The Blue Box developed three industrial android apps which are used by companies to track their fleets. These apps share specific requirements: 

• run on industrial tablets
• tolerant to failures (i.e. auto recovery of crashes with minimal data loss, redundant software)
• handle different user roles 
• connect with the cloud servers

Initially, they received legacy code and implemented improvements and bug fixing to the interface android app. Then, the team made a new one which extended the initial app to run in the background and appear as a widget. Finally, after doing the discovery process, they implemented from scratch an autonomous tracker app that contains all features implemented in the previous app.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The team quickly understood the business requirements and suggested improvements that benefited our products. We liked the agile way of working that the team showed with their weekly status report. This let us know at all times the stage that the process was in, and paved the way for a long term business relationship.

After defining the tasks to be done, the manager of the team organized them following an agile methodology using the Jira software tool. Along with it, we held regular meetings to be updated on the status of the project and to talk about the work done and the next steps to take. The Blue Box delivered the app versions as they said they would and in due time. We were happy to see everything working as we expected.

The team has been instrumental in app and website development for two of our companies. We leaned on their expertise from the very beginning, from UX/UI, front-end and back-end development and expanding our analytics platform. We had weekly stand-ups where the team clearly communicated their progress. Their scope of knowledge is exactly what we needed to successfully launch iOS & Android apps for both companies.

Blue Box is an incredible company of extraordinary developers and we have worked with the founder, Damian Tochetto for many years. Damian has grown an incredible tech team that has been instrumental in app development for two of our companies. We leaned on their expertise from the very beginning, from UX/UI, front-end and back-end development.

This includes our travel app called Globespinning which incorporates many complicated and detailed features. The second company was TalkGo which required knowledge in firmware development with Amazon Alexa voice technology and having the app connect to a hardware device.

 They were built for both iOS & Android and we have patent pending features for these apps that were developed by Damian. He was instrumental in contributing to the success for both companies.

A restaurant group in Chicago hired us to convert several applications from PHP to React and Next.js, and I needed someone to help me finish that work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

THE BLUE BOX provided remote IT staff augmentation services for us. The team helped us get 11 of the internal web-based business apps of the restaurant group to update them by migrating from PHP to a better platform, which ended up being React and Next.js from the frontend. THE BLUE BOX also worked closely with the restaurant group’s development team as they supplied us with endpoints for everything they needed to create and then tested everything to verify that the coding was working correctly.

We worked with around five members of THE BLUE BOX’s team, including Damián (CEO), their lead programmer, and three additional developers.

I had worked with Damián ten years ago before he started his own company, and years later, we reunited and started talking about working together.

Furthermore, we have designed a post-processing tool that geolocates all the information collected in the field, which is used to digitally certify CO2 reduction actions and goals.
