I’m the founder of a company that assesses car batteries.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bluepixel Technologies?

We hired them to develop the iOS app that connects our hardware device to the cloud.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bluepixel Technologies has executed UI design and developed several iterations of our iOS app using Xcode and Swift. The app facilitates communication between our Bluetooth device and the car being assessed and sends information to the cloud. The app’s features include firmware updates, user authentication and login, APIs to transfer vehicle data to and from the cloud, photo uploads, and GPS to determine the testing location. 

We test the app as it's being developed since we have access to cars with our devices in them; Bluepixel Technologies is based in India, and we’re in the US.

What is the team composition?

Himen (Founder & CEO) is our account manager, but we primarily interact with another teammate focused on software development. There are also a few teammates focused on UI design.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve worked with them since July 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Functionality is the primary metric, and I’d give Bluepixel Technologies high marks. The app is almost complete, and we’re happy they’ve successfully integrated complex features. They’ve developed an app that meets all our test cases. Their development work is especially impressive, considering they haven’t been able to test features.

How did Bluepixel Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Having the same developer as our point person has been a massive benefit. The team continuity has enabled them to successfully make changes and update the code base. I’ve had limited interaction with the account manager, but they are always very accommodating and willing to adjust their work hours to fit our time zone.

In terms of meeting deadlines, I don’t expect their team to constantly be available for our project since I’m not paying them full-time, and I can accept this tradeoff. They work in fits and starts, as do we. They may be working on another project when we’re ready for them to work on ours, but they try to weave us in.

We communicate via email, phone calls, Google Meet, WhatsApp, and Slack, and use Google Docs to document and update project requirements. We've tried Trello but don't use it much since our other tools are working well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve done a tremendous job being flexible and adapting to major changes in requirements without losing progress. They’ve incorporated new functionalities on top of existing ones as needed. The app was written with a lot of modularity to enable flexibility, which they’ve definitely shown.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My general advice for working with consultants is to be as detailed as possible in defining the project. Write up bite-sized mini projects so you have lots of touchpoints for feedback and review. This way, you can test and confirm functionality as you work.

I am the CTO and we develop portable consumer electronic products, some of which have IOS and Android apps that work with them.

For what projects/services did your company hire Bluepixel Technologies, and what were your goals?

We originally developed a bluetooth app that had the features we wanted. As this was a new app some of the bluetooth connectivity features did not work the way we wanted. We hired BluePixel to fix the problems and add a few new features.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I found BluePixel be searching the Google Play store for apps that specialized in bluetooth technology and scanning. The apps from BluePixel stood out to me as well designed and worked well in my testing, so I contacted them.

The scope was:

1. Find and extract an outdated API that was embedded in the code
2. Replace the old API with native bluetooth code
3. Add the ability for the app to be backgrounded instead of closing
4. Improve permissions menus so choices were easier for the user

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After discussing the project up front we agreed on the scope of work and a fixed price for the project. BluePixel delivered numerous test APK files that we used to test the app to verify function. Once the apk worked without issue, BluePixel delivered the final source code.

The BluePixel team was fast to respond via email to my questions and concerns. If something required changing they sometimes sent me updated code within the hour! Overall very prompt.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their technical skill is outstanding. Their prices are really affordable and their responsiveness is excellent.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Sometimes they did not completely understand my email (written in English). This turned out to be a minor issue because utlimately they got it and delivered the product exactly how I needed it.

We wanted to create a mobile chess engine that uses BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy) to communicate with our physical electronic chess board

SOLUTION

Good review and and specialists in development of BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy) Apps

1. Genrate a BLE interface for our Board BLE protocol(Control plane)
2. Embed chess engine with the use of UCI(Universal Chess Interface)
3. Develop Android and iOS UI(User interface) in conjunction with the control plane on the physical chess board
4. Regression test after each development cycle
5. Deploy Apps for Android and iOS

We have received both Apps as agreed. They are both awaiting deployment into Android Store and Apple App Store
