Stages (theater) needed a redesign of the site and introduced a new CRM, we needed Bornfight to develop the new site and integrate the CRM into the marketing site. The old site was fully running on the old CRM and was not representative of their brand or brand message.

Wanted the new site to function beautifully, I have worked with Bornfight before and knew they would do an amazing job.

Discovery work needed to be done in order to determine if Bornfight would be able to fully handle the CRM integration. We had to find another agency to handle that side but Bornfight was able to build the site my company built wireframes for and designed. Bornfight worked with the third party agency to ensure the site was fully functional.

No analytics, but the client and full team loved the site :)

We used slack and email to communicate. We synced towards the end of the project more regularly.

I never once had to worry if something wasn't done right. I knew every single aspect would be striking. Fully functional and smooth - and if not they would reconcile quickly, and I was right!

Very satisfied, I do wish communication in beginning of project was much more frequent.

We had content experts and designers in-house, but we needed a team of experts to design and develop our website (desktop and mobile). We needed to translate our new corporate identity, values, and purpose into a new website, that will present not only our company product portfolio, but also our core values, and POV, and, at the same time, become a lead generator through content, contact forms, and demo subscriptions. So in general: brand/product awareness & lead gen.

We have conducted an agency pitch, and Bornfight's offer was the most transparent, incredibly well structured, with clear milestones and deliverables per each milestone and a bulletproof process. Their price point was also very fair for a young startup but with big expectations.

Once we selected the vendor, we had our first kickoff meeting (our CEO was present, too), followed by a workshop where we discussed the previously submitted brief, our core objectives, and our new brand guidelines. After that, we received a very detailed project document, stating conclusions from the meetings, milestones, core objectives per milestone, estimated FTEs per each stage, and timing completed.

Then, we started working on our IA together with our SEO agency, introduced the team to our branding agency, and started working on wireframes and concepts. We held recurring weekly meetings to keep the process agile due to the short time constraints.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As expected, in the first week(s) we've experienced a drop in web visitors but since then it's rising MOM, what's more important - we see a lower bounce rate, more follow-through with CTAs, and longer time on site. We have also received numerous positive feedback from customers, competitors and investors.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was flaweless. We created a Slack channel for all stakeholders to ensure swift exchange of information, and our project manager was always available and quick to react.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

This is not my first web project with Bornfight, so I did have high expectations from the team. However, we were working with a different team this time and I can only say that it was a positive experience that exceeded even my high expectations.

We were truly working as one team, even the project manager rolled up her sleeves the night prior to launch to test and ensure all works well. I can hardly think that I would ever move to another web agency in the future. Working with Bornfight gave me peace of mind that they would go above and beyond to deliver the best project, that the process is well documented and transparent, and that the reporting is on time to ensure corrective actions if needed. And of course - the end result, which in many ways sets new standards - globally.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done different

Just a bit more focus on QA in the end run. I can't think of anything else.

Prior to the public launch of the website in September, the design firm worked directly with BornFight on the execution of their design vision. Bornfight did our website development for us in WordPress, creating the templates and populating the first round of text and images for both our desktop and mobile sites. Post-launch, we have worked directly with BornFight, communicating the enhancements we need and reporting bugs that need to be addressed. The process typically involves documented and illustrated requests from our team, followed by a strategy meeting, scoping and pricing and ongoing communication during the duration of each project by email, quick meetings and a shared Slack channel

A project manager is our main point of contact. We do not have visibility to the number of developers behind the scenes, but meet many of them during the scoping meetings.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The execution of our desktop and mobile site frameworks at stairwell.com are the result of our initial engagement with Bornfight. We continue to engage with them to enhance the capabilities of the original templates provided.

Because they are in Croatia and we are in the United States, we work somewhat asynchronously. This can work to our advantage when we report bugs by our end of day and they address them by our start of day the next day.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They brought their expertise to us to help us meet some tight timelines at a very reasonable price. They are very pleasant to work with and some of the project managers are able to quickly assess our macro needs with new feature requirements and make creative suggestions about ways to achieve our goals that will minimize development time and expenses.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

On-time delivery in line with original project expectations is an area that could be improved.

Our company had one in-house developed website that didn't evolve over years and was seriously lagging behind in terms of user experience. We didn't have the internal skills to tackle that project entirely. Moreover, as we have 2 brands to promote, having one website was creating confusion. We hired Bornfight to develop two distinct websites with two brands universes, from scratch. The main goal was communicating our brands promises in a modern and clear way, whatever the device the user was using.

We started our research on design platforms such as Dribbble and Behance to detect agencies that could think out of the box and provide us with high quality solutions. We got in touch with Bornfight through a colleague of mine who already worked with them and was very satisfied with the projects they did for her.

As for the deciding factors, I put a high amount of emphasis on the motivation and the commitment of the agency even before we signed the deal — Bornfight took the brief and instead of just following it, they proactively proposed new ideas that would make the project better, and they also brought the entire team of specialists to discuss all aspect of the project, from the general specs to potential weaknesses to new approaches.

After the initial brief, together with Bornfight’s core team we’ve gone through the discovery phase to define all of the specific aspects of the project — from defining key goals and the overall approach to specifying singular functionalities of the final output we wanted to have at the end of the product. After the discovery phase, Bornfight’s team focused on design and development — they follow an iterative, agile process of design and development, so we were in daily communication with their core team to continuously follow the state of the project.

Since Bornfight also worked on the completely new art direction for the website, this continuous communication was crucial because it enabled us to quickly share and try out new ideas before they were integrated onto the website. As the development phase was progressing, quality assurance activities were implemented to ensure that every aspect of the website works as intended.

On top of design and development, the entire website was built to be modular and flexible, so that we can now build new pages directly through the CMS — the admin panel makes it quick and easy to build entire pages without having to develop or design new elements. Once the website was launched, Bornfight continued with regular maintenance to ensure that the website is working properly. When it comes to deliverables, Bornfight created a completely new art direction for the website, and they redesigned it and restructured the website. In addition to that, they also prepared a strategy for separating the corporate part of our website from the shop.

There were 10 people in Bornfight’s core team that we worked directly with. There was 1 member of their Strategic Partnerships department, 2 Project Managers, 2 Digital Designers and 5 Developers. In addition to them, there were a number of supporting members who hopped onto the project as needed.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I’m very satisfied with the final outcome and the website that Bornfight had built for us, as it covers all of our needs and no feature was left behind. And I’m also extremely satisfied with the workflow we had during the production process. All aspects of the project were really transparent and their team made sure we knew exactly what the current status of the project is, and in which direction it is going.

For me, communication is key — being in continuous communication and regularly discussing the status of the project with the team. With Bornfight, we had daily communication through Slack and we could share ideas and inspiration directly with the team — so I knew that when I added something to Slack, I'd get an answer within a couple of hours. In addition to Slack, Bornfight’s Project Managers provided me with access to the project management tool called ClickUp which enabled me to push ideas directly into the project backlog. Having these two tools enables us to have continuous and organized communication during all phases of production.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

One of the most impressive aspects of Bornfight is their combination of creativity and organization. They aren’t the company that will just blindly follow client instructions, but they will strongly propose new ideas — they are sure of their expertise and creativity, and will challenge you with new suggestions and approaches. This is something I strongly value as it shows their commitment to the project.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There is always a competition between the agile approach and knowing the exact price that the project is going to cost, but it might be good for Bornfight to include “pessimistic vs optimistic” scenarios into their quote process. This way, we can get multiple perspectives when it comes to price and timeline, and we can know how any changes or challenges affect the project as a whole. This would make it even easier for us to push the project internally.

With a moving timeline due to Covid-19 complications and a complex list of features, the project management team was able to compile all the necessary information to keep us and the client up to date and the project on schedule.

Executive summaries, weekly meetings, and availability in Slack and email helped keep our entire team informed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Bornfight has many great qualities, chief among them being their ability to solutionize difficult functionality and ask the tough questions that make the product airtight and most usable to an end user.

Their use of existing plugins and development of new features worked in seamless combination. On top of their technical expertise, the team was a pleasure to work with!

With a moving timeline, coordination during the QA phase with the client, us, and Bornfight could sometimes feel overwhelming. We merely took this as an opportunity to adjust our ways of communicating during this phase and are excited to try out our new process on our next project with Bornfight.

Beyond is an app that allows members of management to create simple posts that showcase important news in the organisation or share success stories. The existence of different channels (based on countries and/or organizational units ) permits for only relevant information to be delivered to interested parties.

From the perspective of end users, they are able to interact by posting replies, pictures or short videos through comments or reactions such as “Well done” or “Like” to indicate how they feel.

A built-in directory allows employees to find “similar” professionals from the BAT family and reach out to them, ensuring that people of different backgrounds are able to share knowledge and experiences with their peers.

The Bornfight team validated any decisions regarding design and functionality with us and made sure we were up to date with the milestones they had completed and the upcoming work that had to be done

The team at Borfight was very keen to understand the company. Its employees and all processes relevant for internal communication. We were pleased with fact that they took our initial idea of an internal communications app and made sure to really understand what issues we were facing in connecting all our employees to feel as one team.

Ultimately, through a lot of joint conversations and research they came back to us with an ideal concept and approach that met the key needs we had.

When we had some issues that needed to be addressed, or some functionalities to the app that needed to be improved, we have always reached the solutions quite fast and the overall communication with team leaders at their side was satisfactory. 

So I cannot really identify something that could be an area for improvement because this was a truly a team work between the agency and us as a client. All challenges were a common issue that needed actions on both sides.

The feedback we have gained from using our Customer Feedback App has enabled us to implement new products for our customers and to keep a finger on the pulse in our markets.

Weekly calls to update status combined with email correspondence. This proved to be very effective and we could always get hold of someone when we needed them! Shared documents for certain parts of the project via Google docs.

Their ‘can do attitude’ is very inspiring. And their ability to understand what we needed from our brief and discussions was very impressive. The Bornfight team were great at liaising with different departments in our company to find solutions to the various technical and brand challenges.

Grantd is the company behind Grantd, a gaming-gambling platform that uses a unique mechanism to provide users with the ability to get really valuable items such as luxury watches or trips by participating in a draw. Let’s say a holiday is worth 1.000,00€, a user can invest 100€ and his name will appear in the draw 100 times, resulting in a 10% chance of winning that no other player can reduce. I'm the CEO and Founder of the company and the idea is originally mine so my main responsibility is to ensure that the vision I have for this project is understood and implemented.

Our main goal was to find a reliable partner that could take on the entire process of creating a unique gaming product. As we are not developers, we wanted somebody that could understand the business and industry context and consult us but then take it a step further and define, design and develop all the functionalities.

One of the members of our team conducted research and recommended them as an experienced company that could help us with the entire process as we wanted to avoid using multiple vendors.

With Grantd our ambition is to create a unique web-based platform that allows users to invest a fraction of the value of an item and win in a draw that is based on a random generator mechanism. The process with Bornfight started with a series of Discovery workshops where their specialist (Business, Project Management, UX/UI and Development) helped us define our goals, user groups, key functionalities, and mechanisms as well how users will conduct their journey through the platform. After this initial phase and project scoping, Bornfight structured the project into key segments and sprint and worked on the design, Front end, Back end development as well as Project management and Quality Assurance. The project flow was very transparent because we had a bi-weekly reporting system and sessions where the progress was demonstrated on the go.

From Bornfight’s side, there are 2 project managers, 1 UX/UI designer, 1 frontend developer, 2 backend developers, 1 quality assurance engineer and 1 DevOps engineer, this is our allocated team from their side.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Grantd is a startup and at this stage, it is early to predict the success of our business but Bornfigh delivered what we needed so we have the base we need to build our business.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project is operated through scrum methodology and it is based on biweekly sprints. We have a dedicated Senior and Junior Project Manager that defines the areas we should focus on in each sprint and they ensure their team completes the necessary task. We receive continuous reporting on the progress from their team and we also have meetings where not only Project managers are involved but we also get answers from development specialists.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

For me, the most impressive thing is that they really dedicate themselves to the project. The Bornfight team was involved from the very start, actively discussing our business model and ideas for functionalities and really pushing us to think about the users and what would be the best set of functionalities for the MVP. Communication wise it was always great to know that we will get answers quickly and that we can easily set up meetings with the team and keep track of progress.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Overall we are very happy with the way the project has been going. We are currently working on our certification process so Bornfight cannot work on some additional areas. They are very experienced and professional so in terms of pricing, they were slightly more expensive than some other vendors we considered.

We wanted to improve the crawling capabilities of our existing software product which constantly searches the Internet for desired keywords and displays the results in a real-time feed. We decided to outsource part of the work to Bornfight to be able to develop it faster.

How did you select this vendor?

Both of our offices are in the same building and we’ve worked with Bornfight previously. Because we wanted to quickly start the project and we were already satisfied with Bornfight’s previous work, we connected with them again for this project.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They provide us primarily with backend development services. We wanted to rewrite our existing software backend parts into a new, microservices architecture so that it is more flexible and scalable.

The first part of this project is to implement the Gateway service - service responsible for proxying requests to the Internet. This service has the knowledge of internal infrastructure, the limitations and specific Internet domains’ rules so it can make optimal decisions to maximise the number of successful web requests in as little time as possible.

What was the team composition?

From Bornfight’s side there is 1 project manager, 1 tech lead and 3 backend developers, this is our allocated team from their side.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The main goal for us with this project is to productivize our internal software so that we can create additional revenue stream which is not our core service. As we didn’t want to take our own team away from their main jobs, we hired Bornfight as a team extension for this particular purpose.

Bornfight’s developers enabled us to plan on finishing this project in significantly less time than we would have by using our own developers. When the project is finished, it will enable us to start the selling process to potential buyers and we plan to boost our revenue by selling this software product.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project is managed with scrum methodology and is based on biweekly sprints. Ours and their dev teams communicate on a daily basis through slack and gitlab mostly. Additionally, I receive a monthly report from Bornfight on the progress of the project.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

It’s great that everyone on the team, both mine and Bornfight’s are easily accessible and connected every day. The team is stable during the whole project. The initial part of the project, the scoping part which they conduct also with a discovery workshop - it was an excellent way to start the project right, by everyone getting on the same page as to what the main goals and requirements are.

Also, from the start the Bornfight team made one great crucial decision to use a Nest.js framework that is best for this project, even though they didn’t have much experience with it. They quickly caught on with the framework we use and it proved to be the best option for this project.

We’re pretty satisfied with them. The project is going along as expected, there were no big setbacks. Out of 5 biweekly sprints that we have finished by now, only one wasn’t completely fulfilled but Bornfight was sincere about the roadblock they had for that particular feature and they were able to make it up in the next sprint so that the project was set back on track quickly.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the president and CEO of Performance Fact, Inc., an education consulting firm. We work with school districts across the US; we have a growing international presence as well.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bornfight?

We had been trying to develop an online presence since 2007. Our team hired a vendor to put our print content online, but we weren’t satisfied with the results. We hired Bornfight to complete the project.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, Bornfight sent a two-person team to visit our office over the course of the week. They used that time to learn about our business. We then visited their office for a week to scope out the work. After reviewing or product line, they redesigned and redeveloped our web platform. The project focused on streamlining the UX. Bornfight led the process for selecting colors, font, and layout design. The team then revisited our office for the rollout.

Currently, we’re running one- and three-week sprints to make continuous improvements. These updates often respond to our clients’ requests.

What is the team composition?

Ivan (Strategic Partnerships Director, Bornfight) handles the project’s business side. Mladen (Project Manager, Bornfight) oversees the technical specifications. Mario (Head of Design, Bornfight) works on the UX and Elena (Senior Digital Designer, Bornfight) does design. Mladen has a four-person team. We occasionally talk to those resources.

We’ve spent $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2017 and the partnership is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re very pleased with Bornfight’s spectacular work. For the first time, our platform is intuitive and enables users to onboard quickly.

New users use the platform daily and weekly, which allows us to expand our customer base sustainably. The number of users increases each month. While our clients prefer face-to-face communication, the solution enables us to expedite some of the work. Recently, I met with a client group and the entire interaction took less than 10 minutes due to the improved solution.

How did Bornfight perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is responsive and manages the project capably. The designs have reflected our vision and business needs. We use Teamwork and communicate via conference calls up to a few times a week.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Bornfight does their due diligence during preparation. They’re confident and unafraid to push back on important matters. Energized and innovative, the team creates value by delivering top-quality results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear with requirements, but also open to feedback. We got optimal results because our team let Bornfight guide the process. Give them some latitude to suggest alternative approaches.
