My wife is a realtor, and the name of her company is Jill Lake Incorporated.

What challenge were you trying to address with Brainium Information Technologies?

My wife was looking for a way to modernize her marketing. She decided to develop an app in place of print and direct mail marketing and advertising, which have gone by the wayside and been replaced by social media and the internet. She was looking to provide an experience for her clients but, more importantly, potential clients. She wanted to reach mobile users and give them information about Davidson, North Carolina, the town that we live in. I was tasked with working out this application for my wife.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Brainium Information Technologies developed our mobile app for iOS and Android. With people constantly looking up things on Google, we developed this app with the hope that they could find out anything they wanted to about our town: restaurants, hotels, gas stations, grocery stores, schools, city services, and Davidson College. When users open the app, the screen says it’s sponsored by Jill Lake. My wife can also add her featured listings to the app. Users can get information about her real estate business and the properties that she has listed.

What is the team composition?

There was one particular developer that was assigned to the project, but there were probably four people I could contact if I had any issues or questions. I liked having more than one contact.

How did you come to work with Brainium Information Technologies?

We looked for a developer domestically, but there were some problems with that. I tried to get in touch with a few developers, but they were slow to return emails or calls. Then, the costs were very high. A domestic developer was going to cost about $10,000–$12,000, and most of them wanted a service contract as well, so they’d be kept on to take care of technical issues. That was out of our budget, so I turned to Google. I found a couple of offshore developers. What brought us to Brainium was their quick response to our inquiries. They provided complete answers to our questions and laid out a comprehensive program and timeline of how this would be developed.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost was about $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

They started working on the app in August 2016, and they finished in November 2017. They would’ve gotten it done a lot faster if we hadn’t kept changing our minds.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve had some issues getting the app on the Apple Store, but the Android app has been downloaded more than 17,000 times, which is pretty good for a local app. That has led to some inquiries about the real estate business. The app they delivered far exceeded what we’d hoped for.

How did Brainium Information Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Communication was excellent, and they met every deadline. One thing that I really wanted to include in this review is that I was a very difficult client. I personally do quite a bit of financial programming, so I thought that I knew how this app would be put together and how it would work, but frankly, I didn't know. Brainium deserves a lot of credit — they were very professional and patient, even though I wasn’t very easy to deal with. They responded to my emails right away. We changed our minds several times as to how we wanted the app to look, but they performed admirably. They were better than anyone I could’ve hoped for.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They did an exceptional job communicating and meeting timelines and goals. They under promised and over delivered. The support after the app launched was the strength of their company. Our server host didn’t help us with terrible server problems we had. Brainium helped us about six times, even though this wasn’t even their problem; it had nothing to do with them, and they couldn’t have been more gracious.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There are always things that could be done better. However, based on my experience with them, it’s hard for me to think of something they could’ve done better. I’m just so grateful for the way that they dealt with me. They met all of the goals and pricing. Their strength is their teamwork and communication. I don’t know how, on their part, it could’ve been any better.

Any advice for potential customers?

Listen to what they say; don’t be like me and think that you know. If you have no programming experience, all you have to do is listen to what they tell you, read the information that they send you, and believe what they tell you, and it’ll go very smoothly.

I hired another company to develop an app, but they never responded after we paid them. So I looked for another company, and did some more research before I came across Brainium Information Technologies.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed the app and website from scratch. The app is for iOS and Android. We used to print calendars to the community, but we wanted to make an app that provided people with prayer times and features like live radio broadcast. People can ask questions through the app.

What is the team composition?

There were about four people that I spoke directly to, but the team may have been bigger. We worked with a project manager, a developer, and a web developer, and a coordinator for all of them.

I found them online, and contacted a few agencies. Unlike some other companies, Brainium Information Technologies followed up with me. We sent them an RFP, they sent me a proposal, and we went from there. They have very fair pricing.

The project lasted from December 2019–March 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The community responded really well to the app. Especially because of the pandemic, the app is a great resource because they don’t have to interact with us directly.

We spent a few extra weeks making changes and fixing bugs, and now I’m reviewing their proposal for a digital marketing project.

They were professional and on time. Even though I’m in Canada and they’re in India, they answered every phone call, text, and email I sent.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their customer service was spectacular.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve the testing part. If I were them, I would run a few more tests. Other than that, it was perfect.

The key is to stick to the contract you made. Make changes beforehand and build a comprehensive proposal. They will honor their part as well.

This will be an Honest review. I found these guys on this website and saw the good rating. The project was small according to them. With a small price tag. The team is friendly and nice. But after that its down hill. this project was given a 12 week completion time.

We are now on week 23. And they are still "testing" When you give this guys a time frame they will say "yes yes" but nothing is done. It is frustrating and we have missed multiple milestones and deadlines for launch. They are unwilling to compensate you for the losses and almost on purpose delay it further.

Once we discuses the project i was given a 12 week time line. they took the first deposit, did some mild stone work up tho the 3rd then the project halted.

Atanu was the project manager and he seem like a nice guy until you realized everything that was suposed to be completed never got completed on time. they kept making excuses upon excuses.

Instead of doing it right the first time it took 5 to 6 times to get it right. Even when getting Murkish S. the CEO in charge instead of get his team to complete the work he has now stop the work, kept 75% of the payment and is refusing to finish the work unless i pay him and then he will give a shotty Source code.

STAY AWAY!!!! stay far far away. 9 months have been wasted with these guy and they are now blackmailing me for more money and not to keep to the agreed terms they violated there contract, not upholding there "quality control" standard ( not fixing any of the issues with application) and they are blackmailing me. Becaful when using PayPal they will try to push it out side the 180 days.

God awful. You ask one thing, and they develop something completely different. then ask you to just accept there work.

The team at Brainium was making good progress until we faced the lockdown due to pandemic. There was a delay due to the lockdown because our entire team moved to work from home. Like other companies, we faced the challenge of setting up a remote team with the right infrastructure. We informed all clients about the delay.

In the month of May, while we were struggling with all this, we were affected by the severe Cyclone Amphan, killing 100 people and destroying the basic infrastructure of the city.

Most of our clients understood our position except Aaron. He started asking for a discount and was unwilling to pay the final payment. He posted a poor review and contacted the owner of the company. He started negotiating and told us that he would only improve or unpublish the review once we agreed to make the app live without the final payment.

We made the app live in both stores. He started asking for changes that were never-ending. He now wanted the app to be exactly like Tinder. Our team worked hard for three months without any payment just to address his changes. Our only goal was to keep the client happy.

Unfortunately, his demand was unrealistic and we stopped the work on changes. His app is live in both stores and has scored 5-star reviews which speaks our quality of work. He did not stop there. He charged back all amount that he paid us. So it tells who is wrong here.

Because they were the most honest company from the 5 company’s we looked at. They work with sheets so I can see exactly what they have done that day and what is already complete. That works amazing!

The luxury beauty app has bookings issues. So they fixed the issues that they go back to the app after the end user paid for the service. Brainium worked also on the calendar function. So the expert can use their own calendar and connect with the app

The sales manager was always their for me when their was something about the app. Also the developers manager was their to talk with me on the phone to be very secure what needs to be done. The developers team were very friendly to met on Skype. They also worked on Saturday!

We were looking to develop an app that would protect the safety and privacy of schoolchildren through secure messaging. My background is in education, so I didn’t have any experience in mobile development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Brainium developed Android and iOS apps from scratch, even helping us with the design. They executed a messaging app that allows for communication between educators and students. Our largest focus was the involvement of parents, so families receive real-time notifications when a teacher contacts a student.

There are no options for photo-sharing or emojis because these can be mishandled or misconstrued. In addition to these core safeguards, the app maintains historical logs and shuts down at 9PM.

I engaged with 3–4 people during onboarding, but mostly worked hand-in-hand with one developer.

While I can’t quantify the results, the general feedback has been very positive. People have communicated how significant the app is. It took a little while to get started, but that’s mostly due to the fact that I was completely new to the realm of product development. They were very patient with me and took the time to explain processes and technologies. We communicated through email and video calls.
