go with Barrett Film Co. because I felt they were very professional, thorough, and methodical in the pre-planning stages. The team’s professionalism and breadth of experience were also factors. 

How much have you invested in them?

We spent about £17,000 (approximately $21,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together in April 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our chief executive said Barrett Film Co.’s work was brilliant. We use the video to explain our HSEQ culture to our employees. This has saved us time because it’s a more effective medium to embed that culture than wading through interactive PDF documents; our health and safety guide is about 200-plus pages. With the 10-minute video, we can ensure that our new hires are safely onboarded.

Additionally, nothing was too much trouble for Barrett Film Co.’s team. They went the extra mile to reassure us, taking extra steps to ensure we understood what was happening and what they were filming. Plus, they always double-checked that they got the required footage. 

How did Barrett Film Co. perform from a project management standpoint?

They delivered to our expectations in terms of project management. We communicated through emails and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Barrett Film Co. went the extra mile to deliver high-quality output, and they were also fun to work with. The team triple-checked their work, taking care of the details, which was important for a busy executive like me. They had a really good creative eye; even though what we do can be quite dull, they made it look professional and fun.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything they needed to improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to make sure that you meet with Barrett Film Co. and brief them very well on the project, your expectations, and what it is you’re trying to achieve with the video so they can help shape the project with you. In other words, get them in early.

I'm a client services director at a PR agency and I use Barrett to support on client projects.

I have used Barrett for a couple of projects now including helping an engineering company develop a documentary style tour of its service centre during lockdown when customer couldn't visit. As well as a video case study for a temporary power company wanting to showcase the results of some pioneering sustainability field trials.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Jake had been in to our agency to show us some work a while back and I was impressed with the quality of output. I gave my first client two options of vendor, one which was budget and Barrett which was more premium and they chose Barrett. After working with the team and seeing how professional they were I decided to put them forward for other client campaigns.

I approach Jake to give a brief overview of what we are trying to achieve and he provides feedback and a quote. He will also help by talking to my client when their idea is in its infancy. His team will then storyboard and come up witha desired shot list so that shooting on the day is as easy as possible.

I have worked with Jake and Sam as directors on two separate films. And also Georgia as production assistant. Everyone is super professional and make the process super simple for everyone involved.

All videos have performed really well in terms of engagement.

Everyone is always really easy to communicate with and super speedy on amends. The Frame.io tool they use is straightforward to use in terms of feeding back.

We work with Jake (Director), Steve (Creative Lead), and Sam (Post-Production). They also have a sound crew and a runner.

How did you come to work with Barrett Film Co.

We were recommended to Barrett Film Co. by our client. We looked at their portfolio, and we were blown away. They got what we needed straight away and were great people to work with.

How much have you invested with them?

The project was funded by the client. I don’t have the exact amount, so I’ll say somewhere around £20,000 (approximately $28,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We spoke to Barrett Film Co. in December 2020, and the filming took place in January 2021. Since we worked with them on that film, we've carried on working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They deliver on time and within budget, which is always crucial. This project was an internal video, so it wasn't put out in the public sector. However, the feedback from the client and the internal staff who watched it was outstanding. They said it was very different from what they usually did. The standards were very high and it was entertaining and engaging. 

How did Barrett Film Co. perform from a project management standpoint?

They use a video platform to share edits of the video. We also have a lot of Zoom calls, and we have a WhatsApp group, which is amazing. They are always there at the end of the phone to discuss any amount of feedback.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We find it amazing that we don’t feel like two separate creative agencies; it's like we are all on the same team. We just want the project to be the best that it can be so that it all looks great, and it’s a really great partnership. 

Also, they have the same work ethic as us, which I think is really important when you're working together on this type of project. They are working long hours to make sure we met the deadlines on budget, so we are really impressed with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think that they could improve anything — they are absolutely fantastic.

Any advice for potential customers?

Don't hesitate to have an initial conversation with them, because not only do they understand your requirements, they add a lot of value and put forward ideas that you may not have considered. That's something that we really appreciate.
