We engaged Bricks team to build and deploy an AI voice calling agent for our restaurant operations, primarily to handle inbound calls for reservations, order inquiries, and peak-hour customer support.

From a technical standpoint, what stood out immediately was their ability to architect a system that actually works in production - not just a demo. They designed a scalable call handling setup that integrates cleanly with modern voice infrastructure (including ElevenLabs/n8n/openAI/Twilio) and backend workflows, while keeping latency low and conversations fluid enough for real customer interactions.

The biggest impact has been during peak season. The agent is now handling a significant portion of our daily call volume (hundreds of calls), especially during rush hours when our staff would typically be overwhelmed. This has directly reduced missed calls and improved customer response times without needing to increase headcount.

What I appreciated as a technical stakeholder is their structured approach to iteration. Conversation flows, fallback handling, and edge cases (like unclear inputs, menu questions, or reservation conflicts) were continuously refined based on real call data. They were comfortable working through ambiguity and optimizing both the AI layer and system orchestration over time.

They also demonstrated strong ownership - monitoring performance, suggesting improvements proactively, and ensuring the system stayed stable under load.

Like any AI system, there’s still ongoing tuning to make interactions more dynamic and less templated, but the foundation they’ve built is solid and production-ready.

The platform provides:

The Bricks team played a pivotal role in developing BucketMatch into a true MVP from the initial protoype that I shared with them at the beginning of our engagement. They've followed a clear process:

1) Vision Intake: Understanding my vision and helping define the product roadmap.
2) Product Design: Creating high-fidelity wireframes to support my visualized UI/UZ.
3) Development: Building the actual web app to reflect what was agreed upon. 
4) Testing & QA: Ensuring the web app functions properly across all aspects of the platform.
5) Deployment: Deploying live and following up on critical feedback (e.g. bugs) reported by users.

The team has helped build a number of key components to help our users achieve their bucket list goals. Some of these features include:

The team started by cleaning up and rehauling our entire old back-end to improve efficiency. We've launched over 25 new features (probably much more) in the last 10 months. The team has consistently delivered on our agreed plan month-over-month.

They've done a stellar job of sticking to the timelines we agreed to during our weekly meetings. And if there is a reason why we might be delayed or need to pause on a particular project, they do a great job of communicating the reasoning behind the decision and what to expect going forward. One of my favorite things about working with this team is that they are not afraid to disagree with me if they are not bought in on the vision that I've shared. They communicate well during our weekly meetings as well as over email.

Many product partners will just take in my instructions and build what I say. But what makes this team uniquely is that they are truly thoughtful partners. They will consider the long-term implications of product changes and new features. They come to the table with their own ideas and recommendations based on what they know about our target market, use-cases, and long term vision. They build in certain additional functionality that I didn't even ask for because they know it'll be best for the overall user experience.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Bricks could have done differently?

I believe that the biggest gap in our product development process right now is the process of coming up with a really sleak design and UX flow (i.e. taking a general concept/vision then turning that into multiple different possible mock-ups based on competitor research, user interviews, and internal discussions. While this is not necessarily a core function that I expected when I hired the team, if they could truly handle all aspects of product development end-to-end that would be incredible and something I'd be willing to pay for, of course.
